1.What I loved about Brooklyn Nine-Nine is that you didn’t need to Google every joke to get it — unlike Family Guy, where half the time you’re just sitting there thinking, Okay… who’s this senator again? Especially when you’re not from the U.S., it’s nice to laugh without needing a cultural translator. 2. Jake Peralta wasn’t exactly a great friend to Charles Boyle. Let’s be honest — half the time, Jake treated Boyle like an overexcited puppy instead of a human being. He ignored his feelings, made fun of him constantly, and only appreciated him when Boyle saved his butt again.

  • Not what this sub is for, and you are completely off about Jake being a bad friend to Boyle, I’m not going to go into it but if you actually pay attention to the series you see Charles willingly chose and created their dynamic as much as Jake did and they both love and support each other very much.

I don’t really agree. When Boyle was in the hospital after being shot, Jake was still joking about him. If they were real people and not TV characters, I don’t think he would be a very good friend.

Like I said, not gonna go into it, but if you actually watch the series you wouldn’t have such a surface level opinion which relies on either comedic timing or arcs specifically about their friendship getting tested/becoming stronger
