I had laparoscopic surgery (stage 3) in 2023 right before I conceived my daughter (through IVF, after several tries). Three years later, I’m trying for a second and I’ve had 2 failed FET and I’m wondering if I should do another surgery. MRI shows my endo is not as bad as it used to be but evidence of some. Looking for advice and others experiences to decide what to do!

  • I'd push for another lap. I conceived my daughter in 2022 after laparoscopic surgery that removed endo. Trying for #2, my RE was unwilling to repeat it because it's "too invasive". Well, I finally got pregnant on my third FET, but I am having to TFMR due to chromosomal abnormalities, and I have a nagging suspicion that my endo is the root cause.

Im sorry to hear this! My RE also thinks it’s too invasive but after 2 failed FET I’m wondering really what my options are

The likelihood of complications is so low in comparison to the benefit of the results. Imo.

Also, after a CVS (long ass needle through my stomach into the placenta) and an induced stillbirth, these doctors don't get to talk to me about "invasive" anymore.

Chromosomal abnormalities don't really have anything to do with endo, but it certainly could explain FET #1 and #2.

Chromosomal abnormalities have to do with weakened proteins inside the egg or sperm from age generally. Even a 25 year old will have some abnormal eggs, but this proportion increases dramatically after 35. Were they PGT tested?

I am 32, so age wasn't a factor. Endo is known to impact egg quality, and because ours was a free trisomy, likely what happened was that my egg came with two copies already. This would make it by definition aneuploid.

No, they were not tested because it is illegal in my country.

  • Did you try lupron suppression?
