It was never canceled, just badly delayed by the change in contractor and whatnot. Work has been going steady for a while now. They’re nearly done with work in Prince George’s County and are making progress with the Montgomery County portion. Projected to finish in 2027; I certainly am not taking that at face value, but I don’t think it’s crazy to expect it to finish at some point in the next few years, barring another catastrophic setback.
The MoCo portion is unfortunately not as far along. Back before the pandemic and the original contractor leaving the project causing three years of delays as they found a new one they had planned for the section from the College Park station to New Carrollton station to open early, but they decided to drop that with the new contractor and just wait to open it all at once.
Right, the Silver Spring Transit Center was a huge mess and they're doing the big Bethesda Station realignment this summer. Still, it would've been nice to get the line partially open, say, next summer.
I love their channel! As a PGC resident I am so excited for when this is finally done.
This was great
Yayyyyy!!!
Great YouTube channel
What’s the travel time from one end of the line to the other?
HELL YEAH! I live right around the corner, and have been hoping to see testing during the day. Can't wait to get on the thing.
They’re finally doing stuff at the Bethesda station for it too

I mean it sounds like they could literally open up the pg half the system in a few months.
It's like 85% complete currently, and they have trains doing test runs from New Carrollton to as far as the College Park Green Line station.
Wondering if they'll do testing on UMD campus in late December/January when the students are gone.
Yes, testing on campus is scheduled for then per the notices they've put out.
It was cool to see the tracks and station already done when I visited in the summer, but also frustrating that we're still 2 years away.
