I'd be far more interested in that club, or in the champion pigeons.

  • That's great! It looked like Millswood but Millswood SA didn't seem to be that sort of place. Definitely not many pigeon clubs around now.

dunno why they would have shipped it all the way from millswood when it wouldve been cheaper to make a new one. I guess they paid extra for rustic appeal.

They wouldn’t of, it would of been picked up in the tip and reused instead of being landfill

This is a university thing? It might have arrived by dint of a student group weekend stunt.

  • Feels pretty wrong to erase actual history of excellence to replace it with something so lame

not only that but the inconsistent ways they've put in the years is really shit

  • so weird they didnt sand it back and refinish it before painting over the top

  • It's Millswood Invitational club from Adelaide. They closed in 2006 unfortunately. Shame to see their history erased like this.

Pigeon racing is another historical hobby that used to be very popular but is now being killed off by real estate prices and cost of living. Can't keep a team of pigeons in a rental or apartment.

  • Hi not sure about the first word of the name (might be Millswood as already suggested) but I'm pretty sure the second word is 'Invitation'

There are a few 'invitation' clubs so I think its probably a convention http://www.pigeonrace.net

Yep pigeon racing clubs are usually either open or invitation. Open clubs allow anybody in a geographic area to apply for membership, Invitational clubs only allow people specifically invited by the existing membership to apply.

It's usually done to specifically exclude troublesome people.... Or (unfortunately) people who are too successful and people don't want to compete against.

  • I can almost guarantee this has been thrown in the rubbish tip and was rescued by a reschs member to be repurposed instead of being landfill

  • They probably purchased it from the defunct club.
