In 2022, Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact were in the Player's Voice final 5 so there was kind of a war between both communities.
Sonic fans were butt hurt because the game was snubbed in every other category so it was their only shot to win something and Genshin fans wanted the game to win because there was a rumor around that the game would give freebies to the players if it won the category.
There were also accusations of botting from both sides, so much so that even Geoff mentioned it when he was announcing the winner.
it's not as deep as "they bribe their community with pulls".
There's just precedent in the industry that if the game wins or is nominated for a big award, the players get rewarded. Sometime it happens (in this case it did with umamusume and wuthering waves), sometimes it doesn't. It's not like the companies themselves say "if we win, you'll get x".
E33 announced the new update months ago - shortly after launch in fact. It would release regardless of a GOTY win or not and is unrelated outside of choosing TGA as the place to announce the release (the place where the most people will see it).
My only gatcha expirience is Limbus and Uma. If this is A LOT then I fear what others are getting.
(To be fair I know that Limbus has a lot of free stuff. Like I struggle not to get everything that comes witha new update)
The story is still mediocre, good enough for gacha players. I like their designs actually, more than ZZZ from hoyo where all the designs are basically furries, children or huge tits + ass.
Mkay yeah apart from the protagonists then lol. Which brings up another problem I have with the game the community. I was in their subreddit and they love to incest ship them together 🤔
I don't engage with the sub reddit or the community in any shape or form (you shouldn't either for the better, most of them are hella weird). I just play the game and have fun. The closest thing I've come is just looking at some cutesy Belle fan art.
Oh yeah that's healthy. I mostly went there for guides & fan arts as well. Seeing a lame pedo or incest joke with like 2k upvotes will always mind boggling tho lol
People always claim ZZZ is the gooner game, but most adult women looking are boring as hell (unless for miyaby, she's cool) , there's too many child looking characters, and the men are 50/50, and the furies are cool i like them even if I'm not a furry and in contrary of what this guy claims there's not many furry designs
But i agree the story is mediocre, I'd even claim it's boring most of the time
Gameplay is good, but i dropped it after they baited players with a good gender ratio then dropped it. Male characters in gacha are a lost cause at this point
Game that's massively adored in China, Korea, Japan and SEA with millions of daily players wins popularity award. How unexpected, they must've paid for votes.
So you're telling me the game thats praised by its community for its quality and development improvement over the last year makes people actually like it? Fake. its actually ALL bribery.
I'm a massive wuwa fan but even i don't understand how wuwa won the award. Especially considering it went against pretty big names with massive communities. But again im well aware how dedicated the wuwa community can be to put it lightly, so i wouldn't be surprised if some people used alts to boost wuwa or botted it
Could just be a non-western playerbase. I always hear about those popular games like E33 and Dispatch on the internet, but never with any of the people I know irl. Meanwhile gacha games are incredibly popular in all of Asia and beyond.
WUWA had the advantage of being free and being loved in the gacha community especially China
KURO had the balls to listen to their players and Make improvements(example being when optimization was shit They fixed it after learning about it and gave us free stuff for compensation)
China and Korea love them
They made some collabs on multiple brands
am I glad that wuwa won? definitely. did the other games deserve to win as well? absolutely
what matters is your own opinion not others if you really enjoy the game you should enjoy the game but not attack others because they don't have the same interest as you
It shouldn't matter how well the devs listen it's still a worse game than expedition 33 and that's all that matters. E33 got snubbed for both the best sound design and players voice, this is why fully public votes shouldn't be a thing.
Sometimes the difference between the quality of games is just objective and it doesn't matter what your tastes are and expedition 33 is one of those.
Best community support was already won by larian studio the best kind of community engagement is making a good game, the only community engagement gacha games do is free pulls that too just 10$ worth of stuff, people ruined expedition 33's player voice for a measly 10$.
When a game has genuinely improved from player feedback, I think it generally makes sense that there would be more of a push for people to recognize that improvement due to the commitment to improve stuff constantly. But since it's a gacha everyone just jumps it let me ask you this, if a game launched as a complete mess, but the devs listened to player feedback and have used that to improve the game, don't you think the players would recognize that effort and commitment?
