I need help deciding what to buy for a starter, I’ve looked through the guide on this subreddit and done some further research from that, I’m wondering if the Sky-Watcher Classic 150P Dobsonian Telescope would be a good choice as it fits my budget pretty well, I’m mainly wanting a clear view of the moon and its surface but also a decent view of other planets. If you guys had any other recommendations around this price point please let me know.

  • Yes it is a very good starter telescope.

Now, if you can afford an 8" (200mm) one, and can handle the weight, an 8" may be a better value.

But if a 6" is what you can afford and handle , there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

    Yeah, what they said. ⬆️
