Mods of the giant subs insist on maintaining mod power while doing no mod work, so subs with 10mil+ users have average 5 posts a day with <50 comments each.
Better believe reddit's gonna clean house at some point when they realize how much money they're leaving on the table, until then the mods enjoy their weirdo power fantasies modding dead subs.
By some fluke I made it in the top 10 posts on r/mildlyinteresting today and while it just passed 1000 upvotes (like, as I’m writing this), it was severely downvote bombed early on. Upvote percentage was under 50% for a while, no idea what was going on with that.
Have you thought of only putting big anime titties on your meme. No pun. No text. Just anime titties, because apparently those are always “High effort memes”.
Had this happen on r/devilmaycry where I had posted a dumb little meme I spent a good 30 minutes or so making only for it to get deleted because it was considered low effort. Like don't get me wrong it wasn't comedy gold or anything but when someone else literally just uploaded unedited Power Ranger clips that just so happened to have the same actors from the Devil May Cry series and that was STILL up, it kinda hurts man
My favorite response I’ve gotten is “removed for breaking a rule. that rule isn’t listed as a rule and also doesn’t apply here. Also low quality. Also I hate you”
I may have added that last bit but i think it was there in the subtext
The other day (while showering) I envisioned the "Man Ray returning Patrick Starfish's wallet" meme, describing a user attempting to post an actual thought they had while showering to r\showerthoughts.
After the USA's election I posted a single election-meme to half a dozen subs that allowed for political memes, one of them was r/ConservativeMemes .
My post got automatically removed for not being a verified conservative, but after an hour or so the mods manually approved my post because it wasn't breaking any rules; I didn't even have to ask.
Whereas all the other subs that then automatically banned me for having posted a single thing on ConservativemeMemes not only weren't checked by mods, but also proudly say that you will be automatically muted if you try to message the mods.
One party sub advocates for the consequences of your words through private regulation, one party thinks they should be able to say whatever you want. Both actually implement regulation. Weird that this isn’t the biggest complaint.
Yo I remember this exact comment! Yeah this website is insane in regards to bans...Irrationally gratuitous with dishing them out, as well as enforcing them.
Mods always do permabans too--never temporary. I would prefer to be told exaclty what I did wrong and be given at least 1 chance to correct my behavior...Instead of never being able to participate in the sub ever in my life ever again. That seems very extreme.
They don’t want to deal with getting raided, as they’re a rather easy target. It does have the unfortunate side effect of discouraging dissident discussion and creating an echo chamber.
Like 90% of the posts are made by the same 5-6 people it does a bit more than discourage discussion it's a carefully curated echo chamber for propaganda.
I really wish Reddit would let us just block entire subreddits from ever showing up on our feeds anymore. I'd 100% block any sub that bans you for posting on a subreddit that isn't even theirs.
In my experience, it works perfectly on the mobile app but does not work on the desktop website.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I muted the subreddits from the mobile app
I literally saw this happen a day ago on Losercity. I saw this funny comic about fantasy elves and north pole elves get deleted because it “wasn’t intended to be funny” or some crap.
I posted "A comment you left could have been screenshotted and posted on a subreddit and you'll never know unless you stumble across it" on r/RandomThoughts and it got taken down. No reason given. A mod just decided they didn't like it, I guess
Also my post on r/pcbuilding that everyone liked and there where people giving genuine helpful advise got removed, I got sad because I loved the video that I reposted
“Wow so much effort behind this post, im gonna look at this for 5 minutes laughing before continuing to delete everything else just because I can” - Mod Team
i dont even post at all no matter how big or small a subreddit is im always scared everyone will hate it- ive posted like twice and it got like 7 upvotes and 2 comments in all
had a post deleted off of r/comedyheaven bc you "can't cross post if the original is already funny in context" when 90% of posts are cross posts of very obvious shitposts
i posted on a thread in r/music about the erika nicki minaj thing - i replied to someone saying nicki had beef with cardi B and i said, both are trash human beings because cardi admitted to drugging AND raping men. several posters kept asking for evidence, i had trouble finding a link that confirmed she raped someone, only found the one saying she drugged them. then the following day i found the link confirming she made a video saying she would rape her ex's. it was deleted by the mods LOL. of course, no response from the two idiots trying to defend her.
I have no idea why these pathetic jannies/mods obsessively seek out reasons to delete posts. If a post is performing well in the community and it's at least relevant to the sub, then just leave it. Chill.
I had a popular post get deleted because it was a repost on the sub from like 4 years ago. Bro. Nobody cares what happened on your sub 4 years ago. If the post is still relevant 4 years later, just let it be.
Idk why they think they need to perform a constant "cleanup" on their sub to keep it "perfect" and without duplicates that are literally years apart from each other. Literally nobody's paying attention to duplicates that are multiple years apart. Nor does it ruin anybody's experience. at all. Especially if it's just a meme-sharing sub or whatever.
Sorry, your post was removed for breaking rule 69: Only post memes on a Tuesday from 6 PM to 9 PM PDT after having dodged 54 bullets on the top of Mt. Everest and having swallowed 9 pounds of ketchup while also having 20,000 post karma and 20,000 comment karma.
It's funny looking at some of the older popular subreddits and seeing most posts have several thousand up votes, then sorting by top of the last month or so and realizing that there's like 30 posts in total because everything else was removed
Your post can influence the masses, thus your post must fall in line with the agenda. Deviation from the agenda will result in posts being replaced by the Bee movie.
I can't believe they removed the cylinder in an m&ms tube post. Archiving it is fine, but deleting it? Are mods retarded? It's practically one of reddit's wonders.