Plus with the logic of bribes, Genshin should have won due to their much larger player base due. This argument makes no sense given Wuthering Waves smaller player base compared to Genshin.
In the end do these awards really matter, enjoy what games you play, that's all that should matter to you, not other people's thoughts on the internet.
Uh-huh... Do you have any proof of this? Because last I checked WuWa just had a good year where the story actually picked up and the voice acting went from dogshit to pretty good.
It also has the advantage of being popular in Asia which is where most voters come from, redditors in this thread are just shocked because their echo chambers deceived them into thinking these types of games aren't popular
I wish, but if Limbus won anything or was even in game awards, the community is gonna be annoying asf about it and I can’t handle that when we already have a poor reputation thanks to the Roblox kids
Here's a possibility: it wasn't bottled or baited and people actually liked the improvements wuwa did to the game? Seems better than coping about it being rigged
no they voted because Genshin was on there. Wuwa players don't really care about beating any other games beside that lmao. Genshin has given rewards pretty much every year since its release and it has like 10x the playerbase.
Surprised it beat Genshin, but ig us Genshin fans know we aint getting anything even if we do win and just decided to vote somethin else (I for one am very annoyed Dispatch never won anything)
Im honestly so shocked that Wuwa won and im so happy. we are already accepting that either Silksong and Exp33 will won the award and i will be fine either way, im okay with Genshin winning too
What im trying to say here is, Dispatch doesnt deserve to win this shit, it barely counts as a game, these arrogant mfs are saying shit that they got robbed like even if Wuwa didnt win, its still competing with Silksong, Genshin and Exp33
Does it matter if you never heard of it..? It's all depending on the space in the internet you visit and communities you're apart of, just because you didn't know about it, it doesn't discredit the game.
All that shilling to get a 10 pull. The shoe shiner job never disappeared, they just became genshin/wuwa fans and boi do they do a good job at bootlicking.
They seriously need to stop putting Gacha games in Player's Voice. I have nothing against them personally but those players are motivated by free stuff to vote

i wasn’t there for the game awards, what were the other competitiors?
Genshin Impact, Dispatch, Clair Obscure, Wuthering Waves, Hollow Knight : Silksong
Why is Genshin here? That shit released years ago
I guess it counts as an ongoing game so It's eligible and allegedly they bribe their community with gacha pulls so It always go to the final 5
Genshin barely got any votes, we just locked in when the sonic drama happened the rest of the times noone cared
genshin also gives no rewards for players voice, only other awards that the community does not choose
Sonic drama?
In 2022, Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact were in the Player's Voice final 5 so there was kind of a war between both communities.
Sonic fans were butt hurt because the game was snubbed in every other category so it was their only shot to win something and Genshin fans wanted the game to win because there was a rumor around that the game would give freebies to the players if it won the category.
There were also accusations of botting from both sides, so much so that even Geoff mentioned it when he was announcing the winner.
Genshin won in the end.
nah it was more because Sonic fans riled up the CN community.
Sonic community complained because genshin was in the nominees so naturally the genshin community decided to lock in
it's not as deep as "they bribe their community with pulls".
There's just precedent in the industry that if the game wins or is nominated for a big award, the players get rewarded. Sometime it happens (in this case it did with umamusume and wuthering waves), sometimes it doesn't. It's not like the companies themselves say "if we win, you'll get x".
Its not even exclusive to Gatcha, apparently E33 is adding some free content to celibrate their win. A lot of games do something similar.
Its just that Gatcha fans are the only people obsessed enough to care about it beyond being a neat little bonus.
E33 announced the new update months ago - shortly after launch in fact. It would release regardless of a GOTY win or not and is unrelated outside of choosing TGA as the place to announce the release (the place where the most people will see it).
I play both Genshin and Wuwa, we indeed got pulls.
For nomination mainly, not for winning, at least in Genshin’s case
I don't follow thus heavily but isn't there a category for ongoing games?
