Literally a house faces lift LOL 😆
If you all haven't visited the Zillow link, go ahead and pay it a visit: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4917-Erie-St-Annandale-VA-22003/51879922_zpid/
This house has it all:
If you're looking for a house where you say "yeah, I could see prostitute bones buried here within the year," this is the one for you.
Also plunked in the middle of what appears to be a solidly middle class neighborhood full of post war ranch homes, it looks exceptionally odd!
The price doesn't shock me, I'm near Boston so I'm sure those neighboring ranches are in the $750k+ range because of location.
Stephan!!!!
Crazy it’s new construction too.. my first thought was that it was just an old cookie cutter house that was renovated and they spent some extra on the front but nope
So new the pictures are still the renderings
Next on Botched…
😂🤣😂
😂🤣👍🏻
⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Holy shit. I thought it was bad. Read the comments, laughed. THEN clicked through. 1.7M???? This has got to be a joke.
Cost is due to proximity to Arlington and DC. Prices are insane in the DC region.
Trying to sell it for $1m above assessed value, though? I live 20 miles from there, and VA isn’t that far off on their valuations, especially in their favor.
I live very close to this. See those modest one-story houses out the front window? That's what the neighborhoods around here mostly look like, but lately the monstrosities like this one are spreading like a disease. At least three atrocious black and white modern farmhouse monsters have been built in my neighborhood in the last couple of years, and I know two of them went for asking ($1.3 million and $1.7 million, IIRC). It's gross.
With all the personality of dryer lint
smh like who thought that was cute lowkey rly missed the mark on aesthetics
That’s so hideous. I thought it was a flip and they just put a fake front on it, but it says it’s a new construction.
Check out the long step out the back door! 😂😂 Definitely a new build.
Spend $400 to build some basic wood steps? Hell no! That eats into the profits.
I could tell by the garage door that something was off here. The delusional builder is going to take a haircut on this one.
In the past that kitchen door would have been a sliding glass door leading to a nice patio.
Even wood steps are expensive
That's like 2 and a half feet lmao
If a house was a mullet.
This is gold.
Looking at the back photo, and the price history, I think someone bought it, tore it down, and rebuilt
Once I cracked the inside, I literally said, "Noooooooooo...."
Oh my god I wish I had listened to you and not opened the Zillow link. I'm very upset at everything about this hell
Quite unsettling, no?
But what if I tell you its almost $2million and the schools are below average.
Also it advertises 4 minutes from 495 like a positive. This is in nova traffic hell.
Yeah, that neighborhood has the worst schools in the entire Fairfax county.
All the traffic, all the price, none of the benefit.
I read your comment and still clicked. 😭
“And we should use the gray paint in which room?”
“Yes.”
I like the color of 1 bathroom’s tiles, absolutely nothing else.
On the wall behind the mirrors? I noticed (and liked) that as well.
Must have been a construction error.
*heavy sigh*Look. At least the floor isnt grey? I know, low bar, but the bar is in hell at the moment.
I'm literally floating upside down right now from discombobulation - the grey floor is the least of my concerns.
I liked the green tile in pic 33.
I was going to suggest this house was designed by AI but then I counted only one toilet in each bathroom. Could still be, I guess...
Well, the whole thing is a toilet, soo...
Why wouldn’t they match the siding color with the facade?
That and match the windows 🤦🏻♀️
I don’t like feeling this much hate
I recommend r/beebutts for mental reset 💜🙏
there is truly a sub for everything. 🤣🐝
“Business in the front, party in the back” ass house
It’s like the old 1800s false front stores.
Now I'm just picturing people drunkenly tumbling out that back door.
You're going to some dry-ass parties my guy
Phrasing!
That is hilarious. Terrible, but hilarious.
How funny. It's like those old time western false front buildings.
This is the Potemkin Special.
Hey, I like it except that stupid back door like Beetlejuice back door. I’m not crazy about all the cold gray paint inside.

Just use the included ladder!
Oh I missed that nice little extra. 😁
OMG it just floats there 😂😭
You have to pay extra and pull permits, for the deck.
That’s got to be a code violation.
Tons of new construction does that shit. They build the house but not the deck. Its usually blocked off for safety but im guessing this door is needed as it appears to be the only other exit from the first floor.
Thank you - I completely missed the door everyone was talking about without steps! It looks like a window. wtf
“Stunning new construction” well yeah I am pretty stunned
https://preview.redd.it/a6kefrla3i8g1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=752391c527f1934cb3fc55e8e7b069f6998bc294
The front looks like a good damn Wendy's.
