Like stepping into a whole new world! Haven't been back since pre 2010s. Can't believe so much has changed, almost unrecognisable. The river still shit though 😂
River section has some nice places to eat and is quite pleasant later in the day. Powerhouse construction is the main issue and there will be a other nice spot just west of the church st bridge being finished off soon..
I used to go into parramatta every Sunday in the early 90s. It was completely dead: only the maccas in the Westfield was open, and two comic books stores.
I like the current layout where you can walk along it. It's nice to be able to sit without having to pay. And there is a playground and the art walk, and benches and the cycle path.
It also floods regularly, so that’s another reason the restaurants aren’t directly on the river. It’s quite nice to eat somewhere on church st or surrounds, then walk down by the river, in any case.

Church Street, the catwalk for hooners in 90s, 2000s
So glad all that shit has gone. Track days at Sydney Motorsport Park a betterplace for the car guys.
Haha exactly. Core memory of an alfresco meal with leaded exhaust fumes 😅

The problem with the river is that its mostly ignored when it should have restaurants lining it.