Yeah, but games can be on multiple categories. Player's Voice is just the popularity contest and best ongoing is actually curated
According to someone else here there is, I didn't know that
They’re on-going live service games
Exactly why idc for TGA
The footage review durring judging for silksong just consisted of them listening to 80 different trobbio audio clips
Dispatch, E33, Silksong and some others iirc
Putting Nightreign in "some others"? You've got some ballson ya
https://preview.redd.it/v3yum0z7sr6g1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d329c75a1e4aaa5d1f2d7d9ea19676d8cc3a2e1
Calm down
I unironically did that because sunshine is my fav mario game
Average soulsborne fan when someone doesn’t mention their asset flip slop
Gacha voters think they get free pulls if they win even if it isn't stated by the devs.
it's an unwritten rule in gachas: Award => Free pulls
as a dokkan player, this also applies to hitting top grossing
I mean. Its usually the case lol. Uma and Wuwa are getting pulls because of the awards.
If they didnt there would be a riot for not being grateful to fans
It happened for uma.
umamusume devs give out ALOT of free stuff though, especially for japanese players, and outside of any special events too
My only gatcha expirience is Limbus and Uma. If this is A LOT then I fear what others are getting. (To be fair I know that Limbus has a lot of free stuff. Like I struggle not to get everything that comes witha new update)
Istg Limbug dev team intentionally make bugs to compensate for them later on
I'm curious, those handouts, are they newly added characters, story parts and the like, or just in-game currencies?
Usually the in game currency used to pull for characters. Think 10 free loot boxes, or sometime 1 guaranteed random rare item/character.
Oh. That's a bit sad.
It's like only a single guaranteed SSR card ticket and it's random
I got coal
https://preview.redd.it/zt6u0k5yks6g1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e6d9fd7bd32c7e005e43cab82fb2a978829c216
You could get nothing. Be gratefull
Not blaming cygames, I'm just blaming luck
I play a number of gacha games. It’s the standard practice to give out free pulls when the game wins an award.
Well, these are general rules for gachas. If players won't get awards they'd pissed
If they win they will make sure the devs give something. Don't play with ppl willing to kill a guy over 3d characters wearing a bunny suit
I remember when I tried WuWa when Rinascita released. dropped it because I didn't enjoy the story and certain character designs
The story is still mediocre, good enough for gacha players. I like their designs actually, more than ZZZ from hoyo where all the designs are basically furries, children or huge tits + ass.
It's disingenuous to sum all ZZZ character design to that. Hell the the main characters are really well designed and neither of them are those things.
Main sub is almost 100% NSFW
ZZZ is hoyo containment chamber to be fair, the community is well... yeah
do you have sour old men (bill from left 4 dead) in that game? no? then i don't give a shit. comeback when you have old man yaoi.
“good enough for gacha players” buddy most gacha players play other genres too
People always claim ZZZ is the gooner game, but most adult women looking are boring as hell (unless for miyaby, she's cool) , there's too many child looking characters, and the men are 50/50, and the furies are cool i like them even if I'm not a furry and in contrary of what this guy claims there's not many furry designs
But i agree the story is mediocre, I'd even claim it's boring most of the time
Gameplay is good, but i dropped it after they baited players with a good gender ratio then dropped it. Male characters in gacha are a lost cause at this point
Its literally just genshin lite lmao
Bah. They saw Genshin and locked in. Nothing motivates WuWa players like beating GI
And most of the genshin decided it was enough, sonic was beaten
Without sonic, awards has no punchline
Aren’t they like from the same developers? Or am I just stupid cus they kinda look the same
Nope KuroGames is Wuwa Hoyoverse is Genshin
Nope, Hoyo vs Kuro
Wuwa basically has the same art style as Genshin, I mean look at these rocks, it looks straight out of Liyue
https://preview.redd.it/lebouerqwr6g1.png?width=915&format=png&auto=webp&s=47c6afd44390d2bef2b7539d9b3822dd7790f8b0
you could legit tell me this is a liyue screenshot and id believe it that bush looks so similar
If they use same assets that would make it good for unreal vs unity benchmark lol
all gacha cash grabs are the same copy pasted shit
Ah yess
Let's just use a random picture of a rock to say that they are the same which you can't really reinvented
Instead of something more important like the land marks and locations
I like WuWa more cuz they made PGR and PGR had a DMC5 collab
it's honestly weird how everytime someone mentions PGR they get downvoted, it happened twice for me
kuro devs used to work at hoyo
No, but they are pretty much the same game with slight differences
Slop vs slop
Game that's massively adored in China, Korea, Japan and SEA with millions of daily players wins popularity award. How unexpected, they must've paid for votes.
