Hi all,

I'm assuming the answer to this is no, but I wondered if you could help anyway.

I have some Microsoft Points I can convert to a voucher, but wondered if I would be able to use said voucher on a pre order?

Essentially, I'm looking to save the points to cash in for a voucher to get a discount on GTA 6 next year. I know it's only valid for 90 following redemption so I won't be doing it yet as it will expire well before the games release, but I'm HOPING I can do this leading up to the game being out.

Anyways, thoughts please people?

If you use account credit (like from gift cards), they take the payment immediately

Ah, I think when I did this last I did a split between store credit and credit card, and it waited.

If you use credit for the whole amount. If you only use it for part of it, it gets taken alongside the credit card portion close to launch.

  • Theres an extremely high chance they wont retract your pre-order since you already paid for it. Regardless of what was used to pay for it, you still bought it.

  • You can if you redeem the Xbox gift cards

Pre-order Xbox digital games in the Microsoft Store | Xbox Support

If you used account credit to pre-order your game, your balance will be taken immediately. If you used a credit card or split the payment between a credit card and account balance, you’ll be charged around 10 days before the early access period or the release date, depending on the game and version that you bought.

If your account balance is lower than the amount you authorized for pre-order billing, the remainder will be taken from your credit card. You’ll receive an email to your billing account confirming that the remaining card payment was collected successfully, and the game will be available for you to play on the day it launches.

    Brilliant, thank you very much

  • Why not just wait until a couple days prior to launch to redeem your points? If it’s the digital purchase it’s not like it’s going to be sold out
