Hi, I'm quite upset about this. Received an automated hate warning at 1.34am this morning. It was apparently related to 'content' posted about the Torygraph article on Bridget Phillipson not following through on banning trans+ people on this sub. I have never engaged in hate and have been constantly supportive here. Can anyone shed any light? I am not saying anyone has done anything wrong. It seems a mistake made by bots. Deeply hurt about this and felt like deleting my account. Been supporting the trans+ community since 1997. A bit of reassurance would really help. Thank you.

  • Most likely mass-reporting by terfs. I get those quite a lot, I appeal them and the appeals always are accepted.

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better. Had a dreadful day yesterday and this was the cherry on top!

Sorry you had a terrible day, I hope today is better. Also thank you for posting this and thanks for the replies everyone- I’m now forewarned if I get one of these

Thanks. Glad this helped you too. Had some guy in the grocery store hating on me on top of all the usual crap.

I got banned from a subreddit for saying Charlie Kirk's quotes were racist with fascist undertones.

The internet is not a very friendly place right now. Don't take it personally, agree that it was probably mass reports from pathetic TERFs.

To bring up Charlie k is highly and suitable.

  • A transphobe lurking probably did it.

We need to stop terfs invading trans spaces 😭

Should be a law against it as they always abide by the law

  • If it helps the terfs are going crazy at the moment... They are all posting furiously and they can see this turning against them... Talk TV.. GB News... etc.. So it would figure they will also take it out on users here.. They're not smoking cigars on boats anymore !!!

I love it when a plan doesn't come together!

They'll be having nightmares next and all they consist of is people saying "no" to them

Deeply unhappy people often go berserk around Christmas. The contrast between happy people with more fulfilling lives and their lives full of bitterness, resentment, unhappiness (whatever it is), enrages them more than usual. They are not self-aware enough to recognise their issues, they just feel extra drive to take it all out on the object of their hatred. For TERFs that's us, for racists that's black people in adverts, for homophobes it's gay people on TV, for miserable old people it's "the youth of today".

Bailey, Joyce, Linehan, Jowling, Floorshitter, that poodle-looking older lady on GBNews... one of them is going to give themself an aneurysm.

I hope you are referring to Michelle Dewberry when you say that poodle looking older woman on GB News.  She is the one who campaigned for Virgin Active to ban trans women.   Totally obnoxious woman.

I checked, because I don't watch it enough to know their names.

Her name is Carole Malone. Just growling, vicious, on the attack, and looks likes she's right about to shit herself with anger any time I see her. Poodles are said to be quite aggressive despite how overly groomed they are...

Thats nearly all the main suspects. You missed Julia Hartless Brewer, the vile Alex Phillips, and Nazi KJK (K J Keen) who have been online and totally fuming !!!

We’re living rent free in very tiny minds!!

Ignore so called turfs, I don’t get any problems with anybody really well not much since 1996 , best to ignore turn the other cheek and carry on. That is what I have always done .

  • Thanks for the replies. Really helped. Have a great day everyone!

  • I keep getting temporarily banned from reddit for saying we should punch nazis so.... yeah...

    I stand by it.

Only someone who thinks they're a nazi would be offended by such a statement.

But yeah, it's probably some spiteful bigots with nothing better to do getting their pwecious ickle fweelings hurt.

remember, these people have no lives beyond their hate, they spend all day hate scrolling and being assholes. It's a sad little life for sure.

I got a 2 day ban for “harassment and bullying” because I said I like Wolfenstein 3D’s approach to fascists lmao

The amount of losers sobbing about how Indiana Jones should be engaging in the marketplace of ideas with fascists has been equal parts hilarious and deeply disturbing.

Nah, melt their faces with the power of God. That's the best way to handle a debate with a Nazi.

That explains it, you've upset the fascists.

I got a week for describing how much I want to give Curtis Yarvin a wedgie

I’ve never heard of this guy before, but having skimmed his Wikipedia page, I also want to give him a wedgie

I would never recommend engaging with anything he's ever written, but reading just one sentence is enough for me, it's not even about the material harm his ideas have (somehow) managed to influence in the world I'm just filled with the absolute conviction that this man must be bullied so intensely it gets [ removed by Reddit ]

i got one for “advocating violence” in a thread all about how wheelchair users can still engage in self-defence if they’re ever attacked

now, i didn’t specify “if someone attacks you”, i just said “you can always do X”… but that’s because it was 3 replies deep and the context was obvious!

i said as much in the appeal but it was still upheld 🙄

Violence is never necessary and gives us a bad name, I have been postop since 1990 at the age of 21 started at 17, middle 80s began oestrogen at 18 , never ever felt the need for violence.

