    Not for nothing, but I played trumpet in school for a few years and this is basically how you push air out your lips to get to different notes on the trumpet. Same concept. All that is to say that you can definitely do it!

    I'm pretty sure this is basically how you play trumpet. The trumpet itself just amplifies the sound and lets you have more control over pitch, but you are still doing this with your lips. A bugle doesn't have buttons like other types of trumpets, and players can still control the notes with just their mouth.

    Also, this is a great skill for blowing raspberries.

    this is only slightly similar to how you play trumpet because she's buzzing her lips

    you do not hum while you play the trumpet and its not just a glorified megaphone like cheerleaders use

    your lips are buzzing without pitch and the length of tubing dictates the resonant frequency and overtones. to play a higher overtone (called a partial) you blow faster and thus your lips will want to buzz faster until they pass the break and now you're playing up a fifth. faster still now everything is up a fourth, etc.

    She probably sings great too. There are many versions of singing exercices where u have to humm ur way from lower registry to upper ones for better breath control. The vibrato she has is also an indicator.

    Hugh Laurie does this often in A Bit of Fry And Laurie! I saw him do it once as a kid and immediately taught myself to do it. If you can sing and have ever successfully made a sound on a reeded instrument, you can learn to do this in a day. The notes come from your voice box. The trumpet buzz comes from your lips. You’re essentially turning your lips into a kazoo.

    What I want to see is a montage video of how she worked her ass off to develop this skill set- like maybe she accidentally discovers the trumpet ability while trying to whistle when her lip was enlarged from an allergic reaction or something and it’s a lightbulb overhead moment- and then we see her chasing that sound and practicing day in day out to become the champ.
