Actually, it might lead to resilience by development of a big inflated ego after little Bonar hits the gym and discovers creatine all by his lonesome.
He will then go on to become a successful Gay porn actor (straight media doesn't make enough $$). Unfortunately for hot Mr. Cummings, actors in the industry must go by a stage name so he chooses "John Smith"
to be safe, please don't make your kid's first name "Bonar"...
"The Right Honorable Bonar Law" could get away with it because he was prime Minister of the UK in the 1920s but I can't imagine what his childhood was like. And Bonar was actually his middle name...
Yeah, and boner meaning an erection didn't exist until the 1950s. He may have had some jokes since boner was slang for blunder at the time, but that was also from baseball, which wasn't as popular in the UK.
Is Bonar an ethnic or cultural name from somewhere? If it isn’t, this feels like ragebait for sure. You can’t just replace an e with an a and call it good.
Edit: Thank you for all of the comments! From my understanding this name mainly originates from Indonesia. It has also spread around some with a British Prime Minister having it as a surname at one point.
There was a Scotch Presbyterian hymnalist named Horatius Bonar. As in, "I wanted to stand up with the rest of the congregation and sing 'I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say' but I had such a Horatius Bonar that I couldn't"
It's a real name, but a surname. There was a UK prime minister called Bonar Law, but it was his second name, his given name was Andrew.
I remember the post OP is referring to - the individual has made a few posts about wanting to name a child after this or that former prime minister. Seems to be a special interest.
To be fair to Bonar, he's not the only PM to go by his middle name that's also a surname. Neville Chamberlain was actually Arthur Neville Chamberlain, Neville is a surname that means new town. James Gordon Brown too, Gordon is a Scottish surname. And James Ramsey McDonald, Ramsey was his mother's maiden name.
I am dead serious, I knew a guy named Dick Bonar.
Used to come into the office and demand in a loud voice that I page the owner. "Tell him Dick Bonar is here"
The first time it happened I made the mistake of starting the page "Mr. Richard Bo-" and the dude cut me off "it's Dick, tell him Dick Bonar is here."
I hope wherever he is, he's still correcting people if they try to use "Richard" instead.
Bonar is a perfectly normal and common male Indonesian Batak name btw. I can't find an English source, but if you know Indonesian it's basically the Batak ver. of 'benar' and you can find numerous Batak figures with that name. But I do agree that if an Indonesian Batak family with a son named Bonar immigrate to English-speaking countries they may want to consider changing the son's name
you should have to have a liscense to have kids or any pet. people in this society are shockingly incapable of caring ofr anyone else or even themselves. Ive met people with 3 kids who tell me 'i dont garden cuz i killed a cactus'.
Are we sure this isn't a name from a non English speaking region? I mean, yes, in the US they would still be teased, but it may not be a true Tragedeigh.
I actually had a peer in high school called Bonar, not sure if it was his last or first name but everyone called him that. He was quiet, but from what I saw people didn’t actually bully him which in retrospect is wild
Thank you for your submission!

Narrator: It was, in fact, a stupid question.
Too stupid for r/nostupidquestions
But seriously though, doesn’t it defeat the whole purpose of that subreddit…which is to welcome any sort of questions, stupid or not?
There are levels of stupid:
What is the outside bit of an egg called? [Vs] What part of the day is the day, is before or after the dark bit?
I don’t know why but that second question legit had me laughing out loud
Hah thanks, I just came up with that on the spot :D
But which is it? Is it before or after? I thought I knew, but now I’m not so sure!
Duh it's the part that's not night. Or night-ish
It reminds me of the dumb rambling bits that Dankpods does any time they're testing out the microphone on a device.
there's an xkcd for that
Heh nice.
Yeah i was joking that the question was too stupid, even for that sub where they expect stupidity l
There's a limit.
The limit does exist
There is an ambiguity in the title when I overthink it:
Does it mean Absolutely No Stupid Questions, or No Question Is Too Stupid.
Is it safe to say it’s the first one?
Anything is safe enough, I just tend to overthink things.
That’s what r/StupidQuestions is for…
I feel like that was trolling which I could see disallowing intentional troll questions
Yes a name like Bonar Cummings guarantees poverty, no job opportunities and bullying that defies limits.
My first thought was I wonder if his last name is Cummings.
Bonar Getzov
Bonar Allcock
Bonar Cockburn
Any others?
Bonar Butkus, Bonar Fuchs, Bonar Dickson
Bonar Dickinson if you’re into incest
Even Bonar Smith is terrible. Unless you get one of those jobs making penises for $150,000.00 (and testicles are extra.)
Where do you apply? I'm pretty sure I could do that. I'll even change my name.
I’ll let Dr Oz explain it all to you. It’s a good gig if you can get it
https://www.reddit.com/r/WeirdGOP/s/7Dq1baKuVH
Ah... Dr OZ. I feel like if there was that kind of money in it the Right wing grifters would be all over that.
How about plain old Bonar Bonar?
Actually, it might lead to resilience by development of a big inflated ego after little Bonar hits the gym and discovers creatine all by his lonesome.

