Hi y'all, I'm 18MTF and I've been training on and off for about 3 weeks and just trying to get at least a decent foundation going before I get too hung up on the exact qualities. I feel like I was overdoing resonance before somehow, but I think I'm more in the right direction now? I'd like hear everyone's thoughts here about my progress so far. This is my current trained voice, sorry for the bad enunciation, still getting used to everything. This is my untrained voice reading the same passage.
I understand the problem with pronunciation, maybe try speaking more slowly and with more awareness? Don't rush through the text, although I very much understand why you would want to, because being aware of your voice can be quite dysphoria inducing. But this way you can feel way better what you are doing. It is quite like any other physical skill you want to learn. i.E. knitting, when learning to knit, at first you are really clumsy and need to think exactly about what you need to do. You can't just jump in and try knitting like your elders who probably have knitted all their lives and can do it while talking and gossiping or watching a tv show.
And you sound really breathy, try relaxing more and reduce that breathiness (I had the same issues last week ^^)
But other than that you voice sound spectacular and really feminine. That's really impressive for only 3 weeks.
Perfect, I was trying to train a bit quietly (others in the house), so I had rushed a bit and was more breathy. I find that the breathiness is better at full speaking volume, so I guess I just need to find some opportunities where I can practice at a more normal volume.
are the others supportive? Because then you could give them a heads up... Or maybe ask a supportive friend or a queer/trans group in your region
Yeah I'll just have to tell my family what I'm doing lol, they're supportive. Just not trying to cause too much noise in this small ass house!
