hi guys, i got accepted into arbus co op for fall 2026 and am wondering if it would be better to do a live virtual tour of campus or in person campus tour. they say on the website that in the virtual tour one, they show you things you wouldn’t see in the in person one. whats the big differences between them and which would you recommend? waterloo is my top choice.
you don't even need a campus tour ngl but personally i would just do the virtual one
oh ok thanks! any reason why or is it just unnecessary?
it's not that necessary. it's a relatively small campus and you can naturally quickly figure out where everything is within like 2 weeks. none of the buildings are very special either so i personally wouldn't go out of my way from toronto to do it. but if you live close by then by all means, i just think it's too much of a hassle for what it is
i’m near oshawa. would you recommend just moving in relatively early during the move in period so i can explore campus before classes start on own and just do the virtual tour then?
hmmm i can't remember how it works for uw since it's been so long, but since you're in first year you'll probably be living on campus (which is highly recommended). i THINK that you actually have a set move-in date and time so that it doesn't get too busy at a certain time, so you'll want to be early when it comes to choosing that time slot. I would recommend the former where you explore campus, find your classrooms, etc. and it gives you more time to hang out with people in your dorm floor.
Honestly, a campus tour isn't really needed. Im currently a 1B student and I still havn't explored like 30% of the buildings. You'll naturally figure out what buildings you need to go to and how to navigate them. Just know that class rooms start with the floor number (so if your class is HH204 or something that means its Hagey Hall 2nd floor somewhere, or like RCH 109 is first floor of RCH). You'll learn the names pretty quickly. (I also didn't do a campus tour and relied on google maps on my first day)
