If you live around the Elizabeth area and are looking to start HRT, I highly recommend Dr.Manjula at Elizabeth Medical & Dental Centre.

She offers 100% bulk-billing and telehealth consults.

She is an amazing person and has been such a great help in my transition journey! Unfortunately, if she doesn't get enough visitors by the end of this year she'll have to close her clinic... So please come visit her or spread the word!

  • The bulk-billing thing is new? Because she used to offer only private consults with out of pocket fees (even for those with concession cards) and I stopped seeing her for that reason.

She also tended to under-dose people for a long time, maybe she has changed that practise if patients have pushed back. She is a lovely person, but delaying appropriate dosages was annoying and yes she will prescribe typical doses (including progesterone which she always says bad things about) if patients ask, but often they don't know or are afraid to ask.

Yeah the bulk-billing stuff is new, today was my first appointment with that. Mainly because it was out of her control and she doesn't get to decide on that.

In my case I've actually been overdosing so different experiences for different people I guess.

This has been my experience with her too.

I've only known her to charge hundreds. How long has she been bulk billing HRT appointments?

Presumable the practice has signed up to the new Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program which I believe requires all gps in a clinic to participate together

Yeah I think that is exactly what happened - the whole clinic had to bulk bill to comply.

  • Oh no! Manjula is really lovely, can vouch for her. I didn't know things were that dire.

She initiates and manages HRT, does any kind of referral, lets you control what you want out of transitioning (completely chill with non-binary options), does telehealth and bulk-billing, and is taking new patients. We need a squillion of her.

ETA: She also prescribes E injections and T implants, as well - I know those can be rare to get.

Yeah I had an appointment with her today and she asked me to write a google review to help her out. She also mentioned other LGBT+ clinics around are shutting down, so if she closes down she won't know who to send me to :(

    Clinics are not shutting down?

Oh no, what's happening in South Australia? It it some stupid State govt thing ๐Ÿค”

Nothing is happening. Last month she was telling people that Medicare doesnt cover gender affirming care which is completely untrue

She's great with non-binary options! No stigma, just straight into discussing my goals and how we can achieve them.

  • I love Manjula! she helped me get on T 1.5yrs ago and sheโ€™s been non stop great since then!

  • Can you do telehealth only or does she need an appointment in person first? The GP I had that started my T prescription retired after the second appointment back in early December, and being down the opposite end of Adelaide with transport difficulties I've had a hard time finding a replacement ๐Ÿ™ƒ
