People say they turn on their console and look at the games and don't know what to play. I fired up my ripped CDs on that bad boy and just swished and swooshed
Never experienced anything before whatever the latest interface iteration is called (grew up with a PS2 and GameCube both older than myself) - was the in-game overlay, where you do things like manage online functionality and check achievements, ever any different to the version we know today? Just curious as (afaik) that's the only 360 UI element featured in backwards compatible titles, and if it used to be different it would be cool to be able to reskin it to a past version.
Simply certain games past a certain date have an update file on them that will automatically try to install and update the console and you can’t connect it to internet.
Get this thing J-Tagged!!! Circa pre2008~
Also don’t forget to replace the thermal paste and clean it out. What model is it?
It's also a good idea to disable the eFuse circuit so that IF an update was initiated, it will fail to burn the fuses and prevent the console from updating. It'll brick the console but a quick reflash of the NAND will put you right back to where you started.
2.0.1888.0 is the launch day version of blades which is very uncommon to come across nowadays unless you happen to buy a brand new sealed in box launch day console from 2005. 2.0.6717.0 is the more common blades version most people come across
Generally, they look the same. There are differences such as no Marketplace blade and probably a few other things that are different but nothing major changed aesthetics wise between 1888 and 6717 as far as I know
Excellent! See, what I'd love to know... can't someone program/code a Blades dashboard for basically anything? Steam, a DAW for music, file management things? If this doesn't exist, someone needs to start like "bladesdashboard.com" or some shit. Seriously.
Excuse my ignorance but what would the benefit be of having this dashboard? Is it just an oddity or is there a functional reason that you'd want to disable functionality and add a fuse to prevent it from updating?
Thank you for posting on /r/xbox360!

I loved Blades. So efficient. Swish swish swish swoosh swoosh swoosh
swish swoosh, absolute cinema

I was in the 3rd grade when the update came out that switched from the blades to the new interface.
My naive young mind thought my Xbox was the only one to update like that for whatever reason lmao

I'm sure there's a YouTube video of how Blades worked.
Blades! That’s great! That is rare and valueable.

will do :D
What’s the manufacture date on the back?
This dashboard is called Blades it’s the first and the rarest. Just don’t go online and be cautious playing games made after 2010
Why do they come with the NXE update?
I would say it’s rare but nothing too insane unless you got the original blades from 2005
Whats the difference between the original?
2.0.1888.0 is the launch day version of blades which is very uncommon to come across nowadays unless you happen to buy a brand new sealed in box launch day console from 2005. 2.0.6717.0 is the more common blades version most people come across
Do they not look the same aesthetically?
Generally, they look the same. There are differences such as no Marketplace blade and probably a few other things that are different but nothing major changed aesthetics wise between 1888 and 6717 as far as I know
Other than the game compatibility
Blades/10
Not rare, but desireable if you're a collector. More desireable if it has a good MFR-date (after summer 2008) with a post-fix GPU.
Probably wasn’t used much. It’ll RROD soon enough.
That's really one of the coolest Menus in gaming existance next to the PS3s XMB. I wish I had a old 360. Kudos and I am Happy for you!
If I had a penny for everyone who's made a post like this, I would be rich
not rare at all /j
[deleted]
gee, it's almost as if I put /j there to indicate that I was joking about it not being rare
I have a Halo 3 Xbox with blades still on it. Very sought after. Standard whites are still sought after though.

Never knew that even rare dashboards are a thing nowdays. Weird🤪

That's what I run on my 500gb original x box.
Dude, you just became a millionaire.
Maybe not so rare now that you can install the blades dash on new firmware with badupdate.
Have newer games been patched to work with blades?
i had one then i accidentally updated it by putting a red dead redemption disc into it and accepting the update 😔 still think ab it..
Don’t ever connect to internet

Never update it.
Just nostalgia bait. If you dont like it, update to another dashboard
