This creature is a basket star

I mean brittle stars aren't dangerous to people and if you know what it is, it makes sense to pick it up, especially if you're going to put it back in the water so it doesn't suffocate. This person is also using gloves; which is overall better so they don't get their oils or anything on it :)

This person is using fingerless gloves so still has the risk of whatever transfer gloves would mitigate.

They aren’t toxic or poison to touch or anything. They feel really strange but they can’t hurt you, at least as long as this is the same as the ones I am familiar with. They are deep sea creatures and they come up on my crab pots. This is a different creature but it feels sort of the same. rough, but not sharp. I couldn’t find my pictures of the basket/brittle stars.

Pretty sure those are crinoids :) they're in the same phylum as basket/brittle stars

Is that thing dancing to soft rock music?

No, it's suffocating to soft rock music.

Stop holding it out of the water for so long!! It can't breathe. FFS

I think it's so pretty...I want to hold one to see what it feels like. Since, ya know, I'm not at risk for it to melt my skin off.

It reminds me of the creature from The Thing, I don't actually want to kill it with fire.

1: they know exactly what it is and thus can gauge the danger it poses.

    2: they're wearing gloves

I don't think this belongs in the sub

    Kill it with fire

Man, it freaks me out too, but why should we kill some living organism just because it's creepy?

Some people just jump up to talk out their ass (who of us never shitpost?) especially using cliches. I'm betting they're just memeing...or simple.
