I just setup nzbDAV and have newshosting as my provider. I also have NZBgeek as my indexer. What I noticed is that lots of files, especially the larger movie files keep failing. Some of them work but I feel like most don’t. Am I supposed to add more providers/indexers to solve this? I did notice that I’ve had pretty good success with shows with smaller file sizes though I’m not sure if that’s just a coincidence.

  • Try a different indexer as well.

  • I noticed that happening too after setting up NZBDav. I realized later that I had set all of my providers to “pool connections”, which I think meant that, if one failed in a pool, the download would be treated as broken. I switched all of my providers except Newshosting to be “backup” and that fixed this issue.

By the way, there’s a deal where you get TweakNews and EasyNews free with Newshosting + Newshosting gives you 100 connections for $36. I got it by going through the “cancel subscription” flow on Newshosting.

For pooled connection, it will first try the provider that has the most free connections, with fallback to the other pooled providers, with subsequent fallback to the backup providers.

An article has to be missing from all pooled/backup providers to be marked as failed.

Ah, interesting. So is there any guidance/rule of thumb for setting your providers up? I figured I should put the most reliable as pooled and everything else as backup, but it sounds like that’s the wrong strategy.

    I got this one for 26 bucks/15months, I think.

  • If the files are failing by a few mb's grab all the recovery.par if the release has them, these will repair any broken files you have. you will need additionally software QuickPar/MultiPar to repair these if your client is unable to repair them itself, Set your client to download all .pars and set it to download only and not extract then use the above application mentioned it may help

  • Files unter 50gb is ok , larger fail to extract.

  • Definitely get you there. I have Geek, UsenetCrawler, and Althub as Indexers and Newshosting, Easynews, Tweaknews and Frugal as Providers.

Sometimes I wished it was somewhat more reliable, but I work with what I got 😅

  • Depends on the show age quality ect. I would add another indexer and maybe a provider from a different back bone if you want to get really wild lol

Do you have a recommendation for a provider to work with newshosting?

Another provider might help but sounds more like takedowns. Therefore more indexers (different releases of what you are looking for) is likely to yield better results.
