Wouldn't be interesting to travel back in time hovering over the African savanna and seeing Australopithecus? I've always dreamed of time travel being a great tool of evolutionary biology, but I just want to know what you think.
Honestly, no ... but it would be a great way to erase your own timeline.
In order to even remotely be ... less suicidally risky ... you'd have to travel much further back; AND limit yourself to isolated regions that you had high confidence would be wiped out prior to interaction with the larger ecosystem.
Probably not; but unless your idea of time travel is to FTL a telescope far away and observe your presence is going to have effects on the environment both immediate and delayed and those effects have to be accounted for.
Now, if we handwave paradoxes away by saying we create a new universe with each jump; then that isn't really time travel anymore, its dimension hopping with extra steps.
Personally I believe bulk of the evidence points to us living in a block universe but that's also a boring solution in these hypothetical what-ifs.

And even then its a coin toss at best.
We have no idea how causality would actually work or if there are even alternate timelines tbh
I don't think it would be like in the movies.
