They are moving in a few weeks to live with someone in another state but they left their apartment already and still have to work before they get transferred in a few weeks. They’ve been staying at Walmarts and the one they were comfortable at everyone got kicked out tonight. I’ve offered them to come stay with me for a few weeks but I’m kind of far from their job they said they don’t want to theyre ok in the car for now. I just feel bad and I would like to help if I can. Any tips welcome, thank you. They have pretty much everything they need idk what else I can do.
Don't "get comfortable" in any one spot. If you stay in one place long enough, people always start noticing you. That's not to say you have to find a new spot every night, but a few on rotation would help.
Yah that’s good idea I’m going to help them plan a couple backup spots so they don’t have to worry if they get booted next time. They found a spot for tonight though. There’s other people sleeping there too.
Are there any Cracker Barrel’s around they usually let ppl park without a problem
No Cracker Barrel around there. It’s like 45min away but that’s good to know. They went to a different Walmart close by last night I think they gonna stay there.
Thank you for being a kind soul. Just offer support in little/any way you can that won’t make them feel like they are a leech or drain. Maybe allow them to do laundry (saving a couple dollars here and there really helps) or offer them a hot meal/access to your stove microwave or something while you’re home.
I personally have been invited from multiple people, but I hate feeling like a leech. I would pay/rent my own studio apartment or even a broom closet if it was affordable for one person but it isn’t for someone with just a HS diploma.
If theyre near or on an interstate, have them look at truck stops and rest areas (depending on the state) as possible sleeping locations.
