The part of the world where the action happens is a peninsula where two tectonic plates meet. Because of this, there is a mountain range dividing the landmass into two parts.

The wind is coming from the north, bringing wet air. Stopped by the mountains, the moisture rains down in the north. The south is a dry steppe.

What lies in the northwest is unknown.

In a bay to the west is a small village, separated from the rest of the world. Because of the rock formations in the water, no ship can reach it. The path through the mountains is difficult and can only be traveled in summertime.

The world is populated by different races, that do not communicate very much.

Humans in the steppe in the south. Fauns in the wet north. Meerefolk in the fjords of the East Dwarwens in the mountains in the middle.

  • This must be a big world to have several races in it that don’t communicate together even after establishing settlements and battlefields?

Not criticizing or pointing out a fault or anything but just curious, my own world is gigantic, like, it’ll take five full years to get from one end of the planet to the other type of deal and with that scale in mind, it’s how I “justify” several different societies at various stages of ages.

That's a really good point! I think I have to put more though in the scale.

I just started and I am grateful for every hint and remark

It’s good to take real world elements to it, too! My “Iceland” is the most advanced kingdom because like actual Iceland, being isolated and self-reliant creates a high quality of living when nobody’s around to bug ya!

I imagine your hidden village can be host to good things in the same margin. Protagonist’s hometown? The one place that’s fortified and protected?

Yes! The village will be the hometown of one of the protagonist. It's neither rich nor poor. They live a simple live, without conflicts,until...

The north is also rather simple and poor. They got lots of food and water, but do not have the urge to destroy the nature to build big cities, or to horde valuables. They seem to be not well developed, but only at a first glance.

The south is rich, because of the good connection to a calm see, that allowed lor of trading.

I am not sure what to do with the East yet.

  • The lake at Nymrasil don’t make sense. Where is the water from the rivers suposed to flow away?

  • Blackwater :money_mouth:

  • Ok just so we are clear here:

You ask us to roast the realism of your setting, as in make mean jokes at the expense of your creation? Am I reading your request right here?

Maybe it's not the right word, as Englisch is Not my best language. But yeah, if you find anything wrong, tell me. If it's I a good mean joke I am fine

  • It doesn't look like Earth at all. Totally fantasy.

    Good Luck with your project.

  • I always like to structure my mountains to plate tectonics. This area reminds. Me of Japan. So it could be heavily volcanic. If you look on the east coast of Asia specifically in the Russian north, it resembles your topography.

  • You decided that world maps based on Europe are boring, and all you came up with was just flipping it.

  • I hope I provided already enough context in the post.

The map is made with incarnate. I am at the very beginning of my world building and hope to get some advice if this map is somewhat realistic.