"You have been permanently banned from posting..."
"you have been muted from ....... for 29 days"
Hmm. Never got that one.
It only happens if you ask why
Ah yes. When you appeal a ban and use reason & logic in your defense. Got it.
Luckily, I don't think they can do it for more than a month so I used to just ask again after the mute was up
Meanwhile some mid ass post that was posted 15 minutes after yours goes viral and front page
a post i commented on on this very subreddit just got one of these, damn :(
Yes.
My post about which senators voted to block the release of the Epstein files was removed by the mods of r/MapPorn after becoming the top post on r/all
Removed, always removed, always by automod.

"Removed due to Rule 6: No Low Effort Memes"
(the meme clearly required more effort than 90% of the shit that gets posted on the sub, the mod just didn't like it)
Have you thought of only putting big anime titties on your meme. No pun. No text. Just anime titties, because apparently those are always “High effort memes”.
Had this happen on r/devilmaycry where I had posted a dumb little meme I spent a good 30 minutes or so making only for it to get deleted because it was considered low effort. Have you considered simply reposting the top post from 6 weeks ago?
Animemes sub, those guys delete anything, it's not fun, it's the same recycled NSFW slop

Dont even have to post anything, in fact.
Wanted to comment on r/conservative. My message got auto-deleted, because i wasnt confirmed as a conservative.
Then, because of the single message that got auto-deleted, i got automatically permabanned from r/interestingasfuck
r/conservative: supports free speech and calls reddit a liberal echo chamber
Also r/conservative: bans you if you're not a conservative
What do they mean by this? 🤔
well they aren’t a liberal echo chamber are they
why did chara make them- nevermind chara is banned
why would chara make them ban chara

that place calls you a fake conservative if you disagree with literally anything lol
Its so funny to scroll there and seeing conservatives call other conservatives brigaders or shills the second they have one differing opinion
They also ban you if you are a conservative lol
The second you disagree with a conspiracy nutjob or something you're gone
It didn't ban them, just deleted their message. It was one of the reddit's most popular subs that banned them just for interacting with the wrong sub.
is having anything you post be immediately auto-deleted not functionally equivalent to being banned?
After the USA's election I posted a single election-meme to half a dozen subs that allowed for political memes, one of them was r/ConservativeMemes .
My post got automatically removed for not being a verified conservative, but after an hour or so the mods manually approved my post because it wasn't breaking any rules; I didn't even have to ask.
Whereas all the other subs that then automatically banned me for having posted a single thing on ConservativemeMemes not only weren't checked by mods, but also proudly say that you will be automatically muted if you try to message the mods.
So the difference can be quite severe.

