I realized that the cartridges had this liquid that looks like some type of oil. It is yellowish towards a brown tone. The packaging is completely closed and expires in 2027. Does anyone know what it is? If it's contaminated or it's the sterilizing chemical that went bad or what's up. Obviously I'm not going to use them because I'm concerned about the safety of my clients. But there are only 4 cartridges in the entire box they came in, the other cartridges look clean and I want to know what you think and what you recommend doing. I appreciate any information or advice you have on this.

My guess is soldering paste after its be soldered , turns to brownish liquid, don’t use it for sure, send it back or send a pic to the brand
Solder paste doesn’t look like that, you’re referring to flux residue after soldering. It’s usually an amber colored sticky substance.
Soldering expert here. For sure it's flux like this person says. Can be made of a variety of organic and synthetic resins and acid. Either way you DO NOT want that in the skin.
Lol I thought this was gonna turn into that meme thread of like "flux? No what you meant was flutter like the sound a bird makes." And the joke goes on with a different word every time

"I dont make any assumptions"
Has already assumed the people In this thread dont know what theyre talking about. Assumed soldering = electronics. Ever seen stained glass be assembled? Gues not. Assumed the "quick Google search" (and i'm sure you looked at the ai overview) is more viable than people's lived experience
What a tool lol
Whatever it is don’t use it just send it back

Uh oh. My upvote was 666.
Don't use them, report the batch number to the manufacturer, these are no longer sterile and need to be recalled
I am not at tattoo artist but looks like tooling oil to keep things from oxidizing. Could be flux from soldering lake another coment said but it's usually not very oily. Hard to say just from looking at it though. Either can be easily cleaned with alcohol but being what it is probably best to play it safe.
I’d be calling the manufacturer on that, especially since it doesn’t really look intentional or consistent. If they all have it then maybe it’s a sterile preservative type thing but it could be contamination of some kind as well.
You'll need to lick it to be sure
Could have been extra flux from soldering. Just toss it the sharps bin.
Dont use ot send pictures to the retailer or brand and get a refund or new needles
Its just a little pre ink
hopefully not pee
Definitely oil- for oxidizing or rust.
Flux maybe or rust either way toss it out.
I thought these were headlights lol
Same lol
What company is this? I’ve been using cartridges for 8 years and have never seen his with any of the brands I’ve ever tried
Looks like Rust there must have been moisture in the package or it has lost its seal.
Iodine?
I thought these were dab pens and I was going to tell you that it is often that color lol. Glad I realized where I was in time
I don’t know anything about what that is, but I’d would call the manufacturer with the lot number or whatever identifying info you have and let them know.
Looks like some kind of lubricant
I didn’t see what sub this was on and I thought this was a penjamin cart at first
Machine oil?
Corrosion improperly stored
Any chance it’s iodine? I’m ignorant and just asking
The sterilisation process is gas, so it's certainly not some residue from that. Personally, I'd bin the entire box, as an unknown contaminant could easily penetrative a paper barrier on the other cartridges, and they can't be autoclaved.
Possibly burns from the metal touching the needles in the autoclave? I remember having that happen with tubes. We had an old haggard ass autoclave though. If it’s prepackaged I’d still send it back cause something went wrong.
Looks like it’s from getting sterilized…sometimes if they don’t dry fully it will leave a mark like that. I use an autoclave almost daily and have seen this before
Also could be iodine maybe?
Definitely liquid aids
A man of the sea
Google AI says:
A sterile, very thin layer of lubricant is typically present on the internal moving parts of an unopened, new tattoo cartridge. This is intentional for the cartridge to function smoothly.
The presence of this thin layer of lubricant is normal for unused, factory-sealed, and sterile cartridges. If, however, there is an excessive, "drippy," or inconsistent amount of yellowish liquid, it may indicate a potential manufacturing issue or contamination, in which case the product should not be used and the manufacturer should be contacted.

It looks like tattoo tip, cause of the needles?
