People post these threads once a month, and many people snark them, and then a few people say “the library” or some actual cafe. I finally tried going to the library, and TBH the Greenpoint library rocks for WFH quietly. It’s clean, spacious, quiet.
Not free, but get a co working membership at Industrious. Make an out of town state as your home so your monthly is lower and just go the one on Wythe.
I travel a lot and industrious is all over the country. The quality is the amazing and people r super nice. I’ve worked out of Spaces’, we work etc. Industrious is the shit. Call one up and ask for a free day. There’s like 22+ between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
im sorry you feel that way but its a genuine pain point for alot of people that do go to coffee shops to either study or just sit and can never find a seat. especially in this cold its disheartening to have to travel around so much, which is why im conducting interviews to find the pain points! I cant tell why so much negativity can come from you. But I hope you have a better day and a happy holiday!
to add on that’s a beautifully severe claim for a space whose entire ontology depends on people showing up, buying coffee, and staying long enough to justify the rent. Treating a café as something that can be ‘spoiled’ by presence assumes it was ever outside economy, use, or routine to begin with. At that point, it’s less a critique of intrusion and more a romantic attachment to an imaginary pre-laptop Eden.
Plenty to do quiet work but if you wanna take calls that’s a co-working space

The West, located directly above the Union Ave Metropolitan/Lorimer station, has been my go-to since moving to the neighborhood.
The staff is lovely, prices more than fair, and tons of outlets available in case you need a charge. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

I very much so agree with your last point!
