Though, to be fair, I also had a bit of a negative view toward that cinematic when it first came out; it grew on me over time.
I thought it was good, but it seemed oddly restrained in terms of the action compared to, say, the bfa cinematic
I also think it kinda throws you in the middle with no build up and doesnt properly give you context for the army of the light. The fact that people had to question who they even were is, i think, a sign of bad conveyabce. But i know for a fact that only happened because modeling turalyon or anyone besides generic paladin would have ballooned the cost and time to make it.
Grew on me too. I think the general failures of the gamescom announcement really tanked things. I did also feel (and still do) that the cinematic is very predictable and the dialogue is kind of generic
Besides the general failures of Gamescom, as you mentioned, I think part of the reason the cinematic felt underwhelming is that we already knew Xal’atath was going to attack Silvermoon. A lot of the WTF or awe factor was gone because we already had a general idea of what the cinematic was going to show. Seeing Silvermoon under a massive attack would have been way more shocking if we didn’t already know what Midnight was going to be about, imo.
oh joy i misread the dragonflight pvp ensembles thing in regards to elites
apparently getting elite in a season only lets you get with marks of honor THE SET YOU ALREADY HAVE and not any of the other class sets so if you want a set for an alt you would have to grind pvp to get that specific set during that time before its gone forever
honestly im really upset but shouldnt be surpirsed since an idea like being able to get other class sets if you got the rating on one character would be a small step towards elite pvp rewards not being irredeemable fucking limited time garbage and that would be out of character
im more calm after a bit since posting but it is still really sucky how a bunch of the pvp rewards are just gone after the season and stuff like only sets on the class u get the rating for
like as much of a buzzword as the community has made it... this really does feel like some fomo bullshit
WoW PvP is kind of like if raiding was the same as it was now gameplay wise but all the looting and rewards still worked like vanilla in 2005. It's a weird disjointed time warp mashup.
It’s becoming clear my guild is definitely not clearing dimensius on mythic, but lowkey that’s okay because I’m happy with Nexus King as the end boss of my time in Manaforge Omega. It’s a fantastic fight in a lot of ways, does the thing second to last bosses often do IMO which is provide a compelling fight that moves things along, giving you enough mechanics to be a full experience while being a neat package of an encounter overall. Endbosses tend to have a sprawling quality to them which is totally appropriate thematically and as a capstone to the raid, I wouldn’t change that, but the raider in me appreciates the streamlined philosophy of penultimate boss design just a little bit more.
I also just love the character. Lore wise I know what they give us of Salhadaar is pretty minimal but honestly I find something very compelling in that minimalism and what we do get of him. The characterization in the dialogue/voice acting and the encounter itself is underappreciated imo. Probably helps that the last minute or so of “Shadowguard” which I interpret as his personal theme music is some of the best music ever added to the wow soundtrack hands down. (Go listen to it, it’s worth)
I know the circlejerk never ends but. God, I'm never going to not be salty with how they gave us Mechagnomes. I think I've only ever seen one person casually in the wild (like on Twitter, when I used to have a WoW-centric account) who loved them and their lore and treated them seriously. I'm leveling one on Remix for the heritage armor and dare I say, they're almost harder to transmog than Dracthyr.
Being plate is tough and cloth just would tear on all that metal. Just doesn't make sense smh.
I like them, the jokes the style, the animations they have that are unique.
My main question to counter is what other race the people who complain about the current ones all day, what do y'all want? It's usually unreasonable, like Sethrak or Taunka or something that would just be a mog nightmare for the art devs. I'm still banking on playable Naga, I will not give up that dream. Night Elf/Nightborn visage forms and a slithery combat model.
Sethrak tbh, I was beyond disappointed they didn’t become playable. I mean hey, since they have the Dracthyr skeletons to use as a base now… please Blizz…
For me it kinda shows how fuckin weird the gnome body shapes are. Armor just looks so much better on goblins, theyve got actual curves and limbs, and arent just a squat box. That and not being able to choose how many limbs are mechanical. Id play them if i could turn off diaper mode and have normal legs.