So you think the nazis would have just stopped if everyone asked nicely? No, sorry, sometimes violence actually IS necessary. It sucks, but that's the way it is. When asking nicely and appealing to humanity fails, there ends up being only one option left. It's a last resort, but it's never unnecessary and to claim otherwise just shows a complete ignorance of world history.

  • You are supportive and that makes you a target, so think of it like this,

You are doing something right to piss people off, and we thank you for that.

As far as the idiots who see you as a problem,

Have a good Christmas and leave people alone, we are not affecting you in any way shape or form.

Hope you have a great Christmas, too and thank you. Hopefully, we can recharge during the holidays, and next year will be much better.

Thankyou too and a wonderful Christmas to all

  • Reddit's AI is drunk and needs to go home. It will take action against users without reports being made.

As a moderator of r/LGBT and r/trans I see a lot of really stupid decisions made by the AI, it's really frustrating as Reddit have taken away a lot of moderator control in this respect and we get a huge amount of pushback from modsupport when we try to raise issues with the broken AI punishing users for talking about their own identities.

I've used my position on Reddit moderator council to raise this issue with admins, VP level staff and u/Spez himself. As a technical advisor to the anti-defamation league, u/spez ought to be taking this seriously, but the reality is the AI is an outsourced product, and I don't think Reddit have full control over it.

Appeal, and keep on appealing. If you poke through Reddit's help website there's a way to raise a ticket via email if appealing directly through Reddit isn't working.

If all else fails, write to Spez and explain exactly how the AI is out of control.

Tell me about it. We seem to get so many "reputation filter" alerts just because someone is talking about LGBTQ+ issues on our sub.

I'm not sure that's quite how the reputation filter works, we're told it's from users that are breaking rules in other communities, so one of the possibilities is it's triggering on users who have had content removed on other subs for redditing whilst LGBTQIA+

I have heard from Tyler Otto (one of the VPs can't remember his exact title, but he's a data scientist at heart) on the reputation filter, but got the now standard "many signals and we can't tell you" answer, but it's reasonable to assume that if a built-in Reddit filter needs to go to the queue then its not specific enough and has too many false positives.

I was furious when the abuse and harassment filter rolled out as both on by default and remove by default as so many moderator teams didn't get to see how flawed it was, and in my experience it catches more responses to A&H that reqire moderator intervention further up the thread than it does initial incidents.

If you're a moderator, then look at admin-tattler on developers.reddit.com for insight into Reddit's silent aeo removals, it works best sending its output to discord. But it's more work and often a stream of hate and my teams are all so tired.

Thank you. This is really helpful. Will raise and try to get some pushback on this.

    Wtf is 4tran?

Started out from 4chans /lgbt/ board, very toxic group of trans people that are incredibly transphobic towards anyone who's happy in their transition, they're obsessed with Blanchard and phrenology. I want them to get better, its a very very sad community.

Well why the hell is one of our mods one of them? That can’t be safe for this community.

a lot of ppl are “ex /tttt/” and would seemingly like to be better… but still retain a lot of the vocab

(like “hondose”, which is itself a fractal of intra-community slurrage)

So did the mods here remove the comment because it mentioned the name of the 4tran subreddit, or because it revealed that subreddit shares a mod with this one? Because I’m finding this all very disturbing.

oh, i have no idea. when i came along the comment was already gone.

i’m just not surprised, given even IRL events often have one or two people using the lingo

Oh that was what was being referenced, yes. And apparently we share a moderator with them. Which I find deeply concerning for our safety.

...says a 4-day-old account. It's like you people aren't even trying any more.

    smh

I think being cautious around anyone who actively ties themselves to 4chan is actually a very wise decision. A lot of people, a lot of us, have been deeply hurt by 4channers. And I say this as someone who spent a lot of time there when I was younger (granted, 90% of it was on /d/, which tended to be a better board than average).
