I plan of going no matter what, but I'm really hoping that people don't sing. I heard about the Taylor Swift concert and it sounds like a nightmare.

Edit: Just wanted to add - there's movie theater etiquette and concert etiquette. At the end of the day, it's a movie.

  • I went to the SAI livestream experience theatrical release and I couldn’t tell if anyone was singing or not. At the most, people were just singing quietly to themselves.

The Taylor Swift eras tour theatrical release was blown out of proportion. Yes, the screaming as if it was a real in person concert did happen at some screening but definitely not all of them. At the few screening I went to, people were singing but not overly loud. Sometimes, people got up for a split second to do little things like the dance in Bejeweled that became a TikTok dance but they didn’t stay standing and dancing.

Can confirm that the Eras Tour movie wasn't an absolute mess. We had a lot of children when I went to see the Eras Tour movie and no one screamed. The worst thing was, people trying to debate whether people could sing and dance or not. most of us were saying that it's fine as long as the theater allows it and you're not screaming and making a mess. I've seen way more theater workers complain about the people who went to see the minecraft movie. 😂

  • I went to see that Metallica 3D theatrically released movie, Through The Never, and the woman next to me snored the whole time. I eventually married her anyway.

  • I went to the Hamilton theatrical release and the Taylor swift eras movie. Can confirm people sang but honestly it wasn't rly that annoying for the most part, it feels nice to be with people who have your same interests. People sing at concerts, it's just what you do. If you wanna hear the music in its purest state, listen to the studio versions

A concert is totally fine of course. I've never been to their concert before, so I want to hear Tyler, not some rando sitting behind me.

At all the concerts I've been to I've heard the rando next to me as well as Tyler.

Honeslty there were a couple of really annoying people at Hamilton who kept yelling at the screen and stuff but we asked them to stop and they did. Other than that it was all positive, fun, and didn't detract from the experience

The difference between a concert and the theater is volume. The theater will absolutely not be playing it so loud that it doesn't get drowned out by people singing loudly near by. I totally understand how people may be into that, which is why I'm hoping they market sing-along and non sing-along viewings. That way everyone can have the best experience.

This doesn't sound like the right experience for you.

Hi, your post has been removed. Please consider how your words affect others. Discussion is always welcome, but judgmental or divisive language is not. Posts that come across as rage-bait, inflammatory, or unnecessarily negative typically do not add to meaningful discussion and only invite negativity within the community. Thank you for understanding.

Thiiiisss feels like it’s not the right experience for you, I agree with NorthStar. Sorry but public settings just don’t seem like the best for you. You’re either going to have to wait until there’s nobody in the theater and hope no one buys tickets when it’s wrapping up its theater run or you’re going to have to hope they release it to streaming or sum.

Woahhhhhhhhhh. No need to be rude home slice. We’re having a civil conversation here, let’s keep it respectful 👍

    That was respectful lol

You just told me to STFU and called me insufferable and self centered. Just say “hey I don’t agree with that and I think it’s kinda rude to do that in the theatre.” please? 🫠

Cause it is and in the cinema you should not be talking no way singing

When I said I was treating it like a concert I more so meant the community and trading bracelets and talking to other people with band shirts on whilst outside the theatre. I’m not screaming at the screen or anything, and most of the people singing along like me are doing it pretty quietly or they’re doing the crowd participation parts, like when Tyler tells us to go “yeah yeah yeah!” For we don’t believe what’s on tv

Not what you preciously said at all

“Singing along at acceptable levels (not screaming over Tyler obviously) and being quiet during the talking segments.“ is that not exactly what I just said? Anyways this is stupid so I’m just gonna wave you a kindly goodbye and hope you’re nicer to people you disagree with. Peace

There's a difference between concert etiquette and theater etiquette. I feel like people forget that. At the end of the day, it's a movie.

It is a movie but don’t forget, it’s a concert movie. And most of the time singing along is encouraged. I treat these kinds of movies like I’m going to a concert and the last time I went, people had the same attitude as I did. Singing along at acceptable levels (not screaming over Tyler obviously) and being quiet during the talking segments. At the end of the day, I’m a marvel fan so loud theatres don’t bother me. In fact they’re what I crave because I love that bond with other people.

Hi, your comment has been removed. Please keep replies civil and avoid comments meant to provoke or insult. Thanks!

Imma be honest with you it’s probably best to just wait until the end of its theater run because you’re gonna run into people singing along. Just wait till the end and go when there’s like no one else in the theater

went to livestream experience in theatres, i heard a few people singing quietly along, definitely not enough to be bothersome (as in you can block it out and just focus on the music)

I hate to report that oftentimes at concerts you can barely hear Tyler sing

  • When I went to the Eras tour movie, I went to two showings at two different theaters. The first showing was opening night. People did dance and sing along. We also traded bracelets before the show, and it was fun. No one was obnoxious or screaming at the top of their lungs. It just felt like I got to do some of the things I would have if I had been able to go to the actual concert. The theater has recliners and was set up so no one blocked each others view if they stood.

The second showing I went to at a different theater was polar opposite. It was almost eerily quiet.

It is normally a big pet peeve of mine when people make noise in movie theaters, but since then, I kind of go into concert movies expecting some singing or dancing just because a movie ticket is cheaper than a concert ticket.