I think allied races, while providing some decent stories, cool racials, and neat customization, are overall one of the worst "systems" blizzard added and feel like a cost cutting measure half the time and one particular dev's fixation the other half
I haven't touched remix at all because of irl business; if I just want the aotc mount is there a fast easy way to snag that before it goes away? I have no idea where to even look for info about this kind of thing
Can I do that on a fresh char? Any easy content to get me to that point? It feels like a ton of stuff just got thrown at me and its sorta tough to filter
I think the worst kinds of completely non-malicious players are the people who join raid groups in Remix and just simply type "1" the second they're part of the group, and just sit in Dalran doing nothing. I always make it a point to say something like "omw!" and start heading to the damn raid no matter what.
Right, with Dragonriding flying I can literally just jump off the Timerunning area and point myself at Tomb of Sargeras and fly right into the raid without doing anything.
I grouped with a guy for Tomb that started a 60 second timer once the group filled. He said anyone that couldn't be bothered to leave Dal to get to Tomb would be kicked. That guy was my hero.
Finally got my Horde plot so I could experiment with room plans without messing with my alliance house.
When Blizz gives us more room budget in midnight you better believe I'm going to make some sort of labyrinthine monstrosity.
It would be nice to get more size variations on the empty stairwells though. Would like a smaller one and a much bigger one than the one we currently have.
Go play around in older content. I'm leveling an alt 100%ing everything by turning off xp at certain breakpoints. Working his way through Kalimdor right now, already completed Eastern Kingdoms.
Pvp sub went from a decent place to talk gameplay to a cesspit of doomposting. I guess its the season ending but seeing hundreds of upvotes on posts circlejerking like "glad is impossible unless you buy tokens for boost" is quite annoying.
Blizzard is lowering the glad threshold for Midnight to 2K3 so it doesnt make sense that a community dedicated to the gamemode is this angry.
reddit is sadly just flooded with "angry casuals" that kinda hate the idea of putting time into stuff and improving and instead just doom post about it 24/7
like, its the same with Mythic Raid stuff, everytime a Mythic Raid mount is shown its just 80% people saying "cant wait to buy tokens and pay 5million gold for it" like a broken record
It's the same thing with competitivewow, so many people are already dooming over Midnight and claiming the game is dead just because players are actually playing other activities instead of spamming M+ over and over again.
I'm a Garrosh fan, but as a fan of the character's story NOT of his actions. People who unironically say "Garrosh did nothing wrong" are fucking morons because the dude literally did everything wrong.
Sure he was dealt a shit hand with his dad and being thrust into the Warchief role by Thrall, but after a certain point it was all on him. I'm a fan mainly because of how horribly he fucked up and how long-lasting the effects of his fuck ups were, especially when you consider he's a WoW original character.
Dude has so much blood on his hands, especially when you consider that literally everything that happened on Alt-Draenor was done just to sate his daddy issues and quest for revenge.
I think a lot of the "Garrosh did nothing wrong" stuff comes from how his was presented in TBC-Wrath (and to a lesser extent Cata) to how he was then presented in MoP and WoD.
In TBC-Wrath/Cata, he was pretty set into the ways of the old horde. the "blood and thunder/honor above all else" type of vibe they had. As a result he could come off as pig headed or stubborn, but he wasn't evil.
He then got pretty hard with the villian bat in MoP, so and it's prequel novel, and I think that's the disconnect. Whether you see him as a villian, or as a someone redeemable comes down to which expansion version you associate him with I think.
I think Garrosh's story suffers from how early it was introduced and the in-game presentation of it couldn't really match the nuances they were trying to portray. The WOTLK pre-patch Mak'Gora with Thrall (that the Scourge interrupted) and the Ulduar meeting in Dalaran showed the initial split in their leadership ideologies, but it didn't do much to show that Garrosh was also an orc supremacist so the transition in Cata/MOP felt a lot more abrupt when they drew attention to that aspect of his ideology.
I like both eras of his story, but there definitely is a split between WOTLK and Cata. He went from an orc who was trying to redeem his family name and seemed passionate about the Horde as a whole to an orc who wants to kill all the Alliance and maybe subjugate some Horde members in the process lol. It's why I like the short story "Heart of War" from 2010 because it flashes back to the story of his first visit to Orgrimmar (the story itself takes place post-WOTLK) and highlights that even that early on he was developing some orc supremacist beliefs (thanks to a younger Conquerer Krenna lol).
