A hard-ish plastic container/bag with a bit of soft cotton inside? It's sealed shut. Found in a drawer, no idea where it came from. Can't decipher the company (?) name – WHW? WAHW?? MHM?

Looks like a filling sample that usually comes with winter jackets.

    parent
    530 points YourFaajhaa

This. I had this attached in my winter jacket

I live in a cold state in the u.s. Not once have I seen this while buying a coat or jacket. Where do they do this?

    parent root
    311 points shiro_eugenie

I grew up in Northern Europe, most of “fancy“ winter clothes my parents got me when I was a kid had those. It’s been quite a while since I shopped for a fancy winter coat, so no idea if they are still doing that - maybe it was a 90s/00s thing.

    parent root
    231 points HauntedCemetery

I have to imagine companies these days realized they could save 63 cents a year by not doing it.

I also suspect they dont want customers to see whatever cheap shredded plastic junk they're stuffing with.

    parent root
    138 points scmkr

You are right. This is what it looks like now (this is from a VERY reputable down bedding/apparel company in the US)

I live in Europe also. This might be a European thing

    parent root
    50 points catsoaps

They have this in Canada too

    parent root
    32 points berysax

I’ve seen this in SoCal here and there. Maybe it’s more of a designer thing?

Name checks out. You must be a true professional! 😉

    parent root
    100 points KurohNeko

So it's there so the customer can see what the inside insulation looks like? Do I understand correctly?

    parent root
    43 points shiro_eugenie

That was my guess all along - let the customers see the cool stuff inside. Like if they use feathers, it would contain those, and you will believe 100% without a shade of a doubt that your new jacket is insulated with feathers.

    parent root
    12 points lostmindz

    insulation

That seems… wasteful. Just what the world needs, more useless plastic.

Some coats come with a clear packet to show the filling. Sort of like shoes sometimes have a foam piece to feel the material

    parent
    151 points ClutterKitty

Am I just buying really cheap crap? I’ve never seen either of those things you’re describing.

    parent root
    34 points txivotv

No... I've used top brands and models of technical clothes when I was younger and hiked. I've never seen this kind of item.

    parent root
    26 points Celestial-Dream

Skechers used to have the pieces of foam with some of their shoes, but I’ve never had a coat with one.

    parent root
    22 points generictimemachine

Insulated leather gloves would have a blank or sometimes logo embossed tag made of the same leather so you can see the rough side of the leather as well. To ensure it’s real, not junk “genuine leather” hidden by the stitched in liner.

I agree that’s it’s probably a sample from a jacket or sleeping bag. I found this outdoors company called Mile High Mountaineering. It looks like now they just do backpacks, but maybe they’d tried jackets earlier, with a different font in their logo. link

    parent
    263 points PlusRead

Oops, spoke too soon. Here’s a jacket with the exact same logo. Unclear if it’s the same company, but I doubt it. But this is probably the type of jacket it came off of link

    parent root
    61 points AbelardLuvsHeloise

You found the company! That’s a match for the lettering on the capsule

I got something like this with a jacket it's a sample of the filling

    parent
  • 15 points stellarseren

I have seen similar items that were samples of the same fabric as the original item (shirt, pants, etc) so you can test it in the wash before laundering the larger item. Not sure that's what this is but thought I'd mention anyway.

    parent
  • 10 points Helena_Wren

When I bought a down filled winter coat, I got a similar item to show what the down consistency was like. That’s probably also a sample of down filling from a coat, blanket, sleeping bag, etc.

    parent
  • 7 points valsalva_manoeuvre

This might’ve been included with a jacket, comforter, or some other warm insulating item. It displays the type of insulation that fills the item in question.

L those samples are like the weirdest part of winter shopping gotta love em tho

Couldn't find anything with Google lens (Google thought it was a wet wipe LOL) but could it be from a coat or duvet? Sometimes when you buy an item stuffed with cotton/down they have a little sample pouch of the filler. Might explain why it's completely sealed? The loop on the top would be attached to the zipper or hem with a tag. As for the brand name I have no idea

The logo is identical. It seems it was printed reverse on the OP's item.

Sample of the filling from a jacket or sleeping bag or similar product.

    parent
  • 4 points roxykelly

It’s a sample of the filling from a coat or jacket. I have a down jacket and one of these came with it.

    parent
  • 3 points Mental-Intention4661

I think comforters and pillows may also sometimes have this

    parent
  • 2 points NeitherMaybeBoth

That looks like it’d work well for a bloody nose if you don’t shove it up too far. Out of the package of course. lol.

    parent
  • 3 points Ralph430

I have seen those in several winter jackets or sleeping bags from different brands. It's a sample of the isolation fiber used to fill de jacket or sleeping bag