  • The Eras Tour movie I went to was so much fun. No one was screaming, but people dressed up, sang, and danced. I would honestly hope for the same experience for this concert movie.

  • Probably depends where you live. I'm from Ireland and no one sang at my Taylor Swift screenings lol

  • I saw the SAI theatre show and saw the Ghost Rite Here Rite Now show and both of those nobody was singing.

  • It was all quiet in my theater for the SAI Livestream Experience showing years ago. I'm sure most showings for this new concert movie will be relatively quiet as well.

I don’t think so. This album had a lot bigger audience than SAI did and the tour has already happened, so this will be a lot of fan’s only experience. I feel that this will be an audience participation concert movie

  • no one sang during the eras tour movie at my theater, but the singing during the hamilton theatrical release did irritate me (even though it was promoted by the cast), because it was so distracting and I wanted to hear the performers. I would definitely err towards times that the theater is less packed, like in the morning or afternoon, if those times are available

  • I went to the sai live experience, was on vacation in myrtle beach. There was maybe 25 people tops. Some sang along, most were pretty quiet.

This will be loud though, especially if you see it in the imax theater with the big speakers!!!

You most likely won't even hear anyone else tbh

  • Everyone was singing at the Eras Tour and showgirl screening I went to and I could still hear the music from the movie as well as people/ myself. I would have loved if people stood up and sing/ danced as well. You guys hate fun lol.

well if the don’t want to stand to watch the movie thats understandable

  • I really hope not but knowing this fanbase they will probably be screaming the songs in the theater louder than people were screaming "chicken jockey" for the Minecraft movie

or not ¯(ツ)/¯ we’ll see (it also depends on the ppl there so it’ll most likely vary a lot)

  • At SAI they were! And people dressed up too!

Oh you don’t like singing? Hahah well it is a communal experience but the singing wasn’t like overwhelmingly loud. To me it felt like being at a concert where people respectfully singing along

  • I saw the livestream experience in a theater and, mercifully, nobody sang that I could hear.

  • Totally depends on the artist and the crowd. Some stay quiet and just vibe, others treat it like a real concert and sing every word.

  • I can't help but sing, but ultimately never obnoxiously, so hopefully people won't be like that

No, you can. It’s not physically impossible for you not to sing. You can choose not to

Yeah I feel like the point of going to this specific movie would be to hear the artist and listen intentionally, not to sing along. the theatre isn't your car.

  • When I saw the SAI one nobody sang but there was like almost NOBODYYY in the theater because I was upstate when it had come out but yet they also wasn't many people there I do know that when Taylor swift one came out and when Hamilton went to theaters and stuff people were going crazy's I plan to be quiet unless theater website says it's okay or I see the whole theater park take then maybe I'll join in and very quietly

  • Uh yeah. Sounds like a big deal over nothing. Movie theater sound is pretty darn loud. But sounds like you'd pay attention more to those in your surroundings than to the film on screen... Not sure about that but I go to many music films, odesa, David Gilmour... Never ever a f'in problem. Ever. So not sure what OP is even thinking here...

  • I went to see imagine dragons’ theatrical concert release and I sang quietly but the movie was so loud yoh couldnt really hear anything over it. I looked around a few times and saw other people singing but didn’t hear them at all. It’s really not a big thing you have to worry about, the movie’s loud enough you won’t hear anyone else.

  • I didn't even think about that. I'll be pissed if people in the theatre can't shut up during the movie....😒. Honestly might not go until we hear if people do or not.

If you're a singer during a movie kind and reading this. Please don't. It's rude. We didn't pay to hear you too. It's not a concert. It's a movie.

This is my exact thought. Movie theater etiquette still applies, even if its a concert film.

It may not, lots of concert films have a little clip before the actual film begins, encouraging the crowd to sing along.

    Can you give an example?

It’s just Hamilton. They took an infamous example that LMM had to apologize for and they’re trying to make it seem like the norm.

    I figured as much.

Nope! Taylor swift and Beyoncé both have encouraged audiences to sing and dance along (respectfully), and AMC theaters added clips to most concert films I’ve attending with them citing the same. Concert films are typically more “concert” experience than traditional movie experience. I think with something like SAI it was less so bc it was also a behind the scenes and not straight concert.

I don’t know why you’re making shit up but ok lmao

I’m not, but you do you! Ask your local theater what their policies will be seems the easiest course of action. I plan to sing and dance. TØP Concerts have always been a blast for me and I can’t wait to revisit the breach tour!

Twenty one pilots concerts are a blast. Too bad this movie isn’t a concert.

  • K-Pop ones people do.

  • I feel it's a movie, sung quietly, but others want to enjoy it as well and not listen to others screaming over the movie.

  • I went to the Tears for Fears The Tipping Point movie. It was mostly quiet

  • Everyone dressed up for the SAI experience but nobody was singing loudly. A few people quietly singing along to themselves

  • I saw Eras twice, and Renaissance twice, and there was basically no singing. A few lines here and there. I’d be fine either way but opening night Eras is not the norm for the setting. If you’re singing every lyric, you’re absolutely going to bother people.

  • Idk, but I went to a NORMAL MOVIE a while ago and the girl next to me was singing along to EVERY song and talking about them too!

I wasn't too happy about that
