Thats hilarious. I mean not that someone was bit and will need rabies shots, but the whole scene sounds like something out of a 1980's John Candy movie.
Wild that this happened at the Grand Geneva . We go almost every year for the Christmas lights . Poor racoon, and person who was bit . Rabies shots are not fun from what I've heard .
They aren't pleasant my mom had to have it because of a cat bite . She said it was super embarrassing and not fun. The hotel should pay for there shots
From what I read from supposed staff members was that the animal was cornered away from guests in a room and one guest went out of their way to try and remove it. No one else was bit because they were waiting for the professionals like most people with a brain would do.
I have had it as well. The only bad part for me is I had to wait in the Froedtert ER waiting room on Tuesday night in January for about 9 hours until the had someone available to administer the shot.
They aren't bad just an inconvenience. You have to go back and get a shot 2-3 times. I was known as the "monkey man" at the clinic I was getting the shots at.
Exactly.. My fam used to rehab them also. I moved to another state when I got older and ended up rehabbing a couple since somehow I knew some people that found baby raccoons with no mother. I knew the process and how to do it, had the space, so couldn’t say no. Even with raising raccoons, there’s no way I’d attempt to pick a wild one up. That’s pure ignorance by the tourist.
Little dude was just after that bottle service his cousin told him about. Then this jackass guest was trying to steal his booze. I don’t like victim blaming but they kinda had it coming
This place is a nightmare. The raccoons there have been reported as dangerous for months and they haven’t done anything about it. Incompetence at its finest
Wait what? I live near the resort, how long has this been a problem for? Have there been previous incidents?? That's hilarious. I'm going skiing there tomorrow, hopefully the ski lodge isn't infested too lmao

Caddy Shack came to my mind as I read that headline.
They might not need the shots; the racoon was put down and sent for testing.

The shots aren’t too bad, it is the cost of them that is the bad part.

The Grand Geneva will be paying for those shots and quite a bit more. they certainly would be if I got bit there anyway.
The guest that was bitten went out of there way to get bit instead of waiting for professionals to safely relocate the wild animal.
So there was supposed to be a way for wild animals to get into the dining room or is it possible there was negligence?

Bahahaha. Grand Geneva is paying.

I thought they had to give a crazy huge shot into your stomach through your abdomen?
I've heard that that's how they used to do it decades ago, but the mechanics of getting the shot has improved.
🙏
Naw that's the old school way. The only huge shot I got was right where the bite mark was. The rest seemed normal.
I'm glad
Just got married there this summer, and had my rehearsal in that exact restaurant lol. it's not a huge area so i assume it was quite the commotion.
I don't know the resort, but I am certainly trying to picture the patrons' reactions
The guest grabbed the raccoon when they really shouldn't have.
Foolish behavior from the guest.
That can't be good for business.
That's not gonna be good for anyone
If it's not yet, this should definitely be cross posted in r/nottheonion
I just saw this sad it had to be euthanized. I wish there was another way to test for rabies 😢
The first mistake was attempting to pick up a raccoon. My fam used to rehab them years ago when I was little. Yikes.

Someone posted a "Why racoons cannot be domesticated" video, very informative and entertaining!
And once they hit adolescence…
lol I have a relative who works there. I asked him if they had a new buffet item.
Here's the bodycam video.

They were all jacked up on energy drinks and junk food at Gary Con.
WTF is it about Reddit and people being so dang melodramatic? It seems to be getting worse by the day.
Wish I could see it!
The Marcus Group own the Grand Geneva. Guess they must not like to maintain anything. No news there.
Was this a Friday? Was the guest enjoying an Old Fashioned with their fried walleye?
That place is going to the dumps
Noo Raccoon Noos strikes again
