I could use some suggestions. I had a chip drop done on top of some landscaping weed guard. Way more logs and material than I expected. Looking for ideas for design.
Remove the weed barrier. It's not really effective. Instead you should sheet mulch by putting down a layer of compost and the a thick layer of mulch. Look up sheet mulching.
Skip the weed barrier and opt for 4 to 6 inches of mulch instead. Consider building a small mound of fast-draining soil in the spots where you plan to plant. And don't forget to plan for drainage.
Well it's a start. You'll eventually hate that weedbarrier....(weeds still grown down) you still weed alot.
Get some native trees amd flowers planted. Test your soil for pH to know what you are working with.
You just removed a lot of beneficial top soil in the Sod, try to replace it or tend the soil so it heals, organic matter to decompose.
Do you mean I lost top soil by covering grass with the weed guard? I can still remove it.

I suggest tearing out the weed barrier. It's totally useless and doesn't prevent weeds. Google it.