I think if some of these moments had been given the "stay a while and listen" treatment, then the "Garrosh did nothing wrong" crowd would maybe see that he was always a bit of a shithead from the start.
Doesnt help he also attracts men who are very sensitive about their masculinity and shit on anything not considered "manly and epic". Cowardly shit imo lol
Yeah, seeing the vocal racists in the wow general chat growing up definitely made the realization of "facism is popular for a reason" that emerged in the last decade or so a hit a little less hard than it did some of my peers. Id been desensitized to it.
While i dont think liking bad guys or debating things is a smoking gun, the more heated and defensive you get, the more i raise my eyebrow. "Metzen SABOTAGED garroshs redemption!!!" Brother he's always been a warmongering asshole. And i think hes a fuckin GREAT villian cause he accurately shows how facist dictators rise to power: invoking almost spiritual levels of rhetoric ("honor" and the hordes manifest destiny), heavy militarization, surrounding yourself with yes men and slowly becoming paranoid as you invade other lands for resources just because "your people" deserve it more. (And "your people" as a definition shrunk as time grew)
But hilariously, some people fall for it anyway! How embarassing it must be to fall for a FICTIONAL fascists rhetoric.
Yeah like there are two issues I have with Garrosh's writing: One is the Stonetalon Mountains miscommunication which fsr everyone latches onto. The other is that Garrosh becoming this kind of guy in the first place after his introduction in TBC felt really lame, but this is more that I think having a son of Grom who wasn't a shithead would've been a cool character.
Neither of these involve the fact that once he went down the path of a fascist, he continued to be a fascist.
Id argue people can love the tenants of facism but convince themselves its not. Its just being susceptible to propaganda, and its easier when you have a loose or lack of morals and empathy.
You know, now that TWW is almost over, I was reminded of how big of a deal people were making out of Fearin Lothar calling her a Mary Sue. I even saw posts and comments blaming her for everything wrong with the modern WoW story, lol. I never got it. How is she a Mary Sue? She never saw herself as better than others, never acted superior to anyone, and she wasn’t overpowered. The last time we saw her, the story presented her as a naive, idealistic young woman who doesn’t really understand the outside world. How is that a Mary Sue?
At the end of the day, I personally even forgot she was in the story. I didn’t love her or really care about her, but man, the hate she received was completely undeserved.
I feel bad for the "anxiety tanks and healers" becuase they mostly do not like concepts like creating and executing routes quickly or chain pulling and would rather have periods of rest between combat.
And like. Thats exactly what raiding is. But raiding is a lot less accesible to the average antisocial player.
Its something i totally understand as a problem: lots of players can lock in and focus but its hard for some to lock in for a half hour straight. Ive always advocated for a "safe zone" or someway to arrest cds ticking down between combat.
But at the same time, im sorry. I can solo this tw dungeon in 5, im gonna fuckin do it, im not gonna add an extra 10 minutes so that you can feel in control.
I don't understand why people want beta access tbh. Playing beta as a casual doesn't sounds interesting. I rather experiences the zones/quests when they are finished. And if you wanna try the class changes you can just wait for pre patch. That's just how I feel anyway
People seem to think beta is an extension of "early access," to the point they are willing to pay $90 for it (and then complain that there are bugs and unfinished parts).
I want to try the class changes but in an endgame environment. Prepatch testing is bad there's no max talents or sets wich doesnt help deciding what class/spec i'll play and invest time on.
"PSA Service announcement for useless waste of air dps players in solo shuffle"
"heals never wrong dps bad."
I get attacked when I tell them they unfortunately as healers don't get a say in if they win so much as if they lose. It's the same in 3's. Healers just can't really carry a match. It's still not bad in Solo Shuffle though, I get quick 1800 sets when I'm bored. I'll use my mage to get the 2100 illusion and farm a few sets on healers, I'll refuse to touch another dps class because it's already slow enough as it is.
