• Liam Neeson stresses he is “never been and is not” an anti-vaxxer after his role in a new documentary raises questions over his views. The actor narrates Plague of Corruption: 80 Years of Pharmaceutical Corruption Exposed, a film reported by journalists Walker Bragman and Olivia Riggio in the Important Context newsletter.

“The project is adapted from a book by Dr. Judy Mikovits, a researcher whose claims have been repeatedly debunked, and attorney Kent Heckenlively, who was previously denied entry to Australia over what authorities called dangerous views”.

Oh fuck Liam Neesen. What a dick. How many kids are going to die because this asshole is an anti-vaxxer and people believe the crap he’s selling?

It’s pathetic that this country is here today because twenty years ago some unemployed medical quacks needed to go on the grift because they were unemployable and people are gullible enough to believe their quackery that vaccines are dangerous.

Well not getting vaccines can be fatal.

You don’t believe in the views you narrated? Well don’t narrate them then.

So... are we to believe all the pedophiles on Law and Order SVU aren't actually pedophiles?! /s

He got paid to narrate something he doesn't agree with, fuck him right?

Playing a character on a fictional show, isn’t the same as participating in a supposed documentary based on absolute bullshit lies. If you can’t see the difference, we can’t help you…

I mean ... Yes? Abandoning your principles and supporting something vile simply because you got paid is bad.

Unironically, yes. That fact anyone says otherwise why we're in the mess we're in. FFS.

    Honestly fuck him.

That's cool. I doubt he's desperate and hurting for money, so he likely could have skipped that one.

  • This does remind me of the time Kate Mulgrew claimed she was misled into participating in a "documentary" about geocentrism.

I think a lot of people were tricked by that one, no?

True. I think she caught the most flack because it was edited to make Captain Janeway look like a flat Earther.

Like Jeffrey Epstein's good buddy Lawrence Krauss!

  • So he just needed the money?

    And is probably also anti-vax

It's weird. His wife died refusing to wear a helmet while skiing even though it was required for safety... feels similar in a way.

Did she refuse? I know that in the 90s and early 2000s there weren’t really people wearing a lot of helmets skiing. I used to snowboard a lot at that time, and I remember being one of the only people wearing a helmet on the hill, and that even was a 50/50 shot. Same with bikes

When she died it was big news in the area (Tremblant slopes in Québec), and one of the most well known details was not wanting to wear a helmet even though people told her it was required.

Ah - I remember it happening, just not that detail. I skied there around the time of the accident, pis honnêtement je me souviens pas que le casque était obligatoire. J’ai skié pas mal toutes les pistes à Tremblant, so it wasn’t something I was aware of.

Yeah she died around the time when helmets were new on the slopes

Or was deceived about the nature of the doc. Maybe his narration is about overall corruption in big pharma and then they cut to interviews with snake oil salesman and what not?

  • My kid'll also deny he's stealing cookies with one hand in the cookie jar. The difference is my kid is dumb because he's a kid and Neeson is dumb because.... He didn't think we'd notice?

  • Damn that’s disappointing

  • This was shared in another subreddit and people were sharing a few big name actors who have been tricked into doing work like this, etc. So, it may have happened here as well.

  • I think it’s actually somehow more fucked up if he’s doing this and he doesn’t even believe in it. Just shows a complete lack of principles.

  • I know that the pharmaceutical INDUSTRY is in need of strong regulation…but I gotta laugh when the alternatives think the wellness INDUSTRY is much better. The prices for their products are equally exorbitant, especially if you have to take them daily and for a long term. For both, the bottom line as profit is their driving factor. Also, too many products have not been properly studied so that might be a concern. If all these old world treatments are worth turning one’s back on modern medicine can someone please explain to me why the mortality rate was through the roof until the advent of vaccines? It is just insane that in so many areas of life, crazy politicians and crazy citizens want to send us back to the dark ages of medicine.

  • An actor promoting dubious “health” advice? Must be a day that ends in y

  • So much of the success of a documentary comes from the narration. When someone puts their voice, and the star power of their name, into a documentary, they are telling the viewers that the film is trustworthy. People will be more likely to think less critically when the messages are being delivered by someone famous like he is. So, at a minimum, he is morally liable for the damages that the film brings.

  • Nobody should be surprised by Liam Neeson not believing in a film he’s in. Dude couldn’t dodge a paycheck to save his life.

Just check out Ice Road Trucker on Netflix.

  • He can suck my dick.

But I only wrote that because I was paid to.

And I thought I was getting paid to write a poem.

    Honest!

  • He can't be broke enough to have needed to do that.

  • Doesn’t matter if you were in a mudslinging fight or if you stood around to watch. You still got mud on you.

  • Why is it so hard to believe that an actor might not believe 100% in something that they say for a perfromance? I've heard him say "I will find you and I will kill you" but I don't belive he has any skills in tracking people down.

A small kickback is in order - we don't want respected actors taking roles on controversial films. Gettign an apology out of him and a denial that he believes that stuff is great. What exactly do we have to gain by cancelling him?

Neeson has promoted vaccines in the past and praised them several times. While yes, his involvement in this film in unfortunate, I don't actuall believe that he is anti-vax from his past comments. Vaccine supporters should echo his past comments that vaccines are "a remarkable human success story" and "one of humanity’s major achievements" rather than shunning him and letting anti-vaxxers think that he is on "their side".

Anti-vax people are pretty vocal about being anti-vax. They don't promote vaccines one year then deny them the next. If anything they say they "just aren't sure" or "are worried".
