Prior to invading Poland, Germany offered  A "deal" for Poland to join its anti-Soviet alliance, cede the Free City of Danzig and a extraterritorial road through the Polish Corridor, and align its foreign policy with Germany, promising territorial gains in the East in return. assuming Germany did not invade Poland anyway this would have delayed the war in the west or at least delayed it and strengthened Germany invasion of USSR making it more successful potentially leading to a German victory if the allies did not invade Germany from the west while Germany was fighting in the east.
