I picked this 360 from the Jacob R whatnot for 7.75$ after I used my 15$ credit I got, and it finally arrived. Like the label I put said, it overheats due to either a crusty thermal paste or too much dust. What do yall think, ez fix and a good deal?? Or a money disaster [all stickers u see I put on the 360 were placed when it arrived, and the glossy one is my personal one]

Try repasting and cleaning the fan
Did so a few minutes ago but it still spun to 100 and red dotted. Reboot did nothing. Instantly surges and 100% the fan and blinks red with no display
Could be a dead APU.. i’m not to sure
it does show up on the screen sometimes
Hmm maybe a dying nand?
There was a video link someone posted in this post. I think that’s the only documented issue of this, and that is the video
I see, hmm
That’s cool. Ive randomly watched quite of a few of his videos. Crazy some of the consoles he gets.
I liked the Turbocharged 360. Also I’m planning to turn this 360 slim to a Driver SF 360 soon
Yep that build was from KWAK on youtube, I got a build from him XD made a video on youtube about it myself
Jacob r?
This video at 12:25 minutes I believe
Xbox 360 owner owes 150k
The Pittsburgh pile!
So many good consoles from that series. Though I wished I got some too from the Hampton haul & mega haul
This is a OP comment: the 360 when booted quickly ramps up and blinks red. though I do have big plans for it soon
Sounds like it may not be a dust issue but a capacitor issue. Any experience soldering?
No but my uncle has been soldering for 30 years I believe, so I’ll ask him or so
Also what makes it a capacitor issue, out of curiosity? Because in the video it was in it worked before and it did work for a bit when it arrived before doing this and such
If the console boots an immediately has the fan at 100% speed and red rings shortly after it’s probably a capacitor. If it were from dust or dry paste it would gradually speed up the fan to full speed before shutting down
It has done that twice: in the video, and once
Which capacitor causes it to do that
This video shows where you should start. Don’t mind the first minute or so since your console isn’t modded. If these resistors measure fine with a multimeter you’ll want to check some capacitors. For me I had to replace a capacitor close to the usb ports in the front of the motherboard

By the looks of it, it’s a EZ fix
It’s been a while since I’ve done this but now that I think about it it may be a capacitor if it just does straight to red spring and doesn’t power up
If I’m lucky and it surges before Redding, I’m able to see the boot animation
The Corona overheating resistor fix isn't terribly difficult, but the resistors are very tiny so I hope you have good eyesight and a steady hand.
Easy-ish fix, depending on your skill. If you've dealt with computers before, EZ as. But if this is your first time, be careful.
Side note, but I hate trying to open these models vs. the white ones. They are a pain, so many little clips that love to break. Be super careful and slow with opening these, at least in my experience.
When I opened it to see how caked up the dust was, I think someone was in it since I saw broken clips, but the warranty sticker was intact. Though yes, I have worked with PCs since 2022 until now
Update, reposted but still same issue
I bought 2 just like u have their but for 20 for both I cleaned them out and now they are working like new. So yeah good deal.
Are you certain it wasn't 6-7 days?
