I’m rewatching everything starting with 16 and pregnant. Gosh I forgot how terrible Farrah’s mom is. I genuinely feel for Farrah watching how her mom treats her - like you can tell she just wants love and support and she doesn’t get any of it from her mom. She was asking about the delivery process and options, and her mom and sister are like omg this is so gross we don’t want to hear about it. Um Debra you gave birth *twice* wtf. Then later Farrah is like mom can you help me I’m so tired. Debra just straight up says no I need to sleep.

It’s no wonder why Farrah is the way she is.

  • this show unintentionally did a very good job giving ppl insight into both how abusive parents create assholes during childhood like farrah, jenelle, amber, etc. and also how it creates another generation of abusers if they don’t learn to be better

    I wouldn’t put debz and babs in the same camp personally, could you imagine if babs assaulted Jenelle the way deb did farrah? We’d never have heard the end of it. Jenelle did cry about how her mum dint want to play Yahtzee with her growing up, which, you know, is, an interesting thing to cry about.

    Barb screamed at Jenelle non stop in the early seasons, criticized everything she did and called her names, even called her a bitch.

    I've always loved Barb and felt bad for her cuz of how awful Jenelle is but I'm doing a rewatch and I completely forgot just how much Barb is to blame for how Jenelle turned out.

    I'm surprised that she didn't turn out even worse.

    I also have a hard time understanding the people complaining about how rude she is to her parents. I would never speak to my parents again if they were Farrahs parents. She is actually being too nice at times imo.

    I like how people either missed or forgot we saw Deb hitting Farrah on TV. The verbal berating and religious shaming too. Imagine what went on behind closed doors? Oh right, Deb and Michael liked to chase people with knives.

    And the people who say it's not Deb's fault Farrah got pregnant do so she doesn't need to help with Sophia. Deb refused to sign the abortion consent form Farrah wanted. She forced her daughter to give birth and then only changed her tune once MTV money came to Farrah. So of course Farrah is going to enjoy the shift in their power dynamic. Farrah is a bad person but she didn't pop out of the ground like that.

  • I’m convinced that the realist version of Farah’s mom that we saw was in 16 and pregnant. I’m convinced that once teen mom started, her mom put on this fake nice act. I feel like if it weren’t for the show, her mom would not have given a damn about Farah or Sophia. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Farah and Sophia have had no contact with Farah’s mom now that Farah isn’t in a tv show.