I played at 2100 from the season start and won 70% of my matches overall, I never had a losing lobby but it still just drip feeds your rating. So the best way to make progress is to get lots of queues, which is faster on a healer. It's the best way to get your rewards imo.
Shuffle and 3s are extremely different tho. Healers can carry too it just doesnt look as flashy as a MM doubletapping someone caught not using their wall.
They are different. Shuffle is a much sillier mode, but that's most of what the players and healers are crying over. Actual 3's healers understand their role and healers are in a good spot in pvp for what all is expected of them.
I'm not a fan of solo shuffle, and what it's done to the arena queue make no mistake. I was digging at all the post crying about being a healer in solo shuffle.
At this point I'm really wondering if people think Blizzard just put this line in the pre-patch promo for the fun of it or if they genuinely didn't bother reading that most of their complaints were already answered.
Demon Hunter Void Elves include new metamorphosis visuals, thematic tattoos full of Void energy, and the Void Elf racial Trait: Spatial Rift.
if they genuinely didn't bother reading that most of their complaints were already answered.
This is World of Warcraft. The playerbase's refusal to read has been a thing since vanilla, so I'd wager pretty strongly its the latter. Especially the ones who barely, or don't even play anymore, and only interact to get mad.
I remember having an interaction with someone back in DF who got mad about there not being a way to fly the old way and they wouldnt buy the expansion unless they put old flying back in (phrased in a very "they won't" kind of way). So i pointed out they were adding old flying in the next patch (it had been announced ages ago) and the response was "too little too late". Some people just exist to be unhappy
The fact that people still don’t understand Sylvanas’s character or the Shadowlands story is honestly funny to me. I also had no idea people hated her song in the new questline though, to be fair, it was bugged for me and had no audio. Maybe that’s why people hate it, idk.
I can understand why people don't want Sylvanas back in the story, tbh. It doesn't really matter how you dress it up, her presence is going to feel unwanted to people, there's not a lot you can do about that without removing her entirely.
Shadowlands commentary is basically a hysterical circlejerk at this point. People were convinced TWW's cinematic was Blizz ignoring SL somehow, despite it literally featuring a flashback to SL.
My favorite of all time will forever be Nobbel's (I think) take on the TWW cinematic when it first dropped, which was "Metzen sent us back to after Legion and removed literally everything after it from canon because he had a story to tell with that sword" iirc lmao
This is why nobbel sucks ass imo. He refuses to engage with the medium above thr perspective of a "fan". We DID take care of the sword. We drsined the energy, and azerite sparked thr 4th war. We used thr azerite to kill nzoth.
Now, if your argument is that the execution of the story left a lot to be desired, and its understandable the general public thinks the sword was "unadressed", thats fine..its what i believe.
But fans see things in universe. They cannot fathom that the developers are flawed and might struggle to convey intentions properly, just that x developer is "good" or "mega bad".
hi

I also think it kinda throws you in the middle with no build up and doesnt properly give you context for the army of the light. The fact that people had to question who they even were is, i think, a sign of bad conveyabce. But i know for a fact that only happened because modeling turalyon or anyone besides generic paladin would have ballooned the cost and time to make it.
Like i said, restrained.
Grew on me too. I think the general failures of the gamescom announcement really tanked things. I did also feel (and still do) that the cinematic is very predictable and the dialogue is kind of generic

Nexus king appreciation post
Tbh Ogres or Naga or Furbolgs.
Sethrak tbh, I was beyond disappointed they didn’t become playable. I mean hey, since they have the Dracthyr skeletons to use as a base now… please Blizz…
nice argument, but did you consider the following: Sethrak are cool Snakes
For me it kinda shows how fuckin weird the gnome body shapes are. Armor just looks so much better on goblins, theyve got actual curves and limbs, and arent just a squat box. That and not being able to choose how many limbs are mechanical. Id play them if i could turn off diaper mode and have normal legs.
