It’s my first ever acceptance, I don’t get paid but I will get a free copy of the publication. The publisher is a super small indie thing, but I am still super excited!

every single person who has ever been published had at some point not had their work published yet, so the key word is always 'yet'. congrats on the acceptance!
That’s awesome, congrats! First acceptances hit so hard, paid or not. One tiny suggestion: when your copy arrives, take some nice photos and share them on your socials/website, great way to celebrate and start your “published” trail.

Yeah I did.
From my understanding getting poetry published is a bit of a numbers game.
I submitted several poems to about 40 different publications. I’ve gotten rejections from four, then this first acceptance and the rest I haven’t heard from.
I keep track of everything in a Google sheet. The date I submitted, the publication, and what poem I sent.
