Another option for some might be the museum in Sandon, BC which has a bunch of the old busses from what I believe are the right era, they might like some to show beside the old busses.
I went there years ago and the lady that was giving us a tour sang a hymn while playing an old wooden compression organ. It was very surreal she sang for my dad, cousin and I. I wish I could remember what hymn but all I remember is that it was an old spiritual but not amazing grace.
Its a neat museum in essentially a ghost town from the silver rush in the kooteneys
Nice. Hard to tell the size of these with no reference point in the OP's photo. Looks kinda like dime and loonie sized?
EDIT found this completed eBay auction that shows them beside a ruler and what the lot of 5 sold for. They're a lot smaller than I thought. The B token is 7/8 inches which is the size of a nickel, making the A token about the size of a fish scale. Way easier to lose than your compass card.
Whoa!!! I'M DROOLING... Do you know how much those are worth??? Those have quite a bit of collector value. I'd be more than happy to put some money into your Compass card in exchange for those!
It’s the reverser key for a tram! Essentially it’s the gear shifter equivalent for either a streetcar or interurban. Insert and push forward to go forwards, pull back to go back, and leave in neutral to not go anywhere.
reverser key! Just had one in my hand the previous weekend @ Heritage Railway Society in Cloverdale! Real question is what it's doing in your hand! lol
Why use them you know how rare those could be go to a appraiser and show him those. If it turns out to be worth a lot thank me later if not just keep em in a safe

Those must be worth more to a collector than they are worth towards fares!!
Contact the transit museum society they might want them.
Never knew about this!

Locals all hate the busses. There was no busses in sandon. They were all against getting them brought there.
There are literally only 4 locals
I was going to say "both of them?"
Yes
Didn’t know we had physical bitcoins
That's one expensive bus ride
me looting factory 3f safe for the first time:
Or labs…
Labs loot is so fat now
They are only 750k now :(
Eft in the wild! The rats are among us
Never knew these existed. I'm curious what the difference between the A and B fares was.
Bus tokens! During the BC electric and BC hydro era!
“A” was for students, 10 for $1.00
“B” was for adults, 4 for 75 cents
They were introduced in the 60’s, abolished in the 70s

A token looks about the size of TTC tokens, which they still used when I lived there in 2011. I lost many of those in the course of 6 months.
Currently away on vacation. I will send a photo with a banana for scale when I return 🫡
You use one if you’re going to point A and you use the other when you’re going to point B
Chances are the driver wasn't born yet when those were valid for fares.

EDIT: Ah, I see...it's a satire...you got me!
Stay tuned for more transit dilemmas 😔

+2 points if you know what the attached image is for 😗
I would think it's a ticket puncher but that's just a complete guess!
I see why you think that, this particular “reverser key” has a spring loaded cover bit which makes it a bit like a clip, or ticket puncher.
Shown in the photo is a “reverser key”, used on the old Interurbans and streetcars, it allows you to operate the tram either forwards or backwards
Check out this video!

I will admit I don't what that is but I'd love to see more transit artifacts and learn about them.
It’s a reverser key for a tram!
checkout this video to see it in action (roughly 20 sec mark)
Stay tuned for more transit artifacts 😉
Looks like a wrench, but not. Some sort of lever. Is that called a power handle?
Yes but no

How else do I tell the youngins how to drive a tram?
I also have a not so matching brake lever to match it 😋

Only if you have a time-travelling Delorean.
Original bitcoins?
Are you paying your bus fare in AA chips?
You can use those on those on the #1225 Interurban line out to Steveston.
These tokens were introduced after the tram system was abolished 😉
Is this the Bitcoin all the kids keep talking about
Guys, will transit police ticket me if I show them these as proof of payment ? My ticket expired 31 years ago ☹️
Ticket you? Probably not, but they will look at you funny. It's likely not worth the effort unless you're looking for attention?
Its so worth the effort, it would be funny
If you have bitcoins predating the digital era, they must be worth millions by now.
what are these? i haven’t seen them ever in being alive for 24 years on this pallet and im perplexed- pents? probably not- we only accept CAD
short answer: No
Why use them you know how rare those could be go to a appraiser and show him those. If it turns out to be worth a lot thank me later if not just keep em in a safe
Should Contact Transit DAMN things should be in their Museum 🎨🤔😉
Those are so cool!
why I keep seeing the same posts
They belong in a museum!
Who’s downvoting an Indiana Jones reference?
Thank you for getting it
Don’t take any wooden nickels!
It'd be like showing up to a bus with a green or red slip from the 90's.
Take it to the guys on Pawn Stars and let Rick lowball the fuck outta you for them
Those are Bitcoins don't waste them on the bus!
Donate if they are “high value” but no buyer. You would get a tax receipt.
I’m a retired bus driver, I would accept them for sure
I’d pay you a bus fare for them
I’ve got a couple of those laying around. They’re probably older than the driver who didn’t know what to do with them.
Give them to me
OP, if you’re interested in selling these, PM me
Can't use Bitcoin on Transit 😁🤣
It’s not Bitcoin 🤔
