- Razor: Schick E Type injector
- Soap: Arko
- Brush: Vintage rubberset with Finest Badger re-knot
- Blades: Week 1: Parker, Week 2: Supply
This dainty little E-type is often at hand for buffing, and it fits places like under the nose, but I hadn't used it for my daily shave for quite a while. The first week was with a Parker blade that has been in it for months, probably at least 2 weeks worth of shaves already on it, but it was still going strong. Smooth, effortless shave, very close and comfortable.
I bought some Supply Co. Japanese blades on sale during black Friday, and decided to extend my weekly swap of the razor to try them out. First problem, the injector blade is plastic, and way too thick! impossible to use in my vintage Schick. Fortunately the E-type swings open and I was able to manually insert the blade. I do not like these blades (and I regret buying two packs!) They drag, don't seem as sharp, and I even got a weeper today, which is a rare event. I got an acceptable shave every day this week, but also minor irritation with some alum block feedback almost every day. (I don't use an alum block on every shave, just when I feel that it was a bit rough!)
The Parker blades on the other hand are sharp, smooth and seem to last a very long time.
They are a lot cheaper too with 20 to the pack as opposed to 7.
Classic setup, shave. I tried sanding the Supply plastic key end it still would not insert, fit into my various vintage Schick’s. So I had to manually empty the cartridge and manually insert them into an old Schick container. I wasn’t to impressed with the Supply. They struggled at times and they did not seem to hold onto their edge. So I stuck with the yellow Schick, the Parker which I believe is Personna Ted Pella. Not 100% sure. I need to acquire some of the made in Japan Schick B-2 blades and give them a try.
Thanks for this. I’ve been curious about these blades for my Type E, but I’ll definitely be avoiding now! Thank you!
I really like the Parker blades, if you haven't I'd encourage giving them a try!
Thanks, I’ll have to try them out. My current favorites are the Schick Prolines (B-20).
