We’re staying on the lower east side for 5 nights this spring. Not wanting to drive into Manhattan, so looking for long term parking options. Last trip we parked at Edison at Secaucus station and took the train to Penn Station. It cost shy of $112 for 3 nights to park. This time I think we want to take a uber from where we park directly to where we’re staying in Manhattan as carrying my luggage and every one else’s up all those stairs at the subway about killed me, lol.
I’m googling and seeing some options, but I’m curious for a solid lead that may save me some time. TIA.
p.s. bring less luggage. :)
And everyone carries their own. No incentive to pack less if someone else will carry for you.
From Pennsylvania, just drive to the Clinton Avenue train station Trenton and park in the huge parking garage and take Amtrak to NY Penn Station.
Where are you coming from? Newark Airport has lots of cheap long term parking options and you can uber from there
Pennsylvania way. I’ll check that out.
Why not take Amtrak?
You can also take the parking service's shuttle to the airport terminal, take the AirTrain, and then pick up the train into Penn Station from there.
MetroPark worth checking?
I took the train Amtrak to/ from Harrisburg and NY Penn a few times. Surprisingly smooth
Yeah, this is gonna be my choice. There should be elevators to get you from the parking garage down to the street level if I’m not mistaken. It’s a bit off the turnpike, but not too far.
Then just catch a NJ Transit train into the city.
We always park at Weehawken at the Port Imperial station and take the ferry in.
Take Amtrak and bring less luggage.
Driving to somewhere else and using an Uber to get into Manhattan vs. just driving into Manhattan and parking near where you're staying doesn't help with congestion at all.
The North Bergen Park & Ride is right by the Lincoln Tunnel and has frequent bus service to Port Authority. Parking is $10 per 24 hours, I believe.
Try the app SpotHero
Staten Island ferry outlets. It’s a covered parking garage. You can book online. Then you exit the garage into the outlets and you can see the skyline to nyc. Go down the steps and back up because the Staten Island ferry is right there. Short walk to the right. Cannot miss it. And it’s free! And boom one thing checked off your list 🗽 it leaves on the ½ hr.
I Use SpotHero, might be helpful! I’ve def found options for long term parking in manhattan
I use the SpotAngels app especially when I’m traveling to the airport and need to park my car somewhere without worrying about alternate parking - and then just uber from there lol
The lower east side is IN Manhattan
park at Ramsey route 17 station and take the train to Penn station then take a taxi They lineup outside the station. Don't take an uber you can get those anywhere.
That’s not a direct trip to Penn station. They’d have to change trains in Secaucus
Man unless you want to eat 2 alternate side tickets which will cost you 120$ you’re gonna have to park in Jersey or Staten Island. Park in the neighborhood around the Verrazano bridge in Staten Island. Or even along side the beach over there. It’s generally not near anyone’s house so you won’t be taking up a spot for 5 days. Uber to lower east side might cost you 50-100$ depending on time of day etc. Depending on time of day it will take 20 min or 2 hrs lmao
Why not just drive in and park in Manhattan? Use the SpotHero app to book a garage.
Literally. It costs the tolls to get into the city one time which is cheaper than the uber. Plus if you do it right you could technically park for free the whole time.
Street parking on LES isn’t even bad compared to midtown. Lots of free spots just might have to circle around to find one . Have to move for street cleaning but if not ,probably the tickets are still cheaper than an uber into the city from Jersey.
Park in White Plains in the city owned garages and take the metro north down (37 minutes on the express)
Depending on the day, you could park near Dumbo and Uber to the LES for a few bucks. Depends if you're willing to park on the streets
“Park near Dumbo” 😂 😂 😂
I've parked on bridge Street for 3 weeks straight and only got 2 tickets for alternate side
😂 for the $130 in tickets you could have parked in a garage
Not for 3 weeks
They used to be $35
They are $65. As someone who lives nearby, please be considerate enough to move your car. It takes an hour and a half out of your week. Some of us appreciate the street cleaning.
