They attacked him while drunk I assume. Should he not defend himself? Let himself get slapped around? A lot of simps here

    parent
    1 points RoosterzX

And he did it open handed too so it's not like he used his fist. Drunk people go down really really easy. I had a friend years ago who could be blown over by a stiff breeze after two drinks.

Yeah the simp energy is unreal

    parent root

She simply pushed a car door into him. To me he seems to be overreacting, you don’t have carte blanche to injure people that confront you physically.

    parent root
    15 points Valkyrie64Ryan

he didn’t hit her very hard, she’s just was too drunk to stop herself from falling over or to stop her head from hitting the pavement. Actually looking back at the video, he barely even hit her. That was the most limp slap he could’ve given her

    parent root

True in this specific case I dont think it would since the woman is of no threat and no weapons are involved. Tbh even if he pushed her away gently she's so drunk she would have fell hard anyways. He should have just gotten in and drove away

    parent root

I was arrested for manslaughter in a similar situation but dropped due to self defense.

    parent root
    1 points ObligationConstant83

I can't think of a single state where a man 2x the size of an unarmed woman could invoke stand your ground and win.Ā  It isn't a get out of jail free card.

    parent root
    0 points Melkman68

This specific case isn't even relevant to stand your ground. I was speaking on usual self defense cases in general. Of course this guy wouldnt win. She's not armed either.

    parent root
    1 points RedditAdmiinistrator

In some places that wouldn’t matter if his contact caused her to fall, hit her head and pass away. I’ve seen people get manslaughter/murder charges for exactly that while on a night out

    parent root
    2 points wolvessurveys

And ā€œself defenseā€ is still a viable defense in those cases

    parent root
    5 points Original1Thor

I had an ex that would "just" push me and I should deal with it (aka do nothing). One time I fell down the stairs and had a delayed rupture of my sleep. A few days later I was nauseous and fainted. Found out I had to have it removed and now I'm immunocompromised for life.

You never know what damage a smaller person can inflict upon you the rest of your life. Don't be an aggressor.

    parent root
    2 points Many-Cartographer278

The infantalization of women is also used to oppress them. More people need to realize this. They have agency over their actions like anybody else.

    parent root

She was committing assault damaging his property. He would never collect on the damages she was causing. People aren’t going to react in the precise level you find appropriate.

I’m saying we have to give deference to the notion that the perfect response in retrospect is easy. In real time it is much harder.

    parent root
    -6 points sylatcher

Ur right lol, when you weigh twice as much and are bigger than someone you do not need to meet a push of a door to a full punch. Her actions warranted a response but there was really no need to punch someone

    Simply??? !!!

    parent root
    1 points Stoked93

Simply? Have you been in the situation hes in? He drew a line and respected himself by defending that line. Absolutely no one should come into your personal space, you have the right to retaliate and put off the person who thinks it's okay to cross that boundary and physically assault you. He was absolutely right doing this.

    parent root
    1 points L0CAHA

You mean she simply assaulted him. Defending yourself is not overreacting, and injuring someone that assaults you is legally justified in most places.

    parent root
    1 points Valveringham85

Hey man, there are a couple lines imo. One of those is venturing into the physical, once you do I’m allowed to join you there.

    parent root
    1 points wolvessurveys

    Ratio’d to the nether realm

    parent root
    1 points Low_Item6886

yeah legally you’re right, at least in the UK. They were clearly not a great threat to him, he had ample time to get into the car and leave the situation but didn’t. This is a man who wanted to deck someone he knew he was bigger than. He wasn’t scared for his safety, and the pussys in the comments who act like he was are just borderline incels who want to see women get hit. These 2 women obviously are not nice people, but this is not a case of self defence, it’s just 2 assaults.

    parent root

    parent root
    -10 points No-College-8140

I'm sorry you feel that how the law works is 'mental gymnastics'

    parent root
    6 points mr_fantastical

Not how the law works. The law doesnt say "you could have ran away or tried to hide, but you stood still and chose to defend yourself, therefore you are at fault".

