Hi everyone! I’m wondering what an alternative y2k female look was like? By alternative I mean not mainstream. I might be totally wrong, but my understanding is that emo and scene wasn’t really a thing until mid 2000s. What would something alt like those aesthetics have looked like in y2k? Thanks in advance!

I think punk is probably your best bet which has existed for decades. There are a lot of sub genres too like punk goth, punk rock, British punk, etc.
Y2K futurism and/or DORF-ism might also be considered alternative—bright, chrome-y styles. Think of the style of the music video for TLC’s Scrubs. I really like looking at Kerouac (Kera) magazine for inspo on this.
Goths, mostly.
Maybe rave pants and a crop top, something like this
Yup
Crust punk or plur, the choice is yours
