I agree, i do believe in karma, but i had parents that wanted to make sure I didn’t take shit from any employer or the like and so hard coded in the idea of not doing something for nothing, and so here i an decoding myself from time to time
This is what karma is. Giving comes back whether you think it does or not. And most likely not from the person you gave to. Their reaction or appreciation is also irrelevant. Your attitude about giving is what’s most relevant.
I have an issue where I have taken it a step further and feel that any good I have done is invalidated if I benefit in any way, or if people learn about it and say something to me, etc.
"We humans do not understand compassion. In each moment of our lives, we betray it. Aye, we know of its worth, yet in knowing we then attach to it a value, we guard the giving of it, believing it must be earned, T’lan Imass. Compassion is priceless in the truest sense of the word. It must be given freely. In abundance." - Steven Erikson
Thinking that this equates to letting people take advantage of you is wrong.
Here's an example:
If someone was being taken advantage of and you had the power to stop it, you would. The same applies to yourself; being good means stopping harm, including harm to yourself. So you can always stand up for yourself, regardless of always choosing good.
I believe in fuckism. Fuck everybody and shine yourself in the crowd. Help the one in need but don't be a fucking doormat dude. Helping everyone in the delusion of being a "cosmically validated good person" is not the 1 golden truth.
The community has not determined if your post is a Wholesome Meme.
Don't confuse this with just taking the shit life presents you. Not taking shit doesn't make you a bad person

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! This must be said.
Yes, but it's also pretty hard to distinguish between actual shit and things appearing shittier than they really are.
Striking a balance between resilience and not taking life's shit is really difficult
I also think it's important to know when you're giving too much and not being given back to.
Relationships are two ways. (I'm totally not saying this for myself 😭)
You don't have to believe in after death rewards to be a good person in this life.
I don’t believe in a life after death either 😌
I believe in worms eating my flesh
All the more reason to make the most of the life we do have
how do you cope with being dead forever and never feeling this again
not being sarcastic just really struggling
The main thing is believe in cats, everything else is unimportant.
I have an issue with this, like my brain auto jumps to “what am I gaining” and i have to step back and tell myself that.
I think that what you get back can come from a different person than the one you gave to.

You live in a world that is a little kinder, knowing that your actions have made it so.
Trust the process.
You won't always be able to see or predict what you might gain, unexpected things always happen. Just trust the process.
I find that good things DO come back in return though, so there’s that. It makes life a lot more pleasant in general, too.
Legit, I read this too quickly and saw ‘I believe in Autism’ I was like, umm yeah me too bro. Respect I guess 🤣
I believe in autism too

I raise you
I like this just for how funny it is 😄
I believe in autism too!
It’s very prevalent in my life!
No but that's exactly what my autistic brain read too 💀
I second this
That's the difference between 'good' & 'self interested & manipulative'.

Doing good feels good. It is often it's own reward. I don't like feeling like a bad person
I have an issue where I have taken it a step further and feel that any good I have done is invalidated if I benefit in any way, or if people learn about it and say something to me, etc.
I am neurotic lol
Oh no 🙁 sounds like it might help to talk to a therapist about that..?
nah, I just keep my good deeds anonymous

This is easy. What's hard is doing the right thing when it costs you.
I also believe in autism
Yes
I say I don’t expect anything in return when I do something good, but there’s always that part of me that wants something in return.
It's simple: don't become bad because of bad people, otherwise you'll become one of them.
Story of my life but I am cool with it.
Be good to good people be worse to bad people.

I hope I will be the good person
There's a naive aspect to this.
Nah, I will pass on this nonsense
Why is it nonsense?
Don’t be good. Nothing comes out of it. Don’t be an asshole either but don’t be good. Just focus on yourself and family

Nein zieh Grenzen Sonst sterben wir aus, das ist schlecht für alle.