Good fucking lord, you could have painted the rest of the house black or something. And at 1.7 million it looks like its across the street from a 200k fixer upper. I almost wish this was AI but real life is somehow dumber.
Street View is brutal, showing how this abomination sticks out.
Oh god, it gets worse. The one next to it is nice, but that is not a million dollar neighborhood, what the hell.
There’s an old adage that says, you never want to own the most expensive house on your block. This is the most expensive house within 20 blocks.
Sad part is I really like the inside for the most part, but damn that exterior and location just makes this so bad.
1.7 mil and no deck out back. Can’t even walk out the back door. It’s like they want you to forget about the boring nothingness behind the facade.
They should lose money. I pray they lose money on this because this is a lesson against greed that must be taught.
Holy shit, the catfish house
It's a mullet house, fancy upfront, trash in the back.
The back door... that's a pretty long fall. I could see my dogs breaking a leg or 4.
How did that pass inspection?
My first thought was “are they too cheap to finish the deck” and you know what, I reckon they just might be
Oh no way. Why not just make all the siding black? One of the GOATs of horrible.
hideous
They definitely made some odd choices.
Anyone with that much money can't be stupid and tasteless enough to waste it on this can they...oh yeah they can. Disgusting.
Holy crap that’s ugly
So I like the kitchen. And some of the tile in the bathrooms (specifically that green backsplash). Please don’t downvote me. 😭
There’s nothing wrong with the kitchen. It just doesn’t belong in a modern house. Nor does all that traditional trim.
I dunno, I think this is the perfect statement home for the person who owns a BMW but is behind on the payments.
I feel bad for the neighbors. https://www.google.com/maps/@38.8172371,-77.2087638,3a,75y,127.87h,82.98t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sfqZswPEyDegmrpUVxhdIig!2e0!5s20230801T000000!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D7.015059469939359%26panoid%3DfqZswPEyDegmrpUVxhdIig%26yaw%3D127.86828311168249!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
They did shit like this to houses in the wild west about 200 year ago
Fucking wild to see it today lol
Every new build in Nashville looks like this. The sad thing is, they're landfilling our affordable housing for this shit that nobody can afford except the dipshit transplants who don't know any better. The tall-skinny on the left sat on the market for about a year and FINALLY closed in August, though they're still doing showings, so who knows ...

This is so bad.
Builder grade special
It looks like they fired the original architect and builders after the first portion of the house was built when they decided the dream house they wanted wasn’t actually in the budget and settled for a cookie cutter for the rest of the house.
I will say that adding those huge windows over the typical design does make the inside have wonderful natural lighting even if the outside looks gross and weird from the side.
A house that's 100% curb appeal and no appeal otherwise
The existing neighbors must loooooove this house. Massive eyesore in a simple, working class neighborhood.

It's a Mullet House. Business in front, party in the back. Very, uh, creative design.
I believe it’s- Business in the front, vinyl in the back.
Correction accepted. Lol
I am so confused.
The inside of that house looks pretty much like what I thought it would look like.
“Sophisticated Electric Fireplace”
1.7 M … they out they damn minds.
I’ll take it for 100k 😆
Ahhhh, NOVA has entered the Zillow “keeping it klassy” chat.
Street view is everything!
knew as soon as I saw that completely mismatched garage door this was going to be wild lol
Yeah the garage door was the giveaway for me too!
Near Miami there is an entire new development of houses built like this from the start.
Almost two million dollars and they installed janky wire shelving in a closet.
I think this is the first time a house on this subreddit has made me actually laugh out loud
Man I dunno why but I knew this was going to be northern Virginia. Fucking NOVA is the worst for these types of homes.
It looks like a renovated fast food joint on the front and a builder grade home in the back that’s going to have mold issues in a year.
I always wanted a facade that resembles NASA's vehicle assembly building.
https://preview.redd.it/oqe4uru7sk8g1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b707b2e9ff9d5f3b6f6b286b71d65523171d016b
lmao hell na
How I designed houses in the sims
i love the confidence that it took to do this, like no one's ever gonna see anything but the front of the house 🤪
Looks like a Wendy’s
https://preview.redd.it/uhbcy5vqan8g1.png?width=952&format=png&auto=webp&s=e09ab6c25f85f49227210d71f003115e0fea0733
Looks like that facade cost over a million bucks. Quite the investment.
r/DIWhy
I feel like I should order fried chicken or a burrito bowl from that place
Why are the back steps missing? Did someone steal them Sims 3 style?