There's one job opportunity
I can see a bright future as a shock jock radio DJ, or a strip club emcee… or literally any job in the porn industry
Why not Bernard. Close to what they want.
Life is hard enough. Don't give bullies any ammunition
"Hey look! Bonar's got a boner!"
It's going to be so awful for that little boy.
Morning, bonar
Extra credit: last name must be Woods
LMAO
Only if he's little.
to be safe, please don't make your kid's first name "Bonar"...

To clarify, he was PM in the 1920s not the 2020s
ahh good catch! edited
Yeah, and boner meaning an erection didn't exist until the 1950s. He may have had some jokes since boner was slang for blunder at the time, but that was also from baseball, which wasn't as popular in the UK.
Looks like there are stupid questions after all.

“There are no stupid questions”
The humble stupid question:
Is Bonar an ethnic or cultural name from somewhere? If it isn’t, this feels like ragebait for sure. You can’t just replace an e with an a and call it good.
Edit: Thank you for all of the comments! From my understanding this name mainly originates from Indonesia. It has also spread around some with a British Prime Minister having it as a surname at one point.
It’s an old posh English name but no one actually uses it anymore. Our university had a Bonar Hall though because of it, and that was bad enough.
There was a Scotch Presbyterian hymnalist named Horatius Bonar. As in, "I wanted to stand up with the rest of the congregation and sing 'I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say' but I had such a Horatius Bonar that I couldn't"
The Brits once elected a Bonar Law as their prime minister
The only bonar law I know is don't try to pee with one
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonar_(name))

Makes sense. I have a coworker with the surname dikshit. I try to be mature about it, but man, at an English-speaking company, that's unfortunate.
Plenty of people named Bonar in Indonesia, especially from the Batak tribe. Also name of a famous fictional character Naga Bonar
Yes, at least I had a kid with this name in school with me, I think from Eritrea but I'm not sure.
Thank you. Is it pronounced how it spells? In an English speaking country, it is definitely a hard name to grow up with.
Pun intended?
Perfectly normal name in Indonesia, you can find a lot of people named Bonar here
Yes it's a name from Batak ethnic group of Indonesia. Many Indonesian Batak have that name
100 years ago he'd have been a fine upstanding young man. Today there's porn so he's just upstanding.
I am dead serious, I knew a guy named Dick Bonar. Used to come into the office and demand in a loud voice that I page the owner. "Tell him Dick Bonar is here"

I know someone with this last name and his first name is Hugo. I just realised what it sounds like together but it’s honestly never been an issue 😆
"Hey guys! Let's beat the Bonar!"
Joshua Bonar
Bjorxuwar Bonar

According to Wikipedia it's also an Irish name
British PM named Andrew Bonar Law. Second shortest serving PM behind Liz truss
LOL that’s my screenshot. Great to see it doing the rounds.

I live in Beijing. You’re almost possibly WeChat famous, maybe.
Stoopid is as stoopid does
I really do wonder how many people simply forget being children.
That's how Beavis or Butthead would called their son.
I immediately heard Beavis saying “Bonerrrrrrr! Boing!”
Why do parents do this??
Because. They think they are allowed to name their kids ANYTHING they want. even if its stupid as heck.
Not a tragedeigh though - Bonar was the name of a famous British politician.
Bonar Law - Wikipedia
It’s a tragedeigh if you were going to name your child Boner.
If you have to ask....
I go by the rule of thumb that if you have to ask then the answer is yes.
The parents should be the ones bullied
There is a twitch streamer named tucker bonar.
Middle name Richard. Surname Head.
Aww cum on guys! Don’t be so hard on them!
Yes. Very much.
Don’t ask if you already know the answer. Unless slang changes drastically in the next 12, yes he will.
That said, you could name him Devon and Thomas and he’ll still get bullied, but why set him up with a ridiculous name?
Unfortunately his brother Eric Shin will receive the same treatment
Bick Bonar
Depending on where you live, bonar is not an unheard name
We really should learn kids that if one of their classmates have a dumb name, they need to Bully the parents instead of the kids.
It's like serving it on a plate. Especially at secondary school (11/12+)
Who did you get for white elephant this year? I got Bonar.
you should have to have a liscense to have kids or any pet. people in this society are shockingly incapable of caring ofr anyone else or even themselves. Ive met people with 3 kids who tell me 'i dont garden cuz i killed a cactus'.
Nah my son is called Aryu Retarded at he get on well at school
If you have this thought while picking names for your kid you should instantly forget about naming your kid that
That depends on which 'industry' he ends up working in...
They were intentionally trolling and the mods got it right
Or they were being genuine and the mods got it wrong
Either way? Bonar is an awful name idea for a kid
I guess there are stupid questions.
I don't know ... Just ask Anise Fistar
Are we sure this isn't a name from a non English speaking region? I mean, yes, in the US they would still be teased, but it may not be a true Tragedeigh.
Yeah, totally, it would pair up so well with his brother named Arecshin.
I actually had a peer in high school called Bonar, not sure if it was his last or first name but everyone called him that. He was quiet, but from what I saw people didn’t actually bully him which in retrospect is wild
With that name it's either a name change or beating everyone to the inevitable boner jokes.
Ha! Boner
John Boehner can finally not be the target of that joke for once
How… how is that even a question?
