The Marvel Inhuman Blackagar Boltagon (Black Bolt) has the super ability to emit extremely powerful sonic waves by speaking. Even a light gasp has been known to throw cars down a street.
But this now makes me wonder; How strong is this dude's neck? Equal and opposite and all that.

This is depending on the writer of said comic using him.
His voice can do anything from throwing cars, to outright destroying entire planets.
We are looking at an explosion to completely offset an entire planets gravitational binding energy. Which is stupid enormous btw.
This requires 2.24 x 1032 joules. Bonkers stupid amount of energy required.
The ONLY material in existence that can survive that blast FULLY unscathed is the same matter that composes neutron stars. "Neutronium" is Among the most exotic, and most likely exotic matter to actually exist that is decently observable.
And that ONLY exists because of immense gravity.
So uh... black bolts neck is an anomoly. We cannot compute it well in current pysics.
Possibly he has a normal neck, and instead there's something similar to the Speed Force that protects the Flash?
Well, we are talking about a universe where Cyclops' beams come from the Punch Dimension, so that's a good call.
"The Punch Dimension" will always make me giggle lol
I love solid JJ for teaching me about it!
Facts!
did you also learn that from solid jj?
Did anybody learn it elsewhere?
Fair point.
Yeah, they changed that. It's from solar energy absorption now.
Why did they change it? Because of physics problems like how is his neck not snapped using it, how come he can slow his fall using it if the contrapositive force isn't there, etc.
Also they changed it because the rest of his family acted as solar batteries so him using a punch dimension just wasn't consistent.
Yeah though, I like punch dimension. It's punchy.
You wouldn't even have to do all that, you could say his muscles can contract in a way that allows quantum tunneling to occur biologically, because inhuman, then the physics would be the muscle contracting close and closer to a Schwartz child radius depending on the force of exertion. The boom could then possibly be gravity waves.
The Neck force?
I mean:
Why not?
"The Neck Force" is not the most ridiculous thing in that made-up headline.
Black Bolt the throat goat confirmed
Shouts from the shout dimension.
Comics usually be throwing everything on the wall to see what will stick. Always trying sth new so power scaling is never consistent.
Maybe ask this through a live action iteration to maybe get a more solid reference point.
Probably just a normal amount. His ability clearly doesn't thrust his head backwards with the same force as it emits from the front, otherwise he would fall over instantly. I mean look at his stance. He's not braced against a force pushing backwards on his head.
In the pose that he's in I could walk up and push his face hard enough to put him on his back, let alone something pushing with more power than a large commercial passenger jet engine.
Actually infinitely more strong.
I have 2 reasons for saying this. 1.) His power has ebbed and flowed fairly widely - from just upper avenger level, to true Godhood. The fluidity indicates the unending scaling 2.) His power (at its peak) is unfeasable - beyond what could happen in reality in any way.
