Merry Christmas to these folks parked illegally on the striped area and refused to move when I explained to them that the person in the next car needed to use a wheelchair ramp. Hope your sandwich at Jersey Mike’s was delicious!
Remember, the striped area next to handicapped spaces are there for a reason and aren’t free parking!

To be fair, those stripes are barely visible, and handicapped spots should be blue, not white. But yes, they should have moved when you explained the issue.
And the sign has to be in front of the parking spot, not planted in the bushes next to the spot.
That sign is probably for the row behind it where the Subaru (shocker) is.
So what is this post complaining about?
The spot the jeep is parked in isn’t an actual parking spot, it’s a striped out spot(stripes are faded and barely visible). It’s space intended for the spot, the white vehicle is in, a car requiring a wheel chair ramp to slide out.
But if the Honda is allegedly parked in a handicap spot, then wouldn't the real compliant be that they are parked there without a handicap tag?
They aren't parked in a handicap spot. They're parked in a no parking area that pedestrians (especially handicap wheelchair users) need to get through.
No the Jeep is parked in the blocked off spot. Look closer, you can barely see the diagonal lines but they are there. I was confused at first also
100%— I had just almost parked there myself until I noticed so was trying to be helpful. Just so tired of people giving zero shits about wheelchair users when it’s mildly inconvenient for them.
Those same people probably do a lot of other shitty things. The lack of care for their fellow man probably permeates most of their day to day interactions.
I am sure the OP explained it nicely. NOT!
I’ve noticed that the handicap spots in that lot are horribly marked and in really weird spots
Sounds like the real issue is the owner of the lot not complying with federal regulations
My wife just abandoned an errand all together because the Market 32/TJ Maxx/Sierra/Homegoods parking lot in Burlington was such a shit show.
We had an appointment and planned to stop at Costco. Monday morning, almost 10 a.m. The parking lot was packed. A trucker was trying to get to the docks, and drivers were rushing past him, not caring about his struggle to back up enough to make the turn because the lane he'd first chosen was blocked by vehicles that didn't pull fully into spots.
We sat back and waited, ensuring we'd given him enough room. Costco's manager was there in a t-shirt, waving at people to stop, but so many drivers ignored him and kept going, adding to the mess. It was absurd that so few people had any patience yesterday.
But the holiday season brings out the very best in people, right??? lol…I worked in Barre years ago managing a grocery store, and from Thanksgiving to New Years, I saw the worst traits of people come out. Anger, Self-centeredness, and greed usually were the go to traits.
So many people seem to lose their minds and get a “me first and screw everyone else” mentality starting in December. It’s been almost 14 years since I’ve worked in that store and I still dread this whole time of year.
It’s because winter tells us to slow down and hibernate but “holidays” demands what isn’t naturally. Not that it excuses shitty behavior.
Agreed, nothing shows the cracks of a civilized society better than the “holidays” hahaha
That’s the point of the holidays! Jesus was born in the summer time. The holidays are only a capitalistic idea to improve profits by the end of the year.
I get it, the fist time enduring capitalism is rough. Tbh the trucker was probably expecting this. So don’t feel to bad.
I was gonna go to market32 myself and just kept driving after looking at the lot 😂
I was on the phone with her and she started sounding like Ralphie's dad in A Christmas Story when their furnace breaks.
All of shelburne road today. Disaster.
First time experiencing the week before Christmas? Yay capitalism in the winter!
Sounds exactly like Christmas!
I had to ask someone to move - she was sitting in her car texting - bc I literally couldn’t open the door to put my baby in her car seat. Like I could open it four inches max. If it had just been me I maybe would have climbed in the other side but since she was there I asked her. The look of absolute disgust she gave me ……. And she was over the line obviously.
Can we add more pregnancy/ baby parking spots in VT? I've never been more aware of parking space since getting pregnant and then attempting to wrangle a baby into a car seat.
Seriously. Honestly I think handicap spots should also be usable by pregnant women or anyone with infants. Or make more dedicated spots. It's a real need!
Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to incompetence. Most people are in their own bubble not even thinking about how they parked .
But I fully explained it to them, nicely… and they just walked away.
That's when you pull your phone out and call the cops. If no one is ever punished, behavior will never change.
I think the fine should be $1,000 , and the person who reports it should get half.
Dude can’t legally park in a handicapped spot without a tag or plate. He’d be towed first.

That's bullshit. Everyone knows not to park there. The signs are very clear. If they can't observe signs, they shouldn't be driving. Don't make excuses for them. They know damn well what they're doing.
At some level, ignorance causes just as much harm as malice, if not moreso.
I am thoroughly convinced that 30-35% of Vermont drivers can’t figure out how rectangles work. Because I see someone fuck up basic parking protocols on a daily basis. And not in a “their rear tire is going across the line” way, but in a “this dumbass thought the line was where the car should be centered” way.
What’s a rectangle?
It is an absolute shit show in Williston right now. I had to go to CVS to get some Tylenol for my sick kiddo, and people were driving and parking like maniacs. I’m happy for my town to get the business, but damn it sucks for everyone who didn’t wait until the last minute to go Christmas shopping.
What did you expect? A lot of folks are getting a week off for the first time in a long time right now. Of course they're going to go shopping.
It is not the number of people that is the issue. The problem is the people who miss their turn or otherwise mess up and, instead of inconveniencing themselves, choose to block traffic and tie up cars both directions.
I choose to believe that those things are inextricably linked, and don't hold people as accountable as some are okay with. Sometimes society has to navigate nearly impossible and stressful situations. I've learned to accept this and deal.
First year in capitalism? This week happens every year.
You mean consumerism?
It's a Jeep owner what do you expect
I expect barbie
Wait is this by the LL Bean?? This lot sucks. The spaces are so small. The lanes so narrow. The lines are barely visible. Booo this lot.
The llbean side of the lot is particularly bad. This photo is on the jersey mikes/crumbl side.
Call a tow truck 🤷
If there’s a work around somebody has to let me know
But in the past I’ve tried this for my mom who’s disabled and needs these access points clear
The tow drivers from my experience have told me they won’t tow unless the business themselves calls and requests the tow because it’s their property
Which obviously it’s an easy fix of going inside and requesting them to do so
Just a heads up don’t waste time calling the tow truck yourself just head inside the business and let security know so they can call
Can also call the cops because blocking or parking in handicap is illegal.
Theoretically yes but good luck with that
Everywhere is an absolute nightmare today. People parking on the side of the road at Costco, traffic backed up on every main road, and everyone living in their own little world today. Be kind and be careful out there, everyone!
Jimmy John’s or Crumbl?
I parked in the pedestrian walk thru lane in the uvm hospital parking garage the other day. Can't see it at all with the salt. Only realized it from walking thru a different row that had signs planted in 5 gallon buckets. That made me feel like a piece of shit on an already bad day.
“Rules don’t apply to me”
I agree, making the handicap hop a curb and park on an island seems offensive and illegal.
Shucks, their side mirror just fell off!
Go back to New York then, you don’t have a handicap plate or tag.
That’s not my car, friend.
So which one is yours?
So you weren’t even parked next to them, and you asked ‘nicely’ and then ran to Reddit to doxx and tattle? I don’t believe you.
I mean look at how they parked. Clearly the driver of the jeep micro machine is also handicapped.
Really had to make a handicapped joke in a thread encouraging people to not be dicks to disabled people. 🙄
Went to Price Chopper/ Market 32 today in Rutland, what a gaggle f*@k. Took your life into own hands driving though the parking lot.
It’s the week before Christmas, are you surprised or is this your first year it capitalism?
Someone's ripping some Jersey Mike's
Thats nothing.
Others do have to park around those that were there when they pulled in. Keep this in mind next time you have to park in a parking lot. Esp this time of year.
Although parking diagonally between two spaces is an asshole move.