These people are confined to their own online space lol
But twitter posts with 10k likes tell me that it's rigged
So you're telling me the game thats praised by its community for its quality and development improvement over the last year makes people actually like it? Fake. its actually ALL bribery.
WuWa players:
https://i.redd.it/npsfvoz4cr6g1.gif
Completely unrelated, but my God do I love how over-exaggerated the Yakuza games are.
There is an incentive to vote for the game, and gacha games inherently have a more active community than single player games do.
I couldn't be assed to vote, but I would have voted for E33 if I did even though I play WuWa
I'm going to be honest here
WUWA had the advantage of being free and being loved in the gacha community especially China
KURO had the balls to listen to their players and Make improvements(example being when optimization was shit They fixed it after learning about it and gave us free stuff for compensation)

real shit, it's player's voice. WuWa's fanbase just had a louder voice than the rest of the games.
yeah it's more on who likes this thing more than this thing
wait wernt they the same people who also made pgr?
yes One of my most favorite games of all time
Wtf does listening to the players even mean?
It shouldn't matter how well the devs listen it's still a worse game than expedition 33 and that's all that matters. E33 got snubbed for both the best sound design and players voice, this is why fully public votes shouldn't be a thing.
Sometimes the difference between the quality of games is just objective and it doesn't matter what your tastes are and expedition 33 is one of those.
It's an award with 100% player voting
It doesn't matter if expedition 33 is an objectively better game then wuwa
What's matter is the community engagement between the developer and the player
And WUWA have been doing an excellent job at that
With the constant engagement that the dev do, it allows them to grow the game community more and more
Which in turn makes them able to win an award like this
Best community support was already won by larian studio the best kind of community engagement is making a good game, the only community engagement gacha games do is free pulls that too just 10$ worth of stuff, people ruined expedition 33's player voice for a measly 10$.
At this point am not even sure this game exists and that it was just made up by the game awards
Completely unrelated but what the fuck is that flair
You don't get to judge NO ONE, Mr "Penis Flair"
https://i.redd.it/vfou3m96dr6g1.gif
understood, mr niko oneshot
Its one of the best bands to ever exist much better then posers like the beetles here's some of their work https://archive.org/details/TFR344-AbortedHitlerCock-ErectionsAtAnAnimalAutopsy
Sounds like it was made by Warhammer orks
Nah more like something made by a chaos cult dedicated to both nurgle and slaanesh
that's me with e33, I only hear people talk about it in regards to the game awards. But it looks awesome so I might pick it up
Same I don't even know what genre it is
Same here i only ever seen it on the front page of steam apparently is literally just a jrpg made in France
I think genshin and wuwa just have alot of player since it's an mobile game, so obviously have alot of voter
Me, a Nikke Enjoyer, thinking how I can make this about me.
https://i.redd.it/vk0u4s2tgs6g1.gif
Always more fun to watch the others fight it out
Verily

True.
"Game Awards should all be decided by viewer vote"
Same people saying the awards don't matter, are complaining about the results of the awards... 🥱
Goomba fallacy
These type of people cry about crunchyroll awards being rigged and then root for it every year anyways.
How in the fuck did they beat out Silksong
Wait that's a stupid question
They won via the power of 10 free spins of big booba women
and has the advantage on being in a mobile device
And on mobile it runs like shit
it really depends on which phone and their optimization
You can actually play Silksong on mobile through... Certain means
and the power of it being a good, enjoyable game.
Not nearly as much of a factor as big booba women though
i mean, both are good reasons to vote.
Skong also had awful chinese translation on release, so it adds up
At least our beloved horse game won best mobile game
Pour one out for Grass Wonder, Haru Urara and Gentildonna
Mad cause your favorite game did not win.
The players are voicing your what?
Uh-huh... Do you have any proof of this? Because last I checked WuWa just had a good year where the story actually picked up and the voice acting went from dogshit to pretty good.
