Not sure if anyone can give me any advice but I really think I'm going to be rejected by this clinic. I have uploaded my evidence which includes my SCR, a NHS hospital trust letter which states a coded diagnosis and prescribed medication, I have a letter from the nurse at my doctors confirming my mental health history and that I have tried at least 2 other alternatives.

I have had my MDT and they are asking for a full medical summary, I have emailed them back saying I am in the process of getting a SAR but the doctors surgery confirmed mental health details will be ommited, it looks like they haven't accepted my NHS hospital diagnosis letter because it is not through my GP records? I am awaiting a reply from the clinic and I'm so disappointed for far as my 2 appointments I had confirmed I am eligible and everything was fine.

Anyone else using for mental health issues and had problems?

  • All clinics have vastly different acceptance criteria. If refused just try another.

Thanks for your reply, in their email it says they need to follow NICE regulations so I assume all clinics would have to adhere to this too? If my GP won't include mental health history in my records, how can I prove anything? I know I will have to just wait for the SAR and see if there's anything relevant in it. My mental health diagnosis and issues are historic as I've been self medicating with mircro dosing since.

That doesn’t make much sense given the Nice prescribing guidelines are incredibly restrictive for CBPM’s hence why the majority of us are prescribed via private clinics?

We all have to go through a MDT process yes. I know plenty of people declined by one and accepted at another.

Ironically the clinic you applied to accepted a private diagnosis letter from me although pain related.

They all have different criteria. If refused try another. Hopefully you are worrying unnecessarily.

  • Don’t let this deter you. I was flat out rejected by Jorja Emerson clinic for my mental health despite tried 2 medications and having therapy provided by the nhs. I went with integro and it was honestly the smoothest process. I felt heard and seen and a week later I was medicated.

Thanks for your reply. Im praying that there is hope for me, this is with Alternaleaf at the moment so I will definitely look into your recommendation if I'm rejected.

  • Does your condition carry a risk of psychosis? Or have you had a history of psychosis? That's what gets them twitchy. (The cannabis/psychosis link is, in fact, complicated - but that's by-the-by).

I live with bipolar disorder, which carries such a risk. I have been psychotic - 22 years ago - but this wasn't on my SCR. All the same - when I applied to Curaleaf, they asked me for a 'Letter of no concern' from my psychiatrist. My psych was down with this in principle - 'Well you're doing it anyway, so it makes sense to do it legally' - but in the end was unable to provide a letter for private healthcare.

So I went to Alternaleaf - who were less twitchy. That said - my application was almost certainly helped by the fact that my GP practice sent me a clinical letter along with my SCR - I didn't ask for it - headed 'Bipolar Affective Disorder - in remission.'

Takeaways: The issue is mainly psychosis risk - but having a 'serious and enduring mental health condition' such as, in my case, bipolar disorder was not itself a no go. afaik. Less serious conditions are not normally an issue - many of us are prescribed for mental ill health. I was accepted by one clinic after I'd tried another. You should be prepared to have a conversation with your psychiatrist, if you have one and are comfortable with that. If you're already using anyway - some professionals will regard a prescription as harm reduction.

    Good luck. Hope this helps.

  • When my clinic asked for a sar I just went onto the my gp app and downloaded each but off it you can try that while your sar comes in also put wach file into pdf for you to send
