It would be so cool if we could have a few bedrooms for different characters, and if you left them in a chair/bed they stay there. I’d just leave my main sitting in a patio chair contemplating life. All my never played Alts sitting around the kitchen table lifeless, and of course my Druid outside in the dog house.
Blizz stated in the reveal tour that having your alts putter around our house is something they want to do, but there are technical limitations preventing it at the moment.
The new AI PvP mode apparently came out of the effort to break through those limitations and gets them closer to letting this happen. I suspect the player echoes that popped up in Delves are related, as well.
So, patience. We'll have our characters living in our house, eventually.
There is an ai pvp mode?
Comp Stomp
There's a new mode that's supposed to be coming in Midnight, but yeah, I got the vibe it's like Comp Stomp. I don't care about PvP, so someone who does can probably provide more info.
Yeah they said it's literally like the Comp Stomp, but the bots will be a tad wiser and better - it's a mode that's supposed to help new players learn the ropes of PvP without pressure from the tryhards. Which is imo always good, cause whenever I try and new competititve game I always prefer to first train with the bots to see how everything works.
Respectfully, that mode goes the same way nearly every match. Rush mill, blacksmith, and farm. Then pushback, finally graveyard farm. I personally don't mind it as it's brainless fun, but unfortunately won't be helping new players learn pvp, heh. It would be nice if bg's had a practice mode where its just you and party with bots vs bots, similar to follower dungeons. In the least, it would help with knowing what the objectives are for each BG.
As I mentioned - they said they improved their AI to be more adaptive and responsive to our tactics. We'll see how it goes, Comp Stomp bots were generally acting a bit lobotomized, but maybe the new ones will be better. Let's wait and see. I'm very positivly surprised by how housing turned out, maybe this thing will too.
I fully agree and also hope to see the improved comp stomp AI.
They def cooked with housing. I don't have a designer mind but my home is a pleasant abode lol.
Yeah, for sure! I'd love for my house to be a kind of shared base for my warband. That would instantly make it feel more "alive"
crowded... the word you need to use is crowded. I mean with around 55 characters right now on my warband the garden and the interior of the building would be packed...
I assumed the idea was more in line with selecting a handful to occupy the space, like the login screen, as opposed to jamming every single goblin and gnome in there lol.
Hahah that's actually a good point. With legion remix it takes about 2 hours to max level a new char. I think I've got like 20 alts now xD
I thought warbands had a limit. Can you show a screenshot? Or does the screen have a limit on how many characters are displayed?
I think the current limit is 65, with the last 10 added with Pandaria and Legion remix-events. Used to be a limit of 50 per server but that's probably no longer the case.
Warband = your entire account.
You can have as many war bands as you want. I have 14 camps currently, with 39 characters. 1 band is my favourite characters/favourite classes, and each other war band is class specific. I have 3 characters of each class, so they all hang out together. The character limit is 65, so theoretically, you could fill up to 17 war bands of 4 characters each.
Once you hit the characters limit, the game will let you know that your roster is full.
You have ONE warband : your entire account.
The little camps you can have on the login screen dont matter, they are still all part of the same warband
I think part of the point of the smaller subsections of warbands on the character select screen was so that in a system like this, you're limited to only see the other characters in that warband.
So if you have Warband A, logging onto a character from that warband will populate your house with the other three in it. Switching to a character from warband B will swap the available roster of characters it will pull from.
I want the pets in there. They managed this for the garrison so they definitely have the tech
I only have 1 bedroom upstairs, otherwise I have my restaurant/ bar and my office downstairs. So I guess one sleeps and the others man the grill/oven and the bar while the rest get fat and drunk lol (I have a LOT of alts) 😄
Making my house like a huge dorm for my warband, I would jump on that!
Dude this would be so rad. I could log out on my toilet and if my friends come by they’d feel so rude.
Or they’d feel . . . Maybe I just log out in my bed
i cant have my character stay in my house.
its a public park with a public toilet shack.
My alts do not live in my main house. One alt lives in my second house though. It's an alliance character living in a horde house
you mean on the war band screen? cause they do stay where you logout at.
Use the home portal before you log out and then they will.
But they won't be visible to other characters in the house, which is what OP would like.
There is always going to be some big limitations on it though. As someone else said you can't have 50+ characters being in your house at once so it will be a "I have 6 characters but blizz only allows 5 why not my 6" and then "only 6 characters but I have 8 why do the other 2 need to be left out" etc. etc.
Wait until you find out what happens in FF14 when you log out in an inn room
Its in instance, not possible right now
This is what happens in Lost Ark for their version of a home base. Your alts wander around your base. Really cool touch.
Would be neat If they only show up in the house if you log them out there. Otherwise they can be out in the world somewhere. Maybe even change it so that you get rested XP only from logging out in your home, and a bonus to rep if you log out in an inn instead as if that toon is out socializing. Would be neat to have more little situation things to make the world feel more alive.
imagine if you could leave your character in your house and if someone clicks on them they can talk as if it was an npc, with the pop up text being customizable
Having logged into housing for less than 30 mins and never looking to see if all my characters share that house, I would say you SHOULD be able to assign your characters there with certain limitations.
One, possibly two per bedroom.
Two to four MAX loitering/sitting on your lawn.
