Yeah the top comments were attempting to justify it by saying the cooks were just high or something. Unless it was on hard drugs there's 0 way you wouldn't notice you were putting nacho toppings directly on a plate.
I've seen a dude on h washing dishes with his eyes literally closed lol nobody is sloppin meat and cheese on a plate without chips then putting it up in the window in front of the chef then sending it out to a server without anyone saying anything about it haha
As a former server who watched the entire back of house and good majority of front get high af, you’d be more likely to never receiving the nachos than the nacho chips being left out of nachos. I’ve seen the kitchen run far more fluidly on cloud 9 than they do when they’re sober lol
Idk being pregnant the kitchen definitely gave me alot of “dead dishes” lol. Imagine my husband’s surprise when he had about 20 men from BoH saying to take care of “their baby” 😂
LOL. i remember during covid people would order online and just never pick up their food so every night i would bring home like 6 bags of burgers and fries to my family
Honestly the weird thing is, this is a good idea. Order all the nacho fixins separate from the chips so they don't get all soggy when you save them for later, or even before you're done sometimes.
I always order nachos with my chips on the side because I don't like soggy chips. I would bet that there's a basket of chips to the side that they filled that small bowl of chips from. And I will die on the hill that that is the best way to serve nachos. You don't get soggy chips and it's more hygienic (if nobody double dips like a lunatic)
U. Servers have EYES they would notice if the primary ingredient was missing in an order they took. That's a dip, not nachos, I'd believe it if they said they forgot to bring the chip bowl.
U - that dish had to have passed no less than three pairs of human eyes to be served at that table: one or two (or more) cooks in the kitchen, an expediter/expo (if there was one scheduled) and THEN into the server's hands. This wouldn't include any management, shift leads, owners, etc etc And none of them caught that?! Nobody asked or commented on how weird the order sounded, let alone looked? I'm cashing bullshit. Someone would have said something.
PLUS, there's gotta be at least an 80% chance (and this is a totally made up statistic) that the table would have noticed or said something to whoever brought them these "nachos.". I'm sure they didn't just sit there while the server walked away, so that they could post it on Reddit...
U. As someone who works in a restaurant this would absolutely get noticed. There's stuff that absolutely gets overlooked cause people can be dumb but "All the chips on this primarily chip thing" is absolutely not one of those things. Besides that looks more like nacho dip
I feel like at that point if I’m the chef I would heat up the chips and scrape the stuff off the plate and on top of the chips..? Also like idk I could see this being some sort of inventive menu item but like. Why would you just be sprinkling cheese on a plate and heating it up
U - the chips are literally the main part of the dish, but the idea of having them off to the side and dipping them into the toppings is genius lol no need to lie, just hype up a good idea! Tho the cheese would need to be sufficiently melty
On new submissions, reply with a top-level comment that begins with:

A 12 hour voting period will begin with each new submission. During that window, you can label the content with one of those three options.
The app will recognize your vote as long as it's the first letter in your top-level comment. You can follow the letter with a period or comma, and it can be upper-case or lower-case, but it has to be the first letter, and a top level comment, and it cannot be as part of a word. (So this paragraph, for example, would not be recognized, because although it starts with 'T', the 'T' is a part of the word "The"; but if it was just "T." or "T, I agree" it would be valid.)

OOP knew this was just a normal chip dip, where you get chips on the side, and decided to fake a dumbass story on Reddit for heckin valid updoots.
OOP is a nimrod who thought chip dip was the same thing as nachos, and when he tried to "correct" the order to the server, they informed him that no, this is just a dip. OOP's hubris is now bruised, so he uploads this shit to Reddit for some heckin validation.
U i have a nearby mexican place that offers all nachos both regular and “sofia style”, which just means chips on the side there. idk if it’s a common thing and just assumed that sofia is a family member of the owner who prefers nachos like that. but i think nachos with chips on the side is better anyway
U - Yeah right, the chef sends it out, apologizes, and offers to remake it after it’s at the table. Then you have to order chips. And of course OP tries to make himself out as the good guy because he doesn’t want to waste food. Gtfoh
I recognize the table and ingredients and believe this was at a Yard House. No chance this made it past the expo AND server or food runners. It was 100% ordered as chips on the side.
U. I order my nachos with the chips on the side because it takes me a long time to eat and I dont like soggy chips. This is almost always how they look, including the little bowl of chips in the background
I think it's more likely that the OP ordered something like a nacho dip, or the chips on the side or something like that over the restaurant forgetting them, but at the same time, I had a restaurant forget the chocolate in my hot chocolate a couple weeks ago. (They remembered the hot though)

U I was about to post this. I’d bet anything it’s something like “Nacho Dip” on the menu
Yeah the top comments were attempting to justify it by saying the cooks were just high or something. Unless it was on hard drugs there's 0 way you wouldn't notice you were putting nacho toppings directly on a plate.
As a chef/drug user even on hard drugs this isn’t happening
I've seen a dude on h washing dishes with his eyes literally closed lol nobody is sloppin meat and cheese on a plate without chips then putting it up in the window in front of the chef then sending it out to a server without anyone saying anything about it haha

“nachos? i thought those were for us.” is the response you would get realistically, either that or someone hooks the dishwasher up.
Same lol. To Go at Outback was wild lmao
and like the server is definitely not on drugs and would have noticed
So many of those posts are attempting to blame whatever restaurant for their own mistake in asking for the wrong thing.
Honestly the weird thing is, this is a good idea. Order all the nacho fixins separate from the chips so they don't get all soggy when you save them for later, or even before you're done sometimes.
Man, nacho dip sounds like a great idea.

And I will die on the hill that that is the best way to serve nachos. You don't get soggy chips and it's more hygienic (if nobody double dips like a lunatic)
Look behind the fixings. There’s a bowl of chips right there.
Right. I'm saying they ordered the chips on the side like I usually do.
U. Servers have EYES they would notice if the primary ingredient was missing in an order they took. That's a dip, not nachos, I'd believe it if they said they forgot to bring the chip bowl.
U
People lie about the dumbest shit
U this is like driving to work but forgetting your car somehow
U - This is how I would expect an appetizer to be served so that it is more shareable. I don't see any meat, just bean and cheese so likely a dip?
Every chip being crunchy does sound nice tho.
I came back here just to say I prefer this to his they usually serve it because soggy nachos suck.
Agreed, this is actually a better way to serve nachos

TLDR: there just ain't no freakin way!!!
Not to mention this is very clearly a chip dip, not meant to have chips already in it.
U
Beat me to it.
U - Literally a bowl of chips TOUCHING the same plate as the dip
It took me too long to find this comment. The chips are RIGHT FUCKING THERE!!!
U. As someone who works in a restaurant this would absolutely get noticed. There's stuff that absolutely gets overlooked cause people can be dumb but "All the chips on this primarily chip thing" is absolutely not one of those things. Besides that looks more like nacho dip
U I actually saw comments on the og post that also believed he ordered it like this
U

Goddamn do I want nachos now though!
U I seen this before in restaurants. It comes this way and chips can come with it on a separate plate) or just the dip
U - the chips are literally the main part of the dish, but the idea of having them off to the side and dipping them into the toppings is genius lol no need to lie, just hype up a good idea! Tho the cheese would need to be sufficiently melty