I think allied races, while providing some decent stories, cool racials, and neat customization, are overall one of the worst "systems" blizzard added and feel like a cost cutting measure half the time and one particular dev's fixation the other half
its really the heads on gnomes
Goblins have smaller heads with bigger ears/noses and Long Arms, it actually gives them a Distinct Shape that doesnt look bad
Gnomes always looked like walking Funko pop figures with their giant heads with big eyes while having a small torso/Arms/legs
I haven't touched remix at all because of irl business; if I just want the aotc mount is there a fast easy way to snag that before it goes away? I have no idea where to even look for info about this kind of thing
just make a group to do mythic antorus and get a good number of 779 guys, you will be done super quick
Can I do that on a fresh char? Any easy content to get me to that point? It feels like a ton of stuff just got thrown at me and its sorta tough to filter
You have to get to 80 first, which will take a few hours, but nothing will stop you from making a mythic antorus group once you're there
I think the worst kinds of completely non-malicious players are the people who join raid groups in Remix and just simply type "1" the second they're part of the group, and just sit in Dalran doing nothing. I always make it a point to say something like "omw!" and start heading to the damn raid no matter what.
Legion raids are about the easiest to get to, too, making it extra ridiculous.
I joined one the other day where the leader had "you will be kicked if you ask for a summon" in the group description, it was glorious to see.
Finally got my Horde plot so I could experiment with room plans without messing with my alliance house.

You could go take pictures of bees
Blizzard already FORCED me to take pictures of bees so I could finally beat LFR.

Somewhat reminded of that Sylvanas Loyalist RP guild on Argent Dawn EU that got outed as neo-nazis.
...i'm sorry, what??
Dates back to 2022 to a Hordeside guild called The Rotgarde and covered by a Tumblr blog whose name escapes me.
EDIT: Ah yeah, Consequences of Argent Dawn, that was it
gamers don't miss the point and think the fascist is based challenge (impossible)
You know, now that TWW is almost over, I was reminded of how big of a deal people were making out of Fearin Lothar calling her a Mary Sue. Internet users being hyper emotional knee jerk reactionaries lol, nothing to see here.
I really liked her story in the initial patch but found her appearances after that to be pretty one note
dark skin
female character
no boobs that are the size of a planet
thats all it needs to be labled to "Mary Sue", they are no subtle about that
Mary Sue = female character I don't like, duh.
they arent even trying to hide their racist and misgonistic views anymore
Everyone else during Christmas: Spending time with their family.
Me during Christmas: Beating the shit out of people in the secret fight club under the deeprun tram.
A sizable part of the playerbase not being able to navigate a literal circle honestly explains a lot.
to anyone who actually got lost in Oribos all i have to say is.... Skill issue
I require context
Edit: Oh, is it the lack of color-coding in Oribos?

High mod week has started on r/wowcirclejerk! Quick, everyone hide! The mods are all virgin losers with no family and nothing else to do!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone :)
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you too! :)
40 extra € for a beta access is insane
Beta is whatever, $40 extra for actual release of the game is criminal.
I don't understand why people want beta access tbh. Playing beta as a casual doesn't sounds interesting. I rather experiences the zones/quests when they are finished. And if you wanna try the class changes you can just wait for pre patch. That's just how I feel anyway
People seem to think beta is an extension of "early access," to the point they are willing to pay $90 for it (and then complain that there are bugs and unfinished parts).
tbf beta are basically just early access/demos under another name at this point. but i get what you mean
I want to try the class changes but in an endgame environment. Prepatch testing is bad there's no max talents or sets wich doesnt help deciding what class/spec i'll play and invest time on.
The wow pvp healer circlejerk is genuinely getting to a ridiculous degree at this point
I actually never heard of it genuinely. pve healer sure but pvp?
mediocre healers on social media allready are insufferable, adding PvP to the mix is a whole new level of bs
At this point I'm really wondering if people think Blizzard just put this line in the pre-patch promo for the fun of it or if they genuinely didn't bother reading that most of their complaints were already answered.
I guess I was giving them too much benefit of the doubt, but you're right this is just par for the course.
To be fair I'm like 90% sure that's what they're gonna do.
I'll be very surprised if Sylvanas doesn't die die at somepoint this expansion. It just makes too much sense narratively.
It would be really funny if she died and then just went straight back to the Shadowlands to continue exactly what she was doing before.
Nobbel is just an r/wow poster with a youtube channel. His interaction with the lore is just him reading warcraftwiki summaries.
