Not surprising at all if you've listened to his music. He has an unusual singing voice that almost sounds like someone doing an Elvis impression. There is obvious inspiration there.
As both a Danzig and Elvis fan; I really enjoyed it.
What I like about it is, the production actually sounds like something that was recorded in the ‘60s. This could have easily sounded like modern Pro Tools schlock, but it actually sounds like an authentic period piece, true to the era Glenn is honoring.
It’s definitely a vanity project, no doubt. But he could have done a lot worse. I think it’s cool when artists give us a window into their influences.
“Saw” Danzig Sings Elvis in Vegas at the Tropicana a few years ago. “Saw” is in quotes because he showed up four hours late, had some random guy play cello solo for a while before the show, and then we left two songs in because it was so bad.
What goes through your mind waiting 4 hours to see anyone do anything? I think 90 minutes would have been my absolute limit before giving up and that's pushing it.
Just listened to it…the producer of that album should never work again. Danzig sounds good, but the reverb/levels are all over the place. Would love to hear him sing on a competent recording.
I remember when I first heard Mother on the GTA San Andreas soundtrack when I was in 6th grade and thinking it sounded like a mix between Elvis and Jim Morrison.

I remember people used to call him “Evil Elvis”
They still do, but they used to too.
I've had to convince some family members that American Nightmare isn't an Elvis recording.
Agreed, always had that thought
He’s directly cited Elvis and Jim Morrison as singers that inspired him.
Twist of Cain has a fat Elvis thing going on
I always thought he sounded like Jim Morrison back in the early 90s.
If Morrison could sing, maybe
I have listened to his music. Quite a bit of it. Still never saw this coming.
Mini Evil Elvis
Who knows martial arts.
Just like Real Elvis did.
He still got his butt kicked in a fight. Lol.
My favorite Danzig history is when he got into arguments on Facebook with 14 year old kids and boy did he look foolish.

"Sometimes to have fun you have to dress a little lame". Great sketch with him on Portlandia.
I always thought "Come Back " on Legacy of Brutality sounded like an Elvis song, if a little more abrasive. Love that song!

That's alright mother
I read the other day he's doing a new years concert or something of Elvis covers. Sounds kind of cool.
He’s also a director.

I think he self-produced it.
Leave it to the pros
I personally find it unbelievable that the same man that sang How The Gods Kill could release such a shitty thing.
Glenn Danzig gets knocked tf out

I heard that guy loves weed, hot dogs, and his own cum.
I'm with him on the first 2
Beyond Danzig, theres really only the lead singer of Volbeat that sounds more like Elvis.
You've never heard of Ronnie McDowell, have ya?
I listened to it: man, it has ZERO charm!
the greatest danzig video:

North Side Kings are UN-DE-FEATED!
YAMS!
1968 comeback Elvis (dressed in black leather) obviously
It's ironic that Danzig would do a cover album despite being adamantly opposed to anyone doing a cover of his songs.
A “Danzig Sings Elvis” show is coming up soon, actually.
He's doing a new years show of Elvis songs at the end of the month.
That’s cool, and also makes sense.
I remember when I first heard Mother on the GTA San Andreas soundtrack when I was in 6th grade and thinking it sounded like a mix between Elvis and Jim Morrison.
I'm old. I had to dub it from the radio onto a cassette because my parents thought he was a Satanist and wouldn't buy me the album.
Would have been better before he lost his voice, but I still love Danzig lol
Mama!
His three biggest vocal influences were apparently Elvis, Conway Twitty and Roy Orbison
Tight Fittin Jeans is a banger
I'd kill to hear Glenn sing Hello Darlin'
Its not very good, though
As a Danzig fan...no there was no album. It doesn't exist. It never happened and I refuse to believe anything to say otherwise
Was excited for it. Glad I listened to it first. Dodged that turd.
Woaaaah I bet he made it sooo spooky too. I’m scared to even listen to it, what if he mentions werewolves or something?
That's right, a musician released an album or songs.
Better late than never
