Deck: Ethereal Visions
I went through a major breakup back in October where I broke off my engagement to my fiancé. Since then, I’ve been having my ups and downs as I try to break down my trauma through therapy and reflecting.
The context of this spread is that I asked the cards for any insight on my future.
My interpretation:
Ace of Cups: I am on the path to true healing and through what I’ve learned I’ll be able to properly find true, deep, and healthy love.
The Emperor: In order to find what I seek, I need to demonstrate discipline and resolve in order to avoid circumstances and people who will set me back or threaten my wellbeing as others have done in the past.
Seven of Cups: I will be faced with difficult choices that will test my healing and my discipline.
This one was a little tough for me to interpret so please feel free to offer any insight! It’s always appreciated.

The Ace of cups is the beginning of emotion, not quite accessible yet, as it has not been formed into anything specific. So pointing to unconscious emotional content most likely given the context you provided.
The Emperor is major arcana, so, this is a life lesson or something major. The Emperor is about structure, following and enforcing rules. I’m guessing you probably intellectualize a lot and may have rules or specific ways in which you try to interact with your emotions that is more intellectually based rather than experientially, and this is possibly an obstacle to actually accessing what is really happening emotionally.
The 7 of cups is about illusion, self-deception, seeing what we want to see. So with the three of these together the cards are pointing to how you are managing your emotions and how you may be attempting to control your emotional experiences which is leading to a belief you are achieving more than you think you are. This is emphasized by the Emperor turned slightly toward the 7 and away from the Ace. The Emperor tendencies are blocking the Ace (emotions) from actually surfacing.
7’s are generally difficult cards after the resolution achieved by the 6’s. So you have made progress, but your tendency to rely on rules and structure and intellect is impeding you accessing deeper emotional content or experiences.
That’s a really insightful interpretation. I really like that. Thank you!
Your intuition is spot on right now. If you act on it with surity, your dreams will come true. If you second guess it, enjoy your worst nightmare.
Wow that’s terrifying. I wonder what that’s alluding to
That you leaned into the nightmare suggests to me that these card may reflect a pattern: lack of confidence leading to missed opportunities. It's a hopeful moment, though.
Listen to your heart and when you feel a tug in a given direction, act with impunity, as if you can't possibly be wrong. I think maybe it's more about that than the outcome.
Ace of Cups: a fresh spring (the water type, but maybe also the season)- an new emotional source (not necessarily a person) that is has the potential to satisfy your most basic emotional needs.
The Emperor: Build some structures, (which may or may not involve discipline. He's a pretty haughty looking Emperor IMO. Consider replacing the word discipline with the word care or safety and see what emotional waters well up for you) in your life that are both protective and stable enough so that you can rest (and resting is always good for healing) upon them safely, just in case the emotional waters from the Ace of Cups flows a bit to fast, backs up, floods. You want these structures in place before the hard part ...
Seven of Cups: ...which is examining a whole new range of options to choose from, where each choice is a reflection of who you feel you are, and who you feel you want to be. (feel as opposed to think, since you pulled cups, not swords.) This is your chance to craft a new mask if you want one, or unmask completely. Unmasking is difficult, it can feel uncomfortable, a bit itchy and tight, an ugly, worn-out skin that no longer fits, has to split and be shed.
Good luck. I hope this helps.
Thank you! Yes it does I appreciate your insight
Ace of Cups: a new spark of connection The Emperor: absolute confidence & authority 7 of Cups: illusions
Question to start with: - Who has caught your attention recently?
Next question: - What do you want with them? Friendship? Love? Mentorship? Something else?
The Emperor is a charm. You’re invincible, like Mario with the star. You can get whatever you want, if only you ask for it
So: - How will you approach them? What will you ask?
Lastly, a caution: they may not be what you think.
No one really yet. There may be one superficial interest I have but I don’t really know them at all. I like this interpretation too. Thank you!