It also has the advantage of being popular in Asia which is where most voters come from, redditors in this thread are just shocked because their echo chambers deceived them into thinking these types of games aren't popular
if any gacha deserves that award it’s limbus, wuthering waves was botted as fuck lmao
I wish, but if Limbus won anything or was even in game awards, the community is gonna be annoying asf about it and I can’t handle that when we already have a poor reputation thanks to the Roblox kids
I sadly think limbus is still too niche for anything like the game awards
Its not really that niche anymore but its definetly not uma or genshin levels
Exactly. The PM fandom was bad back then, and the forslopen kiddies and amoebas somehow managed to make it even worse
Limbus is too niche sadly compared to Kuro or Hoyo.
Ehh, I didn't really like the gameplay. I just spammed auto-win.
I'd rather vote Arknights.
Then wtf is this then?
https://preview.redd.it/vuk6u4x07s6g1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b4bb084b94f2a3fbd2540cf14fb1167e236020a
Story is peak af, and music is fire. Between two worlds is my favourite boss theme in gaming.
Pls don't, the fandom is already ruined when Roblox players joined, now imagine more people......
No gacha deserves awards
Nah, you're thinking of Heaven Burns Red
This category shows why players vote only matters 10 percent in other categories
I don’t even play the game, but I’m proud the sheer power of gambling beat out Silksong and E33z
Here's a possibility: it wasn't bottled or baited and people actually liked the improvements wuwa did to the game? Seems better than coping about it being rigged
"Boohoo game I don't like won"
It's called player's voice, its just that wuwa voice was louder than the rest.
China's voice
Dispatch fans be like (I'm one of 'em)
https://i.redd.it/3zkw2m3zfs6g1.gif
Im ngl im just glad genshin lost
Most of the votes didnt even have anything to do with the possibility of an award. It was just out of spite for Genshin
[deleted]
what no lol. if you actually log into the game. they actually rewarded players for the best mobile game nominee, not players' voice
That's how most people would try to I guess think most gacha games would win but in reality most Genshin players didn't really care for about it
[deleted]
no they voted because Genshin was on there. Wuwa players don't really care about beating any other games beside that lmao. Genshin has given rewards pretty much every year since its release and it has like 10x the playerbase.
Genshin doesn't give rewards for players voice btw, just like wuwa
Or maybe because it's popular in Asia which is where most of the voters for player's choice come from?
[ Removed by Reddit ]
r/expedition33 and r/Silksong should make a psa to tell people to not vote gacha games from now on
Surprised it beat Genshin, but ig us Genshin fans know we aint getting anything even if we do win and just decided to vote somethin else (I for one am very annoyed Dispatch never won anything)
ts why we get 20% of the votes
If you played it you'd understand
u/savevideo
Gooner gacha game #15475
I think the Player's Voice award is pretty damning evidence for why awards being nominated and selected by player voters is an awful idea.
Gacha games shouldn't be at the awards, end of story
I literally never heard of the game before
Does it matter if you never heard of it..? It's all depending on the space in the internet you visit and communities you're apart of, just because you didn't know about it, it doesn't discredit the game.
Never heard of you before, do you exist
It's more popular in Asia and that's where most voters live
I'd rather Wuwa win than E33 tbh
bribery :(
https://preview.redd.it/oco4ttyaxs6g1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd94ba34c98d3085b326004ee7b932f060b4dbe4
No, it's just because they're a popular game in the most populated area of the world
Tbh I completely forgot Wuthering Waves existed
Same applies for Mario Kart World. Sonic Crossworlds was robbed
All that shilling to get a 10 pull. The shoe shiner job never disappeared, they just became genshin/wuwa fans and boi do they do a good job at bootlicking.
How is avoiding buying in-game currency bootlicking
very bold of you to assume the stingy mihoyo would ever give genshin players anything for player's voice
They did give away rewards they won the 2022 player's voice though
They did though? iirc all the previous times genshin won they gave out some shit
when they win non-players voice awards yes
https://i.redd.it/axuitl8ykr6g1.gif
Gacha games (deservingly) get a bad rep but man it really muddies it for the ones that are actually, genuinely good which is just unfortunate
[deleted]
What?
Pizza tower IS real and it is actual peak gaming, yes it looks like shitpost but its also insanely tight and fun platformer in a vacuum.
money's voice
They seriously need to stop putting Gacha games in Player's Voice. I have nothing against them personally but those players are motivated by free stuff to vote