I’m trying to figure out how the price more than tripled in two years ??

Back in 2023 it was a cute little ranch. They tore it down and built... this.
Oh damn that's cute too, oof.
That's what most of the houses look like around it. People won't be happy until they've raised property taxes so much it prices long term residents out of the area and all these existing houses are torn down.
The first sale was just the land. Listing says built in 2025, so this is the initial sale of the newly constructed
homebuilding.Ah! Ok that makes a lot more sense, thank you.
[deleted]
Rapper's house in the front. Rapper's actual finances in the back.
Is someone actually proud of this?
Cheapest construction job I’ve seen in my life
it looks like it would be a very noisy house. the closet doors - surely there is a better choice than outward swinging doors on the closets in the bedrooms. just imagine dealing with every morning and how much space those doors tale
and the mismatched tiles in the one bathroom... and it just goes on and on
the modern facade i like very much.
The door not being centered is buggin' the hell out of me. The builder's had ONE job and they still managed to screw it up. 😬
It's like three different houses stapled together.
That's just wrong and I get some vibes of the whole front of the house coming off in one piece during a high wind event.
Talk about ur all time catfishes
Why is there an exterior-style window between the laundry room and the garage? 😬
Why.
Just... No.
Like those old wild west towns where all the buildings had those big facades.
Looks like shit from every angle.
they put a ugly face on a mediocre house
How can something be so bland, yet so offensive at the same time?
Photo 28 with the identical double doors at the end of a long room made my brain flash on the twins in the Shining.
Like at least paint the rest of it black or something so the difference isn’t so atrocious
If there’s no roof patio behind that facade, what a waste.
$1.8m for a house that has no way of getting out the back door?!
Ew. Looks like something DR Horton would try to sell you.
It's a reverse mullet. Party in the front, business in the back.
What a let down!
Interior sends to match…why not paint the rest of the house to match?
Somebody took "curb appeal" literally, so that this only looks appealing from the curb
“I want the front to look ultra modern… except for the garage door. That should be country cottage.”
From the back I thought it was a historic house they slapped that front on, but no
Raise your hand if you’re sick of grey. And the feeble attempt at an ombré thing is just cringey.😬
What the fuck lol
Apart from the many, many other problems, a quick trip down Street View shows it doesn't match anything else in the neighborhood at all. It's mainly modest ranches. Then this... thing.
What the ....?
I have no words. What's worse is they appear proud of themselves, as if they thought this was a good job and they're going to convince others this is a good job.
Mullet house.
This might be the ugliest, worst thing I’ve seen on this site.
Holy cow. Is this fraud?!? That’s as bad as it gets
Suburban Mullet. Business in the front, boring in the back.
A mullet house! Ugly in the front, uglier in the back but different
This is a keeping up with the 'Jones's' house.
This genuinely makes me sad.
Shitty from the front and back.
Its like a mullet
For 1.7 mil. Yikes.
Oh man, I actually love a lot of the inside. Even with a face that matched the rest of the outside of love this, or if the rest of the house matched the face. But the literal facade is wild lol.
Looks like something I'd make in Satisfactory
Grossssss
Yuck.
If Miami visited :anywhere: else
What kind of quick flip open plan mind numbingly tasteless white Hell is that???
Evil
Groverhaus 8.0
I want a home not a hospital. How sterile can you get!
They did something very similar to a house in my hometown, but reverse (front looks normal, back is “modern”) and I think it looks terrible.
Strip mall-style
That'll be the day I go back to Annandale.
Largest shower heads I've ever seen. And a giant window next to the toilet too!
Minecraft in the front, grandma's dollhouse in the back.
This is so bad lol. It looks like they thought they were going to build a community college then changed their mind.
Thought this was a Taco Bell at first
"How to make nobody want to ever buy your property for $1,000, Alex."
Like seriously who wants to spend the cash to undo that eyesore?
Wow! That's really ugly inside and out.
If they had painted the rest of the house black, it would have been perfect.
As hideous as the mismatched exterior is, those bathroom and kitchen finishes are really sexy
🤢
Contractors should never design what they build
Reminds me of a western style facade
"turn left and just keep driving until you see the Gmod mess of a house"
2017 in the front, 1994 in the back
Oh wow /s that’s… I’m lost for words on this one. The idea flew on top of my head and I’m so glad it did 🫣
Good to know it's hideous on all sides.
lol at the 227% price increase in a year and a half.