Theres an easy argument that he was worried that if he got inside his car they'd attack him as he was entering (as he would have to turn away) or smashed the window.

    parent root
    3 points TheGonzoGeek

Claiming he deserved consequences based on some imaginary law. You could make a case that his response was disproportional. But saying he is at fault for standing there to become a victim of aggression is just plain stupid.

    parent root
    3 points vyrus2021

Well, username checks out anyway. I'm gonna guess you don't think about shit you say very thoroughly before you say it. "the law"? which law? What state and municipality is this video in? You would benefit from a fighting class. It’s useful in a real-life context to know what self-defense means. No matter what a bunch of keyboard warriors tell you, this was not self-defense for multiple reasons. Many people here want to lie to themselves and say it was not a reaction out of anger. Real self-defense means you have 0 other options, literally 0. Back is against the wall. Not a vehicle that you can get into and drive away.

The people in thread should at least be honest about what it actually is, an emotional compulsion for revenge. People here want to ā€œget backā€ at this person, even if it means possibly killing them.

I’m so tired of seeing other men step in only when a woman is hit back. If you won’t step in when the women is assaulting then don’t step in when the men defends himself. Men should support other men and step in when a man is being assaulted by a woman, and likewise when a man is assaulting a woman. Just because we’re men doesn’t mean we deserve to be hit and should take the hits, and obviously the same goes for women.

    Thank you for the rewards!

    parent
    2 points ChicaFoxy

My Homie went through domestic violence for over 5 yrs and nobody did anything to help him, not even the police. Anybody that knew about the actual physical violence just ignored it or brushed it off as funny because he's built like a Mack truck and looks like that mean ass bouncer at the club! But because he was not scared of her and wasn't "hurt" by her physical assaults, the cops wouldn't arrest her. (She did so so so much more, including assaulting their kids, stooping so low as sucker punching her toddler in the head without warning numerous time.) CPS did nothing.
Anyway, I hate women who use their stature and gender as a free pass to assault men...

    parent root
    0 points Extra-Honey305

such is such a neckbeard reddit take. normal people will always intervene because the woman is often at an immense disadvantage

    parent root
    1 points Purge_Purify

Obviously more often than not women are at an immense disadvantage compared to men, but the man in the video isn’t the one inciting violence, he defended himself and drove away. If he chose to keep hitting then it would be more justified to intervene. The point stands that nobody should be unjustly assaulted, but everyone is justified to defend themselves.

    parent root
    0 points Extra-Honey305

i agree, but a guy like him, getting hit by a tiny woman like that doesn't even feel like a slap, tbh. that's like backhanding a child at full force. for humans, men and women are extremely physically different, it's excessive force and shows a lack of self restraint tbh.

    parent root
    1 points Purge_Purify

It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t hurt, doesn’t give anyone the right to wail on someone, ever! Your logic is deeply flawed. It shows a lack of self restrain to wail on someone just because you can. I can kill a person, I can burn down a religious building, I can hit a man or woman if I want to, but just because I can doesn’t mean I should, doesn’t mean it’s okay. And furthermore if the accepted statement is that a man is always more than not stronger than a woman, why don’t women have the self restraint to not start a fight they more often than will lose and regret? They made their decisions and they had to face the consequences. Everyone deserves to feel the results of their choices, good or bad, regardless of their sexe or gender.

    parent root
    0 points Extra-Honey305

blah blah menimist drivel. i never said it's "okay" it's about using appropriate amount of force. you wouldn't slam dunk a child as a man, don't do it to a tiny woman. he should have just pushed her away or walked away.

idc if you're some salty virgin woman hater or whatever. it's cowardly as fuck.

    parent root
    1 points Purge_Purify

She’s an adult, are you insinuating a woman is a child compared to a man? Looks like the women had plenty of opportunity to walk away. And they’re obviously intoxicated. He used a required amount of force and drove off. I find it funny you go straight to trying to insult me without knowing who I am, says a whole lot more about you. I find it funnier that you used such a comparison to completely victimize the women and make them appear to be innocent. The amount of force used wouldn’t have been necessary if they chose to back off. As you can see the man was the bigger person, he chose to leave the situation, meanwhile the other woman was more concerned with getting her hits in rather than check on her friend.
