Once the import feature launches, depending on its implementation, I am certain that at minimum there will be housing dedicated streamers posting their import strings behind a patreon sub.
I'm not saying objects should be purchasable as one. Id rephrase it to "schematics" then. You need to have the objects, but if someone makes a pool made of 20 objects, then I think it should be "importable" and treatable as one item, because moving everything later is not currently possible
No but why add the "pay" part? It's gross that people are so desensitized to monetizing gameplay.
Sharing creations is supposed to be creative and fun, any ingame market based around it would be toxic and sucky. A sharing library would rock. Like The Sims.
You can send tips to people you appreciate. I dont want to have this stuff monetized and advertized and "stolen" and such. Ive got enough capitalism in the real world, and enough ingame too.
Especially in a system where you can just customize stuff to copy literally anything yourself, why wouldnt anyone just do that and then immediately undercut you?
The Sims community would be a lot more toxic if the library wasnt public lmao.
Edit: For the record, if doing this for gold ever did happen, which it wont, I would exclusively tip the undercutters as appreciation for their service lmao
Yes you could and will steal it, that's why the original template of something complex and fancy would cost you a pretty penny, ensuring that the creator is compensated even with a single purchase, and discouraging lil commies from sharing it after having to pay that pretty penny. *rubs his hands* I can already see it hehehe.
Of course, I'd pay gold for custom wa I don't wanna bother with setting up myself np, how's that even a question? You rabble seem to have confused gold for actual money or something.
The one where you get to support the creator for their time/effort?
So you're saying we should pay Blizzard real money for all housing components? Because Blizzard created all of this content, we just choose where to put it.
wonder how many people that expect free content/entertainment in this thread run ad blockers and never sub to their favourite creators.
We literally all pay a monthly sub plus purchase $50+ expansions to play this very game and engage in this exact content....
You’d have a point if the housing system let you import your own 3d models, but this isn’t even in the same realm as paid mods - which themselves are considered ethically messy.
I kinda hope we don't. I love the current system where there is no way for people to just import other people's creations. Even if someone is copying someone's design ideas to make their own thing at least they are still having to make it themselves. It's going to make future builds look far less impressive if they could easily just copy a code from somewhere and paste in a premade.
I get why people would be excited about this, and I still am wanting a save/load layout feature, but the excitement of seeing what other people have been making and meeting new people and them showing me around their builds has been some of the most fun I've had in years. Seeing that it's something they've made and put together is a huge part of the enjoyment, that I feel would be lost and sterilised if people can just paste in whatever creation they want from online.
I agree completely. The only counter point I can imagine would be - importing / exporting builds could actually bring more people into housing... There's a lot of empty or seldomly used houses in my neighborhood already from people not having the investment or creativity to sit down and build up their house. Importing/exporting would allow them to have a nice looking home they can visit..
Then the counter to that would be... why would someone visit a home they had no hand in creating? I don't know. But I still am on your side of it, I think importing/exporting will really dilute a really cool social feature.
The community aspect is something that I doubt will be lost. You'll just have people who clearly imported the default 'pretty house' builds in their own piece of the community.
Meanwhile people who build will most likely have their own part of it.
It's sort of like people who mog into full sets vs. those who make badass mogs. People will most likely be able to tell what is just an import job vs. unique effort.
I get you, but I literally cannot build anymore because to do so would require undoing hours of work or rebuying everything to use in the second home. The import/export thing is deeply needed.
Well I'd argue a save/load functionality would do the exact same thing but without having people importing other people's builds. It should work like transmogs with save slots imo.
Oh 100%. Though, I do like the idea of using other folks pre-made builds for custom campaigns. You could do hidden item puzzles to share. My logic is always if I don't want to, I don't have to use it. Folks will always find a way to have fun their own way.
I'm sure someone will build an illegal scanner that figures out the items + coordinates and then posts a temu copy if you were allowed to market builds.
I would love a way to put down a bunch of items, select all, and move them/rotate them all at the same time.
Alternately, if you “duplicate” an item, let you decide to either put it down in the default position or duplicate the height/rotation of the item you selected.
Regarding this topic, the way things are right now? I would happily pay for an already-done creation like painstakingly placed/rotated windows as a ceiling panel or a selection of plants as a patch of outdoor ground decor, etc.
Oh shit, theres the long game. Figure out which furnitures are the easiest for you to craft, then share custom room blueprints that exclisively use those assets that youre already selling on the auction house, lmao
Apples and oranges. In sims you can make social choices when interacting with other characters and then they move in together, etc. so it's not just building and decorating. I love wow but I really liked the ease at which I could build and decorate in Sims. Also, for freeplay there was an addon you could download that let you have limitless assets, so I never needed to spend money to build lol
I was gonna say that too, but the only people i would want my characters married to would me NPCs (just because i dont trust people not to be weird about it)but i dont know if blizz would allow that
Even just having a random named npc added in for each race would be cool tbh. But, alas, i dont see it happening. The RPer in my soul must always yearn
Would be cool if there is a website where you can upload your house code, like talents and players can import them. With maybe a list of things you still need.
I think it would be a cool idea if they allow us to grant other players decorating rights with our decor inventory so Artists can use their talent to design/decorate other peoples houses. Would be a cool way to make gold that isn't infested by boosting services, and could see people making portfolios of their work and stuff.
Imagine if you could buy entire house designs. I have seen some things made that I love I just don't have the patience to do it myself and in some cases I just can't seem to get it looking right.
I think this would be easily stealable, but an import button to act as one object would be nice, I'm not that creative
I am pretty sure there is an import feature coming at MN launch or after.
Once the import feature launches, depending on its implementation, I am certain that at minimum there will be housing dedicated streamers posting their import strings behind a patreon sub.
Man if people start pulling that shit I may end up dedicating myself to manually recreating each one and distributing them for free.
Ye same I’m making a website for it as we speak
Based
I mean, same thing with some Weakauras.
yeah, I know plenty of streamers sell weakaura/plater packs, I have no issue with it, just saying it's likely to happen.
OnlyDivans Lightsly
Yea if anything I wish there was a “lock” button because I always fat finger and mess up a carefully placed decor
In the non-advanced mover if you just press escape it will put it back where it was.
Insert hundreds of reports for Blizzard to sift through of bots selling other peoples' designs, lmao.
The grind is part of the fun. If you are not creative then it's on you
I'm not saying objects should be purchasable as one. Id rephrase it to "schematics" then. You need to have the objects, but if someone makes a pool made of 20 objects, then I think it should be "importable" and treatable as one item, because moving everything later is not currently possible
This community is weird.
In what world would this be better than freely sharing?
I cba to build it myself but I would pay a few k gold for this or someone to build my house for me lol
No but why add the "pay" part? It's gross that people are so desensitized to monetizing gameplay.
Sharing creations is supposed to be creative and fun, any ingame market based around it would be toxic and sucky. A sharing library would rock. Like The Sims.
In a world where we would like to reward people for their effort?
The simple pleasure of sharing. Not everything should be about making profit greedy goblin
Then you would happily experience said pleasure of sharing your gold, what's the problem? You need gold to feed your starving kids or something?
Well there it is. The stupidest shit I’ve read all day.
Begone moocher, we need Bobby back.
Well there it is. The new stupidest shit I’ve read all day.
Found Bobby's account
<the Crazy Cat Lady>
Do you know how much cat food costs these days?!