Damn, you can get permabanned for reposting a comment?
Yo I remember this exact comment! Yeah this website is insane in regards to bans...Irrationally gratuitous with dishing them out, as well as enforcing them.
Mods always do permabans too--never temporary. I would prefer to be told exaclty what I did wrong and be given at least 1 chance to correct my behavior...Instead of never being able to participate in the sub ever in my life ever again. That seems very extreme.
lol, I also thought it looked like freddy, good think I didn't comment that because it would have rattled some piece of shit
Okay but that was pretty insensitive
Like the ban wasn't deserved but still the comment being removed would be understandable
Ok that is a valid permaban
I really don't know if you are stupid or if this is sarcasm.
Maybe just a three day ban would have been sufficient
i would accept a three month ban.
Permenent? NAAAHH!
Tf
How tf were you supposed to get confirmed as conservative
idk probably by being homophobic?
i dont even know what conservative means at this point
neither do they lmao
me neither all i know is most of them are bigots in some way or form
Anti-woke. But the definition of woke changes to fit all occasions.
Messaging mods, they review your post history/comments.
You have to message the mods to comment?
that is bullshit
They don’t want to deal with getting raided, as they’re a rather easy target. It does have the unfortunate side effect of discouraging dissident discussion and creating an echo chamber.
Like 90% of the posts are made by the same 5-6 people it does a bit more than discourage discussion it's a carefully curated echo chamber for propaganda.
You provide the mods with a dead girl or a live boy
Damn, subreddit beef goes kinda hard ngl
I really wish Reddit would let us just block entire subreddits from ever showing up on our feeds anymore. I'd 100% block any sub that bans you for posting on a subreddit that isn't even theirs.
It does, just mute it
Exactly... I keep seeing people ask for this feature when it literally existed for ages now
it still shows up on popular, and other places, no?
In my experience, it works perfectly on the mobile app but does not work on the desktop website.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I muted the subreddits from the mobile app
Fun fact: those automatic bans are handed out by saferbot and safestbot, and if you block those users it stops
Lmao I got banned from that sub for saying that a weird ant looked like a lord of the mysteries monster
The same thing happened to me!
Wait until you have to prove your skin colour
r/Comedyheaven deletes like 99% of the posts I see. If I comment on a fresh post and check 2 hours later, the post has always been nuked
There is a reason why r/comedyhell is a thing
It’s certainly more fun
Yeah, I’ve posted twice on that subreddit, and they were removed for “not fitting on the subreddit” with no further explanation
came to say the same thing lmao. no crossposts but most of what i see are crossposts
r/anime_irl would like a word
Any subreddit that has the “no low effort/unfunny memes” rule (the mods didn’t like your post)
“no unfunny memes” is stupid
Humor is subjective. If I wanna laugh at 2010 humor, fucking let me
This rule just shows that the mods want to present their “superior” sense of humor whenever they have the chance to.
In reality it shows that their sense of humor is nothing more than limited. Just like everyone else’s.
I literally saw this happen a day ago on Losercity. I saw this funny comic about fantasy elves and north pole elves get deleted because it “wasn’t intended to be funny” or some crap.

I'm on reddit every day and this has never happened to me
now that i type it out loud it does kinda sound pathetic whoops
“Do you have prints?”
See OP, the trick is you need to post political contents if you want them to gain any traction, even when the subreddit is clearly non-political.
Just look at the front page.
fair point.
what kind of politics should i post about? the lib-owner or bill's boner?
All my posts on r/peterexplainsthejoke on less than 5 minutes despite writing the title a little more elaborated
Also my post on r/pcbuilding that everyone liked and there where people giving genuine helpful advise got removed, I got sad because I loved the video that I reposted
then there are people with just "petah" with 3 additional H's.

Dude I sometimes post actual questions in r/overwatch and most of the time they autodelete it for being "low effort"
Your question has been removed, because you didn’t intensively research and come to the answer yourself already
I like to, upon finding a sub that I want to actually participate in, is pro-actively block the mods.
As a user of old reddit, the admins have in their infinite wisdom removed the ability for me to even determine if a subreddit has a lot of users.
I tried to post to the Pokémon subreddit and it got nuked for something ridiculous so I blocked them because I’m avoiding that kind of behavior.
Your post can influence the masses, thus your post must fall in line with the agenda. Deviation from the agenda will result in posts being replaced by the Bee movie.
Any post on r/cosplay
r/Evangelion I love the anime but 99% of users and content gets removed lol
Yup. That's how it goes.
I’m convinced people get their posts deleted so much because those big subs are meant for bots only but won’t admit it.
do those even exist?
I'm one of the lucky ones who posted on a 1m+ subreddit and actually got a serious amount of upvotes
"6. Titles must be an exact but concise description of the content" guess mods didn't like getting reminded they're old with my context
Relatable
AutoMod ban unless low-effort leftist agenda post.
AutoMod ban if calling it out.
AutoMod ban for calling it out on another subreddit
A mod didn't agree with your opinion? Good luck lol
Also counts for all political subreddits. They are all echo chambers, and the moment you step out of line your days on that sub are numbered.
Yup. Unless you are already famous they don't give a shit if you have some decent OC to offer. It's pretty frustrating.
I can't believe they removed the cylinder in an m&ms tube post. Archiving it is fine, but deleting it? Are mods retarded? It's practically one of reddit's wonders.
its always wither "your account needs to be 46 years old" or "you need 30 billion karma to post on this subreddit"
This happens to me way too often. Your post either gets no attention, too many downvotes, or admin abuse. Nothing more, nothing less. Fuck Reddit.
That's something I never deal with because I don't post!
