I’m curious, been reading that porn is effecting how many men view sex and more women are experiencing aggressive/ violent sexual experiences due to this. Has anyone experienced this, does it come from any particular age group?
Porn addiction can literally rewire the brain’s reward and pleasure pathways, and men are statistically more prone to it than women. Many boys are exposed to porn at a very young age, often starting with relatively vanilla content. Over time, repeated exposure leads to desensitization. What once triggered arousal no longer does, so they begin chasing more extreme material to achieve the same dopamine response.
The insidious part is that much of the porn widely available is misogynistic and frequently violent in how it depicts women. When boys and young men consume this content during formative years, it can become a default source of quick gratification. That pattern can repeat for years or decades, reinforcing unhealthy reward loops and shaping how their brains process sex, intimacy, and desire.
On a large scale, this does not just harm individual men. It damages relationships, distorts expectations around sex and consent, and contributes to broader societal issues around misogyny, objectification, and sexual dysfunction. When an entire generation is conditioned to associate arousal with degradation and escalation, the effects ripple far beyond personal habits and into culture as a whole.
At risk of sounding prudish, the whole industry needs to be reworked or banned all together considering the damage and at scale that it does.
Yes. Woman mid-40's here and I quit dating quite some time ago, in part due to the frequency with which I was coming across men who have porn addled brains. The results were always at least one of the following: being strangled with no prior communication for consent, men who couldn't get a full erection or maintain an erection, and men who can't ejaculate.
It's not just the physical side which is either a total let-down or downright dangerous in some instances; it's also about the lack of self-control and regulation that is obviously an issue for them. I find it incredibly off-putting. This lack of self-control will show up in other areas (and indeed it very clearly did very early on with some of them: terrible handling of finances and getting into debt because of compulsive spending, as an example).
I began experiencing this when I started dating again in my mid-30s, after the end of a long relationship.
Dating is not worth it for most women, unfortunately.
A lot of women have checked out of dating either entirely or at least stopped using dating apps because of this. And rightly so. It's too dangerous.
Porn definitely makes men have these wild expectations as well, especially for their interest in trans women, the fantasy makes them think we are just like them in how we get pleasure and orgasm, and they are obsessed with using slurs to describe us when meeting us irl or online.
There are many posts regarding this. It’s terribly sad how it is truly rotting their brains to think certain things are okay or acceptable. Most men have no idea how to even correctly pleasure a woman. Porn makes men selfish to their needs and horrible lovers. The violence on woman it perpetuates to young men who have no real role models is a huge problem. Not to mention the pedo’s… porn is the marketing department for pedos and sex trafficking. The men are learning real quick tho, the numbers are changing and woman aren’t putting up with this misogyny like the past.
Yes, def! It started affecting men when the internet started providing it. It wasn't rampant during formative years until the Millenial generation. Since then the negative affects on women have been growing crazy fast. It has affected all generations, up to current senior citizens who can be nasty sexually.
It has destroyed so many men's ability to form any real intimate connection. Everything feels like they're acting out something from porn, and the woman is a prop. It's very yuck.
Listen to your intuition, trust yourself, get out of any relationship where you notice this, asap, because it will get much worse once the relationship's honeymoon period is over...
(It's porn and gratuitous, excessive masterbation)
Jfc. I had a boyfriend that started watching at 9. If i didn't cum in under 5 minutes, I got slapped on the head and told I was retarded.
Porn is fake.
I find it a great tragedy for so many people. From the women dreaming of having fulfilling respectful sex lives that can never be found, to the men robbed of empathy for women, to the children being targeted by the porn industrial complex to commodify one of life’s few gifts. Pornography is a public health and human rights violation
Men as a whole often have a glaring issue with porn consumption / addiction but the lots of men of the younger generations that got a phone and unrestricted access to the internet at single digit ages seem to have had their dopamine receptors completely fried by flooding them constantly with images of women being humiliated and degraded
Just figured I should share some input from my side.