Would you still use weak aura if you had to pay gold for each of them? Would you pay for bigwig or elvui?
Of course, I'd pay gold for custom wa I don't wanna bother with setting up myself np, how's that even a question? You rabble seem to have confused gold for actual money or something.
How much are you donating for all of your addons?
That’s not what he said nor is an accurate comparison. There is no custom/personal work being done in this topic. Just fyi.
There’s also literally a gold to money equivalent (currently 300k = $20 or 15k per $1)
There's donation options for all those addons. Stop being a moocher and pay up with real money for real work.
Then donate to their PayPal link lol

I honestly have no idea what any of this has to do with my comment? Did you reply to the wrong person?

To be fair that is a valid idea that I hadn't thought of. Then we get to play their maps, in a way.
What is this water?
I think is just the lights of those windows, not my creation
Ahh interesting
Omg and here's the mentality that ruined actual housing
Holy hell, I need a pool now
I’m just amazed how many people can create these amazing objects in their home
The right side of the bottom step is slightly wider and it's really annoying haha
That’s at LEAST 500 gold off the asking price for me, tbh.
I'm sure someone will build an illegal scanner that figures out the items + coordinates and then posts a temu copy if you were allowed to market builds.
You can do the exact same thing with your eyeballs.......

i wanna move plots but the exterior being oriented all wrong from the different "paths" and having to move and reorient 150 items puts me off
No, no thanks. No.
Then itd explain the reason i havent met anyone in my neighborhood. All good.
I think that ship already sailed in Diablo. If gold didn't actually have a direct tie in with real money I could see the potential.
OP stop right fucking now I aint ever going to own cause of black rock dont make black rock a thing in wow.
Yeah lets not
We need wow realtors !!!
You kinda do by providing the blueprint and then selling the required assets.
Oh shit, theres the long game. Figure out which furnitures are the easiest for you to craft, then share custom room blueprints that exclisively use those assets that youre already selling on the auction house, lmao
Whats better The Sims or WoW atm?

WoW needs a version of the gallery for housing
Tbh minor character interaction things, like being able to adopt an orphan ala skyrim sounds like it would be fun.
And character weddings.
I was gonna say that too, but the only people i would want my characters married to would me NPCs (just because i dont trust people not to be weird about it)but i dont know if blizz would allow that
Man, if they did my lightforged Draenei is marrying T'paartos lol
Even just having a random named npc added in for each race would be cool tbh. But, alas, i dont see it happening. The RPer in my soul must always yearn
I think it'd be nice to be able to "package" a whole room. You sell it as-is. The seller loses all the decor, the buyer gets all decor.
With some sort of preview option and so on.
Just plug and play, no need to get a list of stuff to farm etc.
Imagine you sold your second creation for gold in a House Market
Creation by Melissa Hawk 2
Would be cool if there is a website where you can upload your house code, like talents and players can import them. With maybe a list of things you still need.
GTA Vice City vibes
People in other games hire housing designers for in game gold
I think they should add something where you can pay people to come decorate your house for you.
Oh, you mean Second Life! 🤭🤭🤭
What are those palm tree things?
Then wow will become the first real metaverse.
I think it would be a cool idea if they allow us to grant other players decorating rights with our decor inventory so Artists can use their talent to design/decorate other peoples houses. Would be a cool way to make gold that isn't infested by boosting services, and could see people making portfolios of their work and stuff.
Bro this is sick
Fuck your concept lmao
Dune has that system. You can sell a building blueprint for gold
Imagine if you could buy entire house designs. I have seen some things made that I love I just don't have the patience to do it myself and in some cases I just can't seem to get it looking right.
Gross
