TTC nearly a year now, few months ago SA was done privately and results were not great. 12% moving, 1% morphology and 2.3million concentration. It will be around 70 days when we go for one second SA and since then hubby has stopped smoking cigarettes and the other.. stopped drinking maybe 1 beer or two in the whole time, and continued his usual healthy eating and gym routine. He has been taken x2 proxeed sachets a day as recommended.
I pray that this is enough to give us a boost and that we can put it to the next in December or January’s window and pray we conceive naturally, otherwise it’s the IVF route.
Does anyone have any positive stories? Not looking through rose tinted glasses and I’m expecting the worst the protect my heart but it would be great to hear some good stories.
We have just come back from our second SA test and had the results straight away. The numbers are basically double and some what they were before, and it’s only been around 60 days. My husband has stopped smoking cigarettes and MJ, vitamins including proxeed, cut drinking down to barely one a week, better died and gym as usual. They have advised us to keep trying as they still aren’t near the parameters they should be but to be up is a positive. They said to re test in 3 months again if we haven’t fallen pregnant by then. Thank you for your comment, it’s a wild ride and we aren’t out of the woods yet and still may need treatment but we will see how the next few months go for us, for now we are Just pleased numbers are up at least for now.
Currently in the same boat as you, with almost similair numbers. Our doctor has advised IVF/ICSI as the best way to go forward. We are waiting for a repeat of the SA at the end of January after which we will make the final decision. But with the already healthy lifestyle of my husband, we do not expect different numbers. He is taking a whole bunch of supplements however, so curious to see if that might have an impact.
It has been a rollercoaster since we got the first test results and has put my world a bit upside down. So sorry no positive story, but just want to say I see you and I hope it works out for the best!

Has your husband had a sperm dna fragmentation test? It is separate from a semen analysis and is associated with poor sperm results. Treatment is different when fragmentation is present vs not when dealing with sperm issues, so it is important to check. We had recurrent miscarriages from high sperm dna fragmentation and my husband also had 2% morphology. Once we addressed it, we were successful
Not yet! But I will definitely ask for this. Thank you. What are solutions / how do you address this? Sorry, very new to this.
You're welcome! The first step is to see a reproductive urologist to see if there is something underlying like a varicocele or an infection, which can be treated with surgery or antibiotics respectively. (However varicocele surgery takes long and doesn't always work). The other options are ICSI with zymot or ICSI with a TESA. We did ICSI with a TESA because testicular sperm has less fragmentation than ejaculated sperm and that was successful!
We just got results back, it is very likely because of varicocele. It is a weird relief, as it is something we could not have prevented with lifestyles (my husband already has a very healthy lifestyle, so there is not much we can change). We will proceed with icsi in the new year.