I am a man, and actually was first exposed to this in 3rd grade. It really messed me up in how I viewed women personally (also didn't help that I was struggling with many many other worse things). It changed the way I had viewed women to (in some ways) objects. From the prior mentioned stuff, I grew up fast and realized that it wasn't a good view, and got close to my step-sister in order to help myself think differently. It took years, but I have definitely gotten much better.
In terms of how that affects other men, I would say I had to mature so fast that I realized the issue early on. Most men don't have that capability because of them being so young, and then because we can't express issues to other people, struggle with that internally.
I just wanted to share my personal experience from my side of the yard.
As a male, let me tell you about the experience. The less I be with girls the more porns I watch, the more I be with girls (either hanging out or dating, etc), the less I want porn, it's also irreversible, so once porns start to get fake/ awkward after you know what real life girls are, it's harder and harder for me to come back to porn.
Anyway that's just me, others could be different, but I've heard similar opinions from my friends too so I think it at least tracks to some extent.
Do not share this message without the nuance it requires. Women do not like feeling unsafe. Women do not like being abused. Being subjected to male behavior influenced by porn without full consent is very different from liking rough sex.
Well I did . It’s pretty self explanatory . Like see how you explain that to yourself ? Allow others to do the same lol . I was addressing the aggression part because some women like that , true statement. Why not tell them stop doing what you don’t like ? Speak tf up lol . If they don’t listen then ok yeah cry wolf but not speaking up and then blame the guy for doing what he likes when you put your likes to the side yeah no. I give no passes to people pleasers who cry later about it. Because that’s basically who you’re speaking about or op is speaking about because it says nothing about SA here. Thank you . Next .
On a post about women experiencing violent tendencies in porn-addled men, you comment that “some women like aggression”. The nuance is actually necessary, all context leads the reader to assume you mean women experiencing male violence actually enjoy it. Women like yourself perpetuate rape culture. Patriarchy conditions women to stay silent and protect men’s egos. That’s why we’re teaching the new generations the necessity of enthusiastic consent instead of keeping the current system of blaming victims like you’re doing.
And now I’ll do the NEXT part that I stated earlier and take back my Thankyou. Take your word salad elsewhere . I reject that. Bunch of stuff I did not say nor imply. Goofy manners of you .
They do, and I’m sure they wouldn’t be complaining about it. I was thinking more from the women who don’t, it sounds like from some of the responses they’re not getting much choice about it.
A lot of women aren’t telling the men what they like or want. I have a old friend who was scared to tell the guy she was with to go down on her longer.
Literally . It’s SA only if we speak up and they don’t listen. If we never say anything that’s on us . So yes I agree that we have to speak up and say what we want .
Its crazy cause a lot of guys want to know what we like. I remember a few years ago a man was telling me this right before we got started and he said that a lot of times he just trying to figure it out. So I’m guessing men in general are just doing they like. And if many women are doing this. It make sense on the man not really caring for us during sex because of other women.
And because we need to speak up. I feel you here because I’ve heard men saying how “she made me feel like a creep” or “she made me feel like I didn’t know what I was doing “. Etc and they would talk about how said women don’t say anything until afterwards and now they are accused of SA when her wants and needs her dos and don’t were never disclosed. I’ve done it before and didn’t speak up. I noticed to when you speak up , unless they are a straight predator, they do listen. They don’t know what we don’t tell them. Most I knew also that had watched porn realized porn was a problem because of women speaking up for themselves. So they literally are learning about sex from porn and not being corrected in real life by the people who should be correcting them which is us . We have to stop being scared and shy.

Just my 2c.

yes. this is true. porn teaches men to view women as objects not equal participants. porn is unnecessary and wrong. it should be abolished.

It’s worse for men who grew up watching porn. Some of these men are approaching 40. This is a big part of why dating is so bad now.
Jfc. I had a boyfriend that started watching at 9. If i didn't cum in under 5 minutes, I got slapped on the head and told I was retarded. Porn is fake.
Men should start learning how to give women pleasure before watching porn that just teaches them how to abuse and hurt women.
Jesus Christ.

this is exactly why (along with other reasons) why i chose to not watch porn OR be with someone who watches it.
Just figured I should share some input from my side.

Stop being a male apologist.

Some women would willingly get eaten by wild animals if men didn’t hunt those animals to extinction.
